Might not get a 3DS on launch.

It's not because it's expensive, I think the US price is great, UK price in some places are selling £200 which is okay (but with no game...). Just that there are so many games I want this year on 360, I'm hoping Last Story or Xenoblade get localised this year on the Wii and of course there is Zelda.

With 3DS I am hyped for many games they have announced, but a lot of the games I am looking forward to will come a long way down the line, some not even confirmed for this year.

I haven't decided yet, but I have a feeling getting a 3DS now, despite having more than enough money to do so, is a big buy for something I might not use so much early on. I know I will get one some time though, it's going to be a great gaming system :P

1 year on GS - over 10000 - GOTY

It has been a fun year on GS, many flops to savour on SW :P I finally cracked 10 000 posts :shock:, would have probably been on 20 000 but you know I got a job recently so less time to annoy you guys. Probably because of that I haven't been moderated in over a month! New record for me. And no point loss in 3 months! :shock: Lol.

Right now I am hyping the 3DS, I just can't wait for that. Playing through Metroid Prime 3 and waiting for Just Cause 2 to arrive in the post.

Back to business, my GOTY is:

DQ9 was close, but this grabbed me more. I couldn't put it down.

Have a good new year.

3DS specs leaked? Not disappointing at all.

I will take these with a grain of salt, but as digital foundry pointed out, IGN have been accurate in the past with their specs leaks:

266MHz ARM11 CPU (two of them)
133MHz PICA 2000 GPU
4MBs
VRAM
64MBs of RAM
1.5GB of flash mem. (rumoured to be 2GB's, 512MB's used for the OS :shock: )
And we know the full resolution in 3D (i.e. both eyes) will be
800x240 or 190,000+ pixels.

I am not a graphics expert, but I admit at first I was disappointed by those numbers, they just seemed a little low. But then I thought about it, and they are great. Definitely enough for what Nintendo entended. First we shouldn't be disappointed because it matched their handheld timeline. I'm not comparing direct specs, but what the handhelds were comparable to:

GB/GBC = NES
GBA = SNES
NDS = N64
3DS = GCN?

Gamecube specs:
485MHz
IBM Gekko PowerPC CPU
162MHz
ATI Flipper GPU
40MBs of RAM
640x480 resolution 300,000+ pixels.

It seems to fit the time line (and surpass it), just going by these basic numbers. Keeping in mind the 3DS hardware is newer and better (from what I know the GPU has some great capabilities GCN's did not), and the 3DS displays fewer pixels so it only has to work less for better results than the GCN.

So why should people be disappointed? Nintendo has to balance price, performance, and battery life. I have seen iPhone mentioned, and sure it has great graphics (well the UE3 tech demo does, as does ID Software's engine), but it's not cheap and iPhone is limited by controls.

Was it because PSP broke Nintendo's handheld trend? Or because IGN previews apparently said 3DS was close to 360/PS3 power? Or both? Looking at that, I don't think people should be disappointed. Let's not forget displays full 3D with no glasses, something other systems can't replicate. This is what's really important anyway:

AWESOMENESS.

Woo! I got the job.

To sum up my feelings:

I'll be starting in the next few weeks, working for a housing company. The contract is only 6 months though, but could be extended if all goes well. Just good to finally get back into work (and make money) after ~10 months jobless.

It's officially my birthday!

Past midnight here in the UK. I am officially 20 years old! 8)

Possibly the least productive year of my life. I finished an IT Apprenticeship in probably the worst time you could (economically). Pain finding a job, I'm going to have to go back to the drawing boards and rethink stuff.

I've just been looking for work, playing video games, and working out (and trolling SW of course :P). Oh, and I completed SMG2 today. Epic game, always feels fresh, no levels feel the same. Some levels were really good though but didn't have enough stars to get on them!

Yay! I got a Wii!

Came free with my "cell" phone contract, played some Wii Sports Resorts and Wiimotion+ is the real deal. Table tennis is awesome!

Will get Mario Galaxy next :P
