I consider myself an xbox fan. I much prefer the 360 to the PS3 and the org xbox to the ps2. That being said. If this is true. I will be buying a PS4 and joining the sony folks. Sure I always have an internet connection...but its the principle of it.
No LAN mode = No competitive merit. If BF4 still doesnt have a LAN option then forget it ever being recognized in the eSports world. Playing shooters online in a tournament setting is far to random to have any merit.
If the PC version doesn't have LAN support again I probably won't buy it. I enjoy the series but I hate supporting Devs who strip out great features and make it look like a cheap console knock off.
About half of the posters here must have a real difficult time with reading comprehension... They want to create a shooter that is competitive... Something that puts players on an even playing field with balanced weapons and competitive maps... Certainly not everyones cup of tea but there are plenty who enjoy it.
Where any of you are getting the idea that it will be a simulation on the life of a pro gamer is beyond me....
I have been a member of the MLG community since early '05 and have seen it grow from super small venues in a hotel conference room to mega events that look like something off of ESPN. That being said I still question the ability for them to create a game with any sort of staying power.
Fact is, if the masses don't want to play it... It will never get the attention needed to make it viable on a pro circuit. Shootmania is insanely competitive.... Most have never played it and when they see it have no interest in it. That is a problem.
The best thing they could hope for is a Shadowrun 2. It would need to be promoted waaayyy more than the first one but the first one was a good game and it was hella competitive for a console shooter.
