@jpop187: He isn't a shill, it's just how these people argue, they talk and talk but never say anything, their method of arguing is by making vague allusions so they can't deny having said anything at all. It's boring and circular and more often than not pointless.
They aren't direct with their arguments and confuse the discourse and will act like it's your fault for not understanding their vague reasoning. It's a waste of time to engage too much with them. Let them cope, he isn't cracking up or amused, he is annoyed otherwise he wouldn't have commented every single comment that angered him.
He just want to get a reaction out of people, so it's better to just let it go.
Skylar was a good character, people hated her because people were rooting for Walt and Skylar always on his case, justifiably. So she gets labelled the nagging wife.
@dmblum1799: I don't think it's about right wing jerks per se, but when the devs bring so much attention about being contemporary and removing what was considered dated humor, people will notice and comment.
Specially with them trying to distance themselves from what the games were.
So yeah, people will comment the game is woke, they removed the edge, they remove the dumb phallic weapons. But they didn't add anything of substance to the game other than a diverse cast. Specially because the previous games already had a diverse cast and it didn't feel the need to flaunt it.
Quotes from the devs.
1 -
“It was a great opportunity for us to just tell the story that we wanted to tell, and most importantly tell a story that is contemporary — that we think the people are going to relate to."
2 -
“We love [the oldSaints Rowgames], but we also recognize those are games of a time. They made sense within that era, and we were able to do things that felt good back then.”
3 -
“we’re exploring a more diverse group of characters so it gives us a lot more avenues to explore, anyway.”
@mogan: Not in general it doesn't, but I think it did in this case, they forgot to make it an interesting game. If it had any edge, it would still be more that we got.
The promotion material and the interviews really focused on how progressive the game would be, but the devs forgot to add any substance to go with their message of diversity. Ideals aren't a replacement for quality story telling.
I'm not saying an innocent game has to be bad, I love Golf Story and it's pretty harmless, but it's not bogged down with trying to progressive, it's focus was on being fun and entertaining.
When you make an entertainment piece as a vehicle for your views and ideologies first and entertainment last, well, you can't complain when you get shitty scores.
No, its not trapped to the past, the game is exactly some demanded, a boring, lifeless, toothless mess, trying to be hip and as inoffensive as possible. It's exactly what was demanded of it. Enjoy.
