Hi all, i'm an RTS fan, i have SCII, i don't have HotS because of 2 things: 1) SCII is hard enough to learn and i don't feel any need to buy the expansion.

2) I want BIGGER. starcraft is very complicated, very competitive and very entertaining. i can myabe compare it to CS on the FPS genre. the maps are very small, the matches are quick, and it's all about learning the game.

i want the RTS game that's equivalent to Planetside 2/Battlefield. BIG. not open world, but just huge battles, preferably sci-fi and multiplayer focused, without being completely competitive and can be played casually.

supreme commander 2 seems to hit all the right notes (together with WiC/Airland battle, but i think WiC is dead, and Airland battle is a bit too expansive to gamble, because i played WG:EE and didn't like it that much)

so my question is - should i get supreme commander 2?

and to be more accurate - is supreme commander 2's multiplayer still active?

so i played AVA back in the days it was brand new and awesome, and now i got CS:GO, and although it's vastly superior, i still miss AVA now and again. sadly, i'm region blocked on steam and i noticed aeria bought ijji.

so my questions are as followed -

1) is it active?

2) should i bother playing without steam? (ijji sucked when it came to patching and all that, is aeria this bad as well?)

I've only recommended 4 games on Steam with Gotham city Impostors making about 25 percent of them.  And here is it cut and pasted from my Steam Profile's Recommended List:

"I begin 2013 with Gotham City Impostors as my PVP game of choice. Initially I downloaded it 'cause it was free but the Gotham lore is a refreshing break from today's trend toward realism. Still, my expectations were low. I picked the game up here and there. Eventually this casual gaming hits the 36 hour mark and I was hooked. There are so many perks, playstyles and weapons to draw from that Gotham City Impostors truly is an underrated game. If you like pvp but don't want some 14-hear old named "EatMyD*ck" taunting and griefing you, then try this more casual, fun, though very tight and solid take on player-vs-player. There are some complaints about the peer-to-peer hosting but I've been disconnected fewer than 5 percent of the total times I've played. And once more, it's free."

Great.  Great game.  Very underrated.

well... yea, i know it's a good game, but the thing is, it's mp, and it's hard to play multiplayer games if there are no players on them :P

[QUOTE="S4E"]Wow, first of all thanks for the responses guys, there have been some good suggestions. From what I can gather, I think I might have gone with Distant Worlds, but if I need all the expansions to it as well, which seems to be the case, I can't justify the overall price tag of it. From some of the others that have been mentioned, I have played Sins of Solar Empire (haven't got a clue where it is now though), MOO2 as mentioned and Space Empires. GalCiv2 as well If I recall right. Tezcatlipoca666, I heard that Sword of the Stars 2 had quite a lot of problems, is that true (still)? I have to say I do like Paradox games in general though. Could someone say do they feel that modding/mods give some of the games mentioned any distinctive extras? I read that Endless Space has some mods (and would imagine SotS2 would have too seeing as it is a Paradox one), but other than that can't say much about them.

well distant worlds is definitively the best, and if you're really into 4x space games it justifies it's price tag. but if not, than i'd suggest you to go back and play GalCiv 2, because in my opinion it's the only other 4x space game that's really good :D

I have Distant worlds+all exppansions (it isn't worth the money without them), yes, it costs A LOT, like, over 60$ (i got it at a big discount and it cost 60$) but it's by far the best 4x space game i've ever played, the AI is good, the gameplay is deep, it has everything you'll ever need of a 4x game.

if you want something cheaper, but about as good, get GalCiv2, it's old, but it's still as good as ever. it has the best AI of all Civ games, and it's pretty darned good. you can get it on steam as well which is a bonus.

i only now saw it's f2p on steam, and i saw the WTF is on youtube, and it looks kind of fun, so my question is - do people actually play it? i mean, it looks fun, but not enough to actually last a full year with a good active community

i already have ArmA 3 alpha, and RO2, but i want a game that is both modern (like ArmA) and has smaller concentrated battles (like RO2), i heard America's Army 3 was like that, but it's so old i don'tknow if any1 plays it anymore.

so do u have suggestions or am i stuck with what i've got now?

Brink, although it's a fun game and it was on sale, it's so dead it makes a graveyard look lavish.

it's actually a real shame because i really enjoyed playing with bots and can only imagine how awesome it wold be to play with humans :P
