I have never played any Wolfenstein games, but their reputation procedes them. If the next gameplay trailers get my attention, I would love to start the series from the beginning.
Now that I think about it, some modern videogames help too in teaching or giving new experiences that are artificial yet very useful for life. Could be something like watching an inspiring movie, with the diference that you are the protagonist and you control what you do, and you feel like you are in that fictional world (Which is, a very big difference IMO). Again not all games of course, but in my case, the Metal Gear Solid series have thought me a lot, specially the MGS3. Other fans will know what I'm talking about.

In theory of psychology, distraction HELPS any kind of depression. Video games are one of thr greadest distractions we know in modern times, no question about it, no studies needed or anything, this is something we just know for sure for common sense and experience. If it is or not the best healthy way of distraction or not is another issue.
This is actually nothing new or impressive. Even when MGS4 is an old game from 2008, it's too great and superior in all aspects from most modern games: it's visuals, the sound, the overal gameplay mechanics, the cutscenes... just not for DVD's. MGS4 was one of the first-main reasons to prove that the ps3 has always been a superior console.
