When I first saw news about this game and saw the video interview with Boon, I honestly thought it was gonna be a side game, coming out along with the next gen MK8. That's the truth. At first, the idea seemed to me like Ed Boon and the rest over at Midway were desperate to get MK back in the forefront again, but now, that feelings left me. I've been a fan of MK forever and I've got confidence in what Boon and guys like John Vogel can do. I believe they could pull this off. If they can't pull if off, then I still won't stop being an MK fan. I'll still have the other MK titles to keep me company and in the meantime, I'll be waiting for Midway to make the next real MK game after that. But the fact of the matter, is that it's still to early to say anything about it yet. Everyone needs to have an open mind about this thing, because what's gonna matter in the end, is whether or not the gameplay will be good. Boon said something in the video interview about making a plausible reason as to how the MK fighters of old and new, will be able to step toe to toe with DC's guys. All everyone can do, is wait and see.

In the MK universe, DC characters coming in are new characters, so your counter to this argument is still invalid, especially becuase, as I've said, you can't make the claim they don't add anything new in regards to moves/gameplay mechanics/balancing/etc. at this time, period.You're almost acting if you can see into the future at this time and know that the character specific moves made for the DC characters don't have an impact on the gameplay in any special way, and that may be true when the time comes, but for now, the point I made is still valid, because the DC characters present a potential to affect the gameplay in some notable way, good or bad.
The only part of what you're saying that I can agree with is yes, the visual appearance of the characters don't really make an impact, but that can be said of all characters in the first place, so it's not something that can be specifically applied to the DC characters.
I see your point but my argument still remains.
No matter what the DC characters bring in terms of gameplay, the exact same could have been replicated just not using the DC skins.
Your acting as if DC have a copyright on their characters abilities, for example, DC are the only ones who can bring in a super strong fighter or a fighter with laser eyes.
What I'm saying is that they can't bring in anything unique by the virtue that they are DC characters.
The same argument could be made for Marvel vs. Capcom and SSBB. Having solid Snake in SSBB makes zero sense but it's still a fun aspect of the game. The point is that characters like Superman and Batman are iconic and the ability to play them in a crossover game is a potentially solid, fun concept.
With all due respect, you're taking this game and the quality of the existing MK storyline way too seriously. You're also making quite a few assumptions without really knowing anything about the game.
I've assumed nothing except for the fact that the game will be poor. And this is a lot different from SSBB, because they don't take it seriously, on the other hand, Batman and Sub-Zero eyeing each other out is just pathetic.
MK's storyline may not be excellent, but there is no need to drag it into the gutter.
And I can see you are a DC fan.
