Ok, first off, while RE1 Remake was better than the original, 2R and 3R were certainly not, which does not have me excited for future remakes.

That being said, I actually just finished playing RE4 on PS4 to familiarize myself since I hadn't played this game since the Wii version came out and... the game has not aged well. The controls are complete garbage (particularly being able to look/aim) so porting this to the new RE engine and giving it the modern mechanics of 2R/3R sounds like a great idea. Also, I'm pretty sure the guy in this video is the only person left on the planet who likes QTEs, so those gotta go in the remake.

As far as changing the characters/story elements goes... while it might be nice to have Ashley be less of an annoying bitch and be more helpful (such as spotting enemies or picking up and throwing a rock a-la Ellie from Last of Us), I feel like changing the plot/characters is where Capcom is failing big time and is the main problem with these latest remakes. If 2R had come out this year and 3R next year, I think we might have gotten much better games, instead each felt half-baked and gave me the impression that Capcom is just rushing to get them released so they can make some cash. Giving 4R a 2022 release date also lends credence to that notion as that seems like far to little time to do this game justice.

I guess the bottom line is: at this point I just don't trust Capcom with remaking beloved games anymore.
