OHHH!!!! He could also try Amnesia: the Dark Descent, if he really wants immersion and huge scares.Ill list some games that may have some of what you are looking for, hard to find all the things, since Metro (and indeed stalker) ar fairly unique games, but:
Cyrostasis
Singularity: how odd it may sound this game, although very arcady does have a few tones, and the feeling of isolation from time to time, but it IS an arcade shooter, and only slightly resemble the requirements there is alot of handholding in it, and can feel restrictive, ironic in some story sense apoc.
FEAR 1: Very much not what you are looking for in most of the things, but it does have the odd sense of isolation and foreboding, it also has alot of handholding, but the atmosphere is a slightly tense, dark, and hostile atmosphere, not really bright and cheery. Not post apoc, just abandoned.
Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth: being part adventure, part fps, this game ironically does fit what you are looking for a bit, just a warning, that it IS somewhat buggy on some modern machines. It is dark, it does have most of the things you mentioned about Metro, but graphically it does not give a good first impression. But it is hostile, has a feeling of isolation, andthe sort of unease that stalker had. it is not really linier either, but about as much as Metro was, I think. Not apoc, just ridden with things that makes your character go insane, and isolation (decaying towns and such).
That are sadly pretty much all the games I know that has just the slightest feeling that Metro gave me, the eastern european games are very unique in their tone and feel, so the best bet would likely be cyrostasis, followed by Call.

Or, chaser can stand on the cliff edge and finish you off from above, depending on how high the fall is xDTIL: Equip your 50% fall damage trait when in WvW. Run off a cliff when chased and the chaser will jump too.
The chaser falls to their death.
Hilarious.

Well for one I move my character to a lot of different places so she always has something fresh to do. And I've seen a of people really enjoy collecting views and figuring out how to reach them, me included. I guess this game is not your thing, a person shouldn't have to try to like a game, the liking should come naturally.I have tried to like the game....and tried and tried but it's just not happening. I just don't see why people think it's so great.BSC14
Same here, been busy playing Payday and reading comics : DNothing so far. Granted, I haven't played GW2 for the better part of three weeks.

Yeah the singleplayer is pretty nice in my opinion. It was pretty well designed. I personally didn't prefer the part at the very end (I won't spoil it for anyone here), but I guess it had to happen that way.So, if you're like me you bought BF3 and jumped straight into the multiplayer. I love the game and have spent many, many hours playing the MP but never touched the SP until a few days ago after talking to a friend about it. Ive played through a good bit of it (I think) and it isnt that bad. The gunplay is satsifying - however quickly the enemies die - and the pace is nice. Sure theres nothing spectacular about the story but the story isnt bad either. Its something out of a movie. I also liked that it was coherent for the most part. I was able to follow the story and all the missions related to main problem as opposed to just being a random explosion of action. I havent liked a CoD campaign, for example, since probably MW1 or World at War or maybe MW2 but even MW2 wasnt that great.
Anyway, that said - why all the hate for the SP? I feel like they did a good job and the visuals were great. Whats your take?
