I can't believe nobody has cashed in on gps+monster catching better than in "Mobbles." Is there some multiplayer game (not necessarily with gps) where you catch/breed and battle monsters?

I have little experience with mmo's and want to get into one. Problem is I don't know what I'm looking for: instance-based or open-world? Party-based or solo-able? A strong roleplay community would be nice, but for some reason lotro doesn't appeal to me.
My comp has windows and my brother's Ubuntu. Are there any MMO's we could play together?
As in collaborative storytelling.
I found some reviews and 1 and 2 had horrible ones. >.> How does FF14RR's combat work?
Any suggestible mmo's with non-tedious play?
Are there any mmo's with decent combat systems? I'm not into cycling through the same skills over and over.
I have only one working hand but have a 13-button mouse. I'm nowhere near competitive at F- and TPS's, so may I have ideas about other games I can play online? I hear LoL isn't easy to make friends on, so that's probably a no-go.
I heard LoL's community was suxxorz. 10-year-olds and griefers etc. Sorry to keep rejecting your ideas, but please keep posting them!
Oh, I forgot: I have a mouse with 11 extra buttons. I've tried FPS's and other shooters but the controls were clunky on it. I know RTS's and stuff might work, but again, I want a good, social community.
