[QUOTE="Wickerman777"][QUOTE="superclocked"]Only the PS4 is supposedly balanced for 14CU's being used for graphics. As for the 12CU's in the XB1, there are actually 14 of them, but 2 are disabled. Microsoft got better performance with 12 overclocked cores than 14 stock cores...superclocked
It doesn't matter if there are 2 disabled CUs. If they aren't being used there's no point in mentioning them.
lol, you're the one that brought them up and asked a question about them :| Microsoft considered unlocking them and using 14 CU's, but they got better performance results by overclocking the 12 CU's... No, that has nothing to do with why they didn't unlock all 14. Their GPU has 14, they locked 2 for redundancy. Unlocking them and having 14 be your standard would mean you are MUCH more likely to inherit hardware issues on the production line. Sony had 20 and they locked 2 as well. They did the same thing on the Cell by locking one of its cores. What cracks me up is that i'm being called a Sony fanboy when meanwhile there is a person on this VERY THREAD who knows the exact game i'm working on. He'd never call me a Sony fanboy, i'm sure ;)

Actually, spoke to a mod at GAF. XBOunity, how much DOES astroturfing pay nowadays anyway?
XBOunity
yes i saw my ban reason. bish thinks im being paid. This just goes to show you how biased that site truly is. Or maybe it just is him. He just banned another guy for no reason. Kanthony.... pathetic... I have to lol at him thinking that, anyone who knows me here knows what I do. Im not being paid, you on the other hand ..... talking about XBO UI when you never ever used it. lets play a game, we can pretend that im being paid by MSFT, lets then pretend you are an actual dev. Neogaf is crashing and burning, gotta love it.
You get paid to do grassroots marketting for MS on website forums. Just stop.
So I guess this is a roundabout way of saying they plan on cutting Kinect in the future. Day 1 buyers to be ripped off confirmed.Â
yea I meant for ps4 and xb1, I've seen the nba 2k next gen vid and it trully does look next gen, titanfall doesnt look very next gen-ish but the gameplay does. Â As for the disconnect it seems like the X1 has more a pc feel than console. Â Im having a hard time deciding which to get at launch is all. Â

Hmmm. Well look, I have a slight bias that was forward with extensive first-hand experience with these consoles. I know which one I can recommend, but I have got to give you this piece of advice:
If you are torn on your decision, and neither have made this solid case of "go buy at launch", then do yourself a favor and hang back for at least 6 months. Heck, waiting till next E3 might not be a terrible idea. Sure, it puts off your next-gen start slightly, but you'll have a better idea of more in-depth and wide varieties of first-hand impressions of these boxes, you'll have a better idea of what the face of year 2 exclusives look on both platforms, and you'll be able to avoid buyers remorse if a more appealing bundle or price cut rear their heads.

I use an Xbox One for work everyday. It's super quiet, the controller is nice but not _as_ good as the 360 pad (use it everyday as well, so I have compared the two multiple times).
I'd rather not get into graphical performance, rustles too many feathers around here. If you're interested in the console, are already a part of the Windows 8 ecosystem, and don't mind the hefty price point, i'm sure you'll enjoy it just fine.

well I just want to know if you notice a next gen leap or not. Â I use a mac, btw and i heard windows 8 sucks....but im just using it for gaming and netflix and hbo go.
Hmmmm, well if you aren't super integrated into the Windows 8 experience, and are looking for a box that plays 'next-gen' games, netflix & other services, this may not be the box for you right at this moment. I really don't like the Windows 8 'feel' of the OS. Having all of my basic services, like friends lists and parties, set up & run like they are apps just leaves this weird feeling of disconnect between those basic services and the OS. It's a disconnect I have had a hard time describing.
As far as noticing a next-gen leap.... i'd say it isn't as pronounced as it was going from Xbox/PS2 to 360/PS3. At least not with anything i've played from MS. The multiplatform stuff that i've played has all been on PS4, so I wouldn't be able to tell you how their performance holds up on the One. Having said that, there are a few games that you can see the difference between current gen and next-gen as clear as day & night, Watch_Dogs being the biggest one so far. I think if you can get behind the look of that game, then you'll be satisfied. The games I have experienced on the console look fine, play fine. I'd say do not go into next-gen expecting to be WOWED for at least a year.
There are some pieces of software out there that are scratching the surface, but this is going to be a new-gen that isn't going to really be able to shine until it can shake off the shackles of having cross-gen game support (meaning teams have to make 360/PS3 versions). The faster the adoption rate is for the new consoles, the faster we can start taking better advantage of them. Look at the exclusives if you want to see how the box's graphics hold up. Particularly, start looking in NOVEMBER, as that will be pretty much final optimizations and a better indicator of how games are going to look on day 1.
