The comments about scientific fact is hard to claim. Science doesn't ACTUALLY prove anything to be a fact. It is used to disprove things as facts more. The Heisenburg Uncertainty Principle is just one idea used to show that nothing can really be certain. Just because gravity has worked so far, doesn't mean that at some moment we won't just float off the earth for some reason. (Just playing Devil's Advocate here)
I wouldn't say I "believe" in things (because people are usually willing to die for their beliefs) not considered scientific fact, but I think for sure there is some alien life form (even if it's at the cellular level)...which I believe they have found evidence on Mars of fossil life (of microscopic life). That's pretty big for the universal theory that God created life on Earth...because there is now also life on Mars. I'm certainly not religious, but I'm not sure why people are wrapped up in this "god" theory.
I think there is also probably some way to time travel....we gotta figure it out just for our amusement. Lol
Thank you, there was a person trying to say that 99.9999999 % is certain, that's such a big difference it's not even funny let's just say 99.999% of a drug won't kill Guess what, you just killed 70,000 people in the world[QUOTE="RubiksCubeReven"]I believe that smoking might, just might have some correlation with lung cancer but even science can't be sure. loaded question, there is almost nothing science can be 100% sure about, only very close to certain.Cataclism
So early into the thread and already BS is flying around.
Smoking definetely has a correlation with lung cancer and science already explained it. In one of my university classes a professor actually showed us the entire reaction mechanism on how smoking can cause cancer.
no, Noone at all can say that, you can only say there's overwhelming evidence that suggest that claim even though the percentage of certainty is 99.9999999 percent or higher surely you have heard of people saying gravity or global warming is just a theory right? you don't have to call my claim bsWe disprove things on a daily basis, no matter how true it was before
What are your views on holidays? including days important to you such as anniversary and birthday?
My point being, it'sfun to party or go out in the name of a certain holiday, but it's essentially overated as you can do this any other day, and you probably do not care about the holiday itself, or you're celebrating the benefits the holiday has brung such as vacation days.
And imagine if you do care about the holiday, shoudln't we be "celebrating" Earth Day everyday by being environmental friendly or just spend one day to cover for the whole year?
same for Major holidays, shouldn't you be patriotic everyday instead of just on independence day?
Holidays are fun, that's for sure, but the reason why we celebrate it, makes that any small or made up holiday can have meaning if you just put dedication into it.
