Oh?..........Canada?

THIS POST IS FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO LEARN OR PRACTICE THE CANADIAN NATIONAL ANTHEM. MIND YOU I THINK IT SUCKS, BUT HEY, SCREW IT. THERE ARE 2 VERSIONS OF THE NATIONAL ANTHEM: ENGLISH (YEAH!) AND FRENCH (YOU SUCK!). IF YOU TRANSLATE THE FRENCH INTO ENGLISH (OR THE ENGLISH INTO FRENCH), YOU WILL NOTICE THAT THEY ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. THIS POST IS ALSO TO HELP ME. YES, I AM CANADIAN, BUT I DO FORGET NEARLY THE ENTIRE SONG. ENJOY!

O Canada! Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide, O Canada,
We stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

Ô Canada! Terre de nos aïeux,
Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux!
Car ton bras sait porter l'épée,
Il sait porter la croix!
Ton histoire est une épopée
Des plus brillants exploits.
Et ta valeur, de foi trempée,
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.

April 29, 2007

This will be the launch day of the Xbox 360 Elite, officially announced by Microsoft. Hearing this recent news made me change my original plan to buy the soon-to-be less expensive Pro 360. i've decided i think i might get the Elite version, however not for a year. I still stand by my one year waiting period for all consoles. Right now, Microsoft's Xbox 360 definately has my vote!

EDIT: BEST BUY AND FUTURESHOP CANADA NOW HAVE PRE-ORDERS ON-LINE! RELEASE DATE IN CANADA IS MAY 4, 2007!

PS3? Xbox 360? Wii?

i still cannot decide on which system to purchase.

i like the 360 because of the amount of games it has. as well its on-line service is quite a feat. as well, most of my friends have a 360, which ive come to enjoy playing.

the ps3 has awesome visuals and has blu-ray playback capabilites. this systems seems it needs a long term commitment though. the potential of this system is nearly unmatched. however its price tag it quite a blow to my wallet!

the Wii is quite unique. its downloadable games from past systems is a really neat idea. the controller is also draws my attention. it brings something a little more fresh to the table. more importantly, it's cheap and has some of my favourite titles like zelda, mario and metroid.

what to do? wait a year. that's my plan. see what happens, take notes and then make a final decision.

If i had to choose right now, i'd pick 360.

Dawkins Quotes!

"The meme for blind faith secures its own perpetuation by the simple unconscious expedient of discouraging rational inquiry."

Richard Dawkins

There's this thing called being so open-minded your brains drop out."

Richard Dawkins

"...when two opposite points of view are expressed with equal intensity, the truth does not necessarily lie exactly halfway between them. It is possible for one side to be simply wrong."

Richard Dawkins

"...it is a telling fact that, the world over, the vast majority of children follow the religion of their parents rather than any of the other available religions."

Richard Dawkins

"Like computer viruses, successful mind viruses will tend to be hard for their victims to detect. If you are the victim of one, the chances are that you won't know it, and may even vigorously deny it."

Richard Dawkins

"The patient typically finds himself impelled by some deep, inner conviction that something is true, or right, or virtuous: a conviction that doesn't seem to owe anything to evidence or reason, but which, nevertheless, he feels as totally compelling and convincing. We doctors refer to such a belief as 'faith'."

Richard Dawkins

"No doubt soaring cathedrals, stirring music, moving stories and parables, help a bit. But by far the most important variable determining your religion is the accident of birth."

Richard Dawkins

"We admit that we are like apes, but we seldom realize that we are apes."

Richard Dawkins

"Most people, I believe, think that you need a God to explain the existence of the world, and especially the existence of life. They are wrong, but our education system is such that many people don't know it."

Richard Dawkins

"Faith is the great cop-out, the great excuse to evade the need to think and evaluate evidence. Faith is belief in spite of, even perhaps because of, the lack of evidence."

Richard Dawkins

"There may be fairies at the bottom of the garden. There is no evidence for it, but you can't prove that there aren't any, so shouldn't we be agnostic with respect to fairies?"

Richard Dawkins

"Science offers us an explanation of how complexity (the difficult) arose out of simplicity (the easy). The hypothesis of God offers no worthwhile explanation for anything, for it simply postulates what we are trying to explain."

Richard Dawkins

"Thus the creationist's favourite question "What is the use of half an eye?" Actually, this is a lightweight question, a doddle to answer. Half an eye is just 1 per cent better than 49 per cent of an eye..."

Richard Dawkins

"Aquarius is a miscellaneous set of stars all at different distances from us, which have no connection with each other except that they constitute a (meaningless) pattern when seen from a certain (not particularly special) place in the galaxy (here)."

Richard Dawkins

"Paranormal phenomena have a habit of going away whenever they are tested under rigorous conditions. This is why the $740,000 reward of James Randi, offered to anyone who can demonstrate a paranormal effect under proper scientific controls, is safe."

Richard Dawkins

"For the first half of geological time our ancestors were bacteria. Most creatures still are bacteria, and each one of our trillions of cells is a colony of bacteria."

Richard Dawkins

"There are all sorts of things that would be comforting. I expect an injection of morphine would be comforting... But to say that something is comforting is not to say that it's true."

Richard Dawkins

"I don't want to sound callous. I mean, even if I have nothing to offer, that doesn't matter, because that still doesn't mean that what anybody else has to offer therefore has to be true."

Richard Dawkins

"Certainly I see the scientific view of the world as incompatible with religion, but that is not what is interesting about it. It is also incompatible with magic, but that also is not worth stressing. What is interesting about the scientific world view is that it is true, inspiring, remarkable and that it unites a whole lot of phenomena under a single heading."

Richard Dawkins

"What are all of us but self-reproducing robots? We have been put together by our genes and what we do is roam the world looking for a way to sustain ourselves and ultimately produce another robot child."

Richard Dawkins

"Who will say with confidence that sexual abuse is more permanently damaging to children than threatening them with the eternal and unquenchable fires of hell?"

Richard Dawkins

"I am against religion because it teaches us to be satisfied with not understanding the world."

Richard Dawkins

"We are all atheists about most of the gods that humanity has ever believed in. Some of us just go one god further."

Richard Dawkins

Elite?

XBOX 360 Elite - All the knews surrounding this, i believe, holds some truth. I do believe that Microsoft will release a larger hard drive for the 360 and incorporate HDMI into their systems. As well i can see black 360s being manufactured down the line. However for it being released in April without any say by Microsoft themselves causes my red flags to go off. however the idea of the Elite is comforting for me. It means the price of the premium 360 will have dropped. I dont need - and more importantly do not want - a larger hard drive or HDMI. if i were to get an xbox 360, i would use it strickly for games. 120 gigs is enough, but 20 gigs will suffice (if not, i'd rather just buy the hrd drive). as for the HDMI, again, i dont want or need. for the size of my TV, it would make no significant difference visually and the sound is good enough as it is with the component cables included. with the controversy over it having no internal HD-DVD play back, it doesn't bother me one bit. im still waiting to see whether Blu-Ray or HD will win. then i may consider purchasing the attachment or a PS3.

Bottom line, something is going to happen.
