You are wrong in considering that if it is linux, it is going to be a mess of configurations, command line programing and shit. They said they BASED their OS on linux. This means that while functionalities will be the same regarding system structure and files, it will be easier to make it work and without much more setting up steps as they aim it for average players, not neceserelly programres. Here the deal will be the drivers on exotic setups if you dont follow the official one.
@killersushi Well, the fact that they are giving away the SO might reduce the final price of your new machine when you will buy another one, is one thing to consider IMHO...
It looks very promising and the more i know about it, the more i want to know. Unlike the bone project, which happened to be an even greater fail with each revelation.
@xtraflossy @Senior_Rosa @Master_Adeum @blueboxdoctor Hey thanks for answering. I just wanted to add that i use both PCs and Macs. I am more comfortable with mac. And if you like PCs, good. It is just a matter of irrational perception, or taste. Don't take for granted i don't know how to do maintenance. I never had much money to spend and so my computers were always very well kept and always exceeded projected lifespan.
Talking about cars, you say you prefer to build your own car with the best parts you can find, or maybe tune your car with (again) the best parts so you can go fast & furious. You say you want to race my mercedes benz, and you win. So what? It is a matter of taste i guess. I prefer mac and you prefer PC, and there is nothing wrong with it.
@Master_Adeum @blueboxdoctor Well, everybody knows that if you want a gaming laptop, better don't buy a macbook. However, one thing you don't consider is the quality (and efficiency) of the OS. On mac computers everything works, it has a nicer finishing and you don't have much of windows problems. Besides, i still have my old 2007 macbook white which i use daily, everything working perfectly including the original battery, which can last up to 1 hour.
Obviously you can build a Frankenstein PC with the best parts you can find in the market, and it will probably work like a charm, although you might have some troubles with drivers and stuff. On Mac, everything works out of the box.
