Ah nice. So you're happy with your xarmor? I wanted U9BL-2 because of the brown switches. There is a forty or fifty dollar difference between the two so I wanted to see if the Deck Legend is worth that extra cash over the XArmor. My laptop has only four USB ports so for my to use that backlighting means taking up two usb ports which I'm not entirely happy about.

Yeah with PS/2 you have NKRO but when usingUSB I think it only has 6NKRO. I'm using a ASus G73JH so I don't have the option of using PS/2. I'm going to be buildig a desktop sometime down the line so that is the reason I wanted to have a keyboard with a PS/2 option then only USB like the Razer blackwidow.

Okay, thanks for all the advice that everyone gave. I did my research on mechanicl keyboards, what switch type I would prefer, Key cap printing, USB/PS2, and everything else. So after reading, watching and hunting for reviews on mechanical keyboards. I decided I prefered cheery brown, backlit, dye sublimination or double shot with both or the ability to switch between USB and PS/2. My choices came down to the Deck Legend and XArmor U9BL-S Now I know that some people who answered on this topic got the Deck LEgend and I wanted to ask them if they feel good about the purchase. The deck legend Ice with tactile switches (Which I believe is the clear switches, which is suppose to be a stiffer brown) and if anyone has tried the Xarmor U9BL-S (Has cherry brown). My only drawback back with the Xarmor is that I would need to use a separate USB port for the backlighting when I believe that the Deck only requires 1 USB port altogether.

PRice for the Deck legend Ice tactile is $169 + shipping

For the XArmor U9BL-S is $135 + shipping

Cool cool. Thanks for all the advice about the mechanical keyboards. I wouldneed to do some more research on them, Deck seemed to have a pretty nice and the price seems fair for what I'm seeing with mechanical keyboards and having it be backlit is also a big plus over the Steel series G7. Anyone use the razor ultimate blackwidow or the das model S at all?

Nice. I read all the information on that website. I was looking at mechanical keyboards and saw a few but wasn't sure if they were better for gaming or not. The two that I see that popped out to me were the Razer black widow ultimate and the Das model S. Do you have any of these at all and what you think of them?

Hi, I'm looking into getting a keyboard preferrably for gaming. I did some research and there seems to be a few that always come up. I wanted to create this topic to get some feedback from people who use gaming keyboards and get their experience on them. The ones that seem to get generally good feedback are the

Merc Stealth

Seitek Cyborg

Logitech G11/15

SteelSeries ZBoard/Shift

Razer Tarantula

I don't really play first person shooters on my comp. The main games I played are SCII, DA:O, Mass Effect 1 & 2, DA II, and WoW. I try to get games for my computer that I can't for my PS3. Oh yeah, my laptop is a Asus G73JH A1 so if anyone cares about looks and what goes with what. Umm not sure what else to add. So if people could share their experiences with these keyboards or any others that I haven't mentioned would be helpful. Thanks.

Wow thanks for the all replies, I really enjoyed reading your posts on your opinions on the current gen of gaming. I agree with everyone's points here and there. Definitely the 3rd person shooters have increased in quality with a standout like Uncharted 2. The helicopter chasing you as you jump from one building to the next is a moment where I couldn't believe this type of game was created.

As for JRPG's, do you guys really think that they will make a comeback to significants anytime soon, gameplay wise. A great story is a great story no matter what genre. But with games like Fallout 3, ME series, Demon Souls making a huge splash in the RPG category I personally find it hard to go back and play traditional JRPG's and shell out $60 for them. Like I said before, I can go back and play JRPG's like xenogears, Legend of the Dragoon but mainly because of memories.

FPS definitely made a change for the better in the beginning I believed. When CoD:MW came out, I was blown away by how it looked and played. I never seen a FPS like that before because I think all we had at that time was.... Perfect Dark? But obviously CoD:MW was done to death by every other shooter coming out because the developers are simply copying a winning formula that now it feels stagnant again.

For me, I think the games that really introduced next-gen gaming was Bioshock and MGS4. Bioshock story was great, exploring and discovering the world of rapture, the powers, upgrading, picking out skills and ablilities were all tied together beautifully. MGS4 was jaw dropping to me and actually ruined gaming for me for a bit because the games that followed didn't give me that same "oh my god this is unbelieveable" feeling.

I was going through some games online to check out what kind of game I want to get and started thinking about the evolution on this particular generation of games. My thoughts are the action adventure games really seemed to shine this generation with games like vanquish, bayonetta, uncharted, and infamous. These are not the only games but just ones that came immediately to mind. I think the RPG generation also made a huge evolution than what I was used with the past generations. When the PS3 came out, I was expecting RPG's like FF:X, Suikoden, and Dark Cloud 2. With Mass Effect 2 and Dragon age: Origin really evolving the formula from KOTOR and Jade Empire I really think that the old style of RPG's like mention above is pretty much done. ME: 2 is one of my top favorites from story to gameplay and how much the game simply sucked me in. Origins took me some time to get into but really enjoyed that I stuck it out to play the whole way through. Fallout 3 was the first person RPG I played and I gave hours of my life into that game exploring the wasteland with dogmeat. Besides some old school favorites like Xenogears it really is hard for me just to play a old school RPG's unless they have a special place in my heart. I don't play too many sports games so I'm not sure how much they benefited besides the inclusion of online play, Madden has been static for years but seems with NBA 2k11 really set the bar for sports games now.

I wanted to get everyone elses thoughts on how they feel about this generation of games rather if they met your expectations you had in 2005 or how you feel about the direction some genres are taking.

My budget is about at the alienware configuration. I was thinking about building a "badass" pc but I won't be at home much to use between my school, training, and work. so I want to have a laptop that pretty much did what I wanted it to.
