I personally am of the mindset that mobile and console gaming should remain separate. They're just two different beasts. The idea from what I've seen of it on the wiiU just doesn't seem all that appealing either. The idea of combining PC and console gaming, however, appeals very greatly to me. The Steam Box is something I'm going to be watching very closely. Microsoft didn't really put alot of effort into their attempts to go cross platform, yet I see most of my friends using their PCs to play on xbox live. It has a different type of appeal that I am very much looking forward to.
The only thing about this I truly agree with is the fact that it causes desensitization in people, which I believe is a good thing. If kids and young adults are not as sensitive to blood and violence, it reduces the shock and keeps people calm if a tragedy, God forbid, ever did strike, or even if something minor occurred and needed to be dealt with immediately. However, I'm not sure this event was meant as an act against gaming. It was more of a symbol of what the community is trying to encourage in heir kids: family-oriented, clean fun.
Originally, I had thought much of the homophobic comments I saw were the results of over-emphasis on religious teaching. Seeing the Twitter post in this article, I realize it stems from popular beliefs being taken way to far in the minds of immature people who think they can say what ever they want with no real reason to do so.
