Garbage?! I've been a member since

Member since:

April 11, 2004

I've never once thought to myself.. Hmm Steam is complete garbage. Infact I've never minded it except for when Call of Duty 4 would always kick me out of a game because game overlay made it seem like I was cheating.. I disabled it for COD problem fixed.

I have 135 games on steam

I hate to be the person saying this.. But if you're having problems big enough to call Steam garbage.. It's probably your end. Select another download server, make sure files are verified... Make any firewalls, routers, antiviruses to allow Steam and games for windows live.

If you wouldve came here and said "Help I'm having a problem with a service 35 million people use without an issue" I wouldve been more kind.

I could have told you your issue isn't with steam. It's with Games For Windows Live, which doesn't have anything to do with Steam. GFWL is known for it's problems.

And you're missing out by getting the console version. No overlays for spawning weapons and vehicles(At some point.. GTA is just meant to be cheated). No mods, no customn anything, no 1080p.

Well some game engines it would be hard to make an editor they can distribute, like the engine bad company 2 was made on, the compiling can take days and hard to put in a new environment do to instability with different hardware and software quirks Some devs just don't want to put in the effort to make one. Some devs don't want mods or maps of their games, like MW2, which thrived on expensive map pack they distributed, the want for them would be lessened if there was a huge amount of community made maps for free.ferret-gamer

Yes I hate that. Long after MW2 came out, I was still playing MW1 paintball servers.

I've noticed this topic commented on randomly throughout other posts. So this is the salute. Where are the modding tools for all the PC games out there?

I think Starcraft II has a great map editor, and it also has top notch map/game creators. Everything from third person rpgs, to FPS games are released on battle.net all the time by modders from around the globe. Although Starcraft II is my own personal exception, the rest of my games don't have a map editor or modding tools. What happened to all of them?

Who else misses modding tools?

What are you talking about missing modding tools? Most games still include them..

You have UDK,SDK, G.E.C.K, I don't know the name of their mod tools, but you can mod RE5, Dead Rising 2, Oblivion, S.T.A.L.K.E.R(By the way, STALKER has some pretty crazy mods, some that almost create a whole new game)

You're right. Wish I could change the topic name to "Why don't more games have modding tools?"

The point is though, do you wish for more games to have modding tools, or are you happy with the amount of games that release modding tools already?

I guess I'm happy. STALKER and SDK both offer more mods than I could ever find the time to play.

OP: I literally have hundreds of games and most of them are pristine boxed versions, dating back to the early 90s. You're far from being as big of a dork (collector) as me.

StrawberryHill

One of my prized games that are still in the wrapper.. Earthbound for SNES. Which is worth around 400 dollars. :)

If you want scary, download Amnesia. I've played probably well over 100 horror/survival games over the years, and this was the first one I've ever had to pause and just come back to reality to make my heart stop pounding.

I know you said you don't fancy M+KB so why are you playing PC games again? Why not get the console version? I just don't get it. You're a PC gamer. Yes, i understand that some games play much better with a controller, like Assassin's Creed, racing games, etc... but Duke Nukem is better played with M+KB imho. Or am I understanding you wrong and you just don't like M+KB for DNF specifically? Elann2008

I agree a little.. But theres still some shooters such as borderlands that I'd rather be able to recline my office chair and play with a controller. Now, something like BF2 I have to use a kbm.

The ridiculousness of this question is ummm...yeah...Valve doesn't have anything to do with Mass Effect?

rben21232

I can easily say that Valve has nothing to do with RIFT, Homefront, Red Faction: Armageddon, The Witcher 2, Magic The Gathering, the list goes on.

Which is why there are no hats for those games??? I'm failing to see what you're trying to get at here..I'm just saying there aren't going to be "hats" based upon these games because Valve has no rights over the content within those games.

You sure? lol

While they aren't TF2 hats, they are TF2 items. I got them for my pre-order of the CE of Rift..

Maybe next time you'll show respect to others, before you make yourself look like an ass.

People are always complaining about it if a new game supports it, people say its useless and its going to die etc. I think its grate and a good point to choose nvidia over ati. ATI always told us how its obsolete when dx11 comes out and it will be replaced by openCL. But jet there are still coming physx games like alice madness or the upcoming batman again. Its not dead and there are rumors that ATI will support physx for their next generation gpus.

The truth is nvidia has a powerful lobby in releasing and developing pc games, every game that has their logo on the box was patched, helped and in some case developed by nvidia. Its easy for them to ask the developers to add physx into their games. Free work for nothing. PC gamer should be glad if their games have physx, what would games like alice, mirrors edge, batman and Mafia 2 be without it? Cheap Console Ports thats the sad truth.

lemme guess... You're a nvidia fanboy?
