If only the Xbox One got all the hundreds upon hundreds of games that doesn't come to Xbox but are available on PC.

That is a given. Now tell Sony and Microsoft to put better CPUs so developers can achieve higher and more stable frame rates.
There are less games on the Switch e-shop versus Steam/XL/PSN right now. Less competition = higher prices.
That being said, a lot of the cross platform digital only games share a similar standard price across platforms, at least in the US.
Personally: I enjoy having having a good amount of indie games on Switch versus PC or other console. It just feels better to easily have access to the game on the go or at home.
Example: If X game is on SALE on the eShop and Steam. Standard price is $30 but Steam has it for $10 but the eShop has it for $15, I most likely will be willing to shell out the extra $5 for portability.
Could that be a reason for the higher prices? Maybe... I'm not alone in that regard.
Both consoles are on par with one and another on everything but games. Playstation 4 has better exclusives and has access to many more games.
The primary purpose of a console should be games. So PS4 is better.
(Hardware wise: the original Xbox One is inferior to the PS4 too)
$500 to $600 desktop PCs make good first time computers for many kids who want to get into gaming and computers. Example: my nephew when he was 7 years old
They start learning at an early age. They don't really care about INSANE GRAPHICS or HIGH FPS at that age but they learn how a computer works while also taking care of it because its their gaming machine.
Consoles are worse this generation than they were any generation prior. Consoles have lost every advantage they had prior and PC has become better.
Since prior generations;
- PC has become easier to make and play on. Driver updates are performed in a matter of clicks. Game installations are simple. DRM have become user-friendly. System requirements have balanced out and game engines have made it easier for developers to maintain their games.
- Consoles have become less user-friendly. The requirements to pay additional money access online features and they are less plug and play.
- Consoles have lost their "exclusivity" advantage. Games that use to be console-only have now migrated to PC as well. Japan has taken PC development more and more serious has time has gone. The only exclusives a console have now a days are first party games. The death of third party exclusives has benefited PC more than it has consoles.
- PC still has a huge independent developer advantage over console. There are more game developers now a days and PC is the main platform for the lion's share of those developers.
Looking at the past;
- During the PS2/Xbox/Gamecube generation, the PC and Console experience were on par but on different metrics.
- During the beginning of the PS3/Xbox 360 generation, the console experience was better because it brought a lot of the perks of PC and the PC platform was on a decline.
- Later that generation things started to tilt the other way and has been ever since.
3440 x 1440 at 100hz. I have a 4K monitor and 4K TV, but I barely use that for PC games. The TV is plugged into my consoles tho, so whatever res that consoles feel like playing is that.
Its also an advantage in Sea of Thieves.
A PC player can respawn on a ship within 5 seconds after the underworld door opens. An Xbox player might have to wait 20+ seconds for the same scenario.
It can tilt the result of a ship battle.
Any load times over 30 seconds is a no no, especially if its repeated often time.
The drives on the Xbox One and PS4 are slow but another curprit is the weak CPU. That is why sometimes adding an SSD or Hybrid drive only decreses load times by a tad bit versus a good bit.
Quite noticeable in cross platform multiplayer games too. In Gears 4, a PC player loads in within 5 seconds but then has to wait 30+ extra seconds for everyone else (Xbox) to load in.
