@FaustXII Or, maybe he just really liked the game? Maybe the ending is actually good? Just because the man liked the game doesn't mean he has the hots for anybody. You are just making ridiculous assumptions and accusations. It isn't like Kevin is making you play the game, if you don't think you'll like it don't buy it. It is really that simple.

@Gr3gSolidus @Roku966 @anaccsa @Smokescreened84 @SaudiFury @blackrunie @bledsoe45sbc I agree with anaccsa. "I agree with you, actually. But tell me a woman being aggressive an not wearing make up wouldn't be seen as butch... it's part of the stereotype thing"

@anaccsa @Roku966 @Gr3gSolidus @Smokescreened84 @SaudiFury @blackrunie @bledsoe45sbc I agree completely. Unfortunately some people have preconceived notions about what makes a female a female. Even though women are no different than men in that, they all have different personalities, views, thoughts etc. These preconceptions apply to men as well though. Men are supposed to be aggressive, intimidating, etc. The truth is we live in a world made up of preconceptions. Instead of thinking of humanity as a large group of individuals we like to associate people with certain words like "women" "men" "black" "white" and then attach characteristics to those words. It is that way of thinking that people are fighting to change and the reason why articles like this even exist.

@anaccsa @Gr3gSolidus @Smokescreened84 @SaudiFury @blackrunie @bledsoe45sbc I don't think they would be butch. They would just be dealing with a pretty awful situation. Whether you are male or female if you trying to fight the covenant or the locust hordes you are going to need to be direct and aggressive. If by butch you mean "assertive" or "intimidating" or maybe you mean they won't be wearing any makeup and doing their hair. Well, any of us, regardless of our gender, wouldn't really be worrying about how we looked if we had to deal with these hardships and we would have to be aggressive in order to win the fight.

@blackrunie @Smokescreened84 It is no more difficult to immerse yourself in a game with a female protagonist if that protagonist is written well enough. I related just fine to Jade and Femshep and if those characters were male it would not have made the respective games any better or any worse. I know for a fact this is true for Mass Effect because I play a male Shepard as well, the experience was just as fulfilling.

@RiverCityRandom "No. Have you?" She is my favorite character in that movie. She's just too bad.

@Smokescreened84 @Roku966 @GhostOfSparta4 I agree with you in that I would like to see more female protagonists. I made a post on the GTA 5 forums a while ago before any of the games details were released. I said that I thought it would be interesting to see a female protagonist. Many of the people in the thread dismissed the idea and claimed that a female lead would ruin the game. This irritated me greatly. I could not understand why they thought this way.

Some developers probably think this way as well. These people need to look at the fact that we are all human beings. We love and hate and fear and live and die together. What makes a character relatable is the human factor. Even though the Boss was a female character I could still relate to her because I felt for her and what she had gone through. I made a connection with her as a human being.

In many ways we are different but in all the ways that matter, all the ways that are eternal, we are the same.

@Smokescreened84 @GhostOfSparta4 I'm all for seeing more women as protagonists in games. I usually prefer to play as a female in most video games even though I am male but, if a game looks good then I'll play it regardless of what gender the protagonist is. Smokescreen you are literally emulating the mind set of the male gamers you despise. You say that you cant play games with male protagonist because you cant relate to them and that is exactly why many developers make all of their main characters male. They are afraid that males will not purchase their games because they claim they cant relate to a female protagonist. I don't really care what gender the main character is in a game it comes down to whether or not i think the game is good. Gender and race have nothing to do with it. If more people thought this way instead of seeing gender as a reason to not purchase a video game we would see more female protagonist.
