PS3, Music and iOS...Oooooh Myyyy!

Good ole George Takei scares my wife when he says that. Anyways, just an update in case someone out there is paying attention.

I'd like to start with a PS3 update.

  • I finally got the system online and managed to set up Netflix and MLB.TV. (both of which look/work great) I haven't done any multiplayer though...yet.
  • In my last update I mentioned that I had completed Batman AA, Uncharted and God of War. Since then I have completed God of War 2, GoW 3, Uncharted 2 and Bioshock. I started 3D Dot Game Heroes but just couldn't get into the game. I put it down for now and instead started MSG4. The jury is still out as I feel that MSG4 is doing most of the playing.
  • This week I purchased Eternal Sonata, Brutal Legend, Bayonetta and Enslaved: Odyssey to the West.

I also ordered a few CDs off amazon since my music wishlist is huge and the last CD I bought was around Christmas time. I still have like 35 "must have" CDs to get if I include the new Radiohead, Foo Fighters, TV on the Radio and Fleet Foxes. New CDs on the way include:

  • The Beatles (5 cds): Let it Be, Help!, A Hard Days Night, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and the White Album (which I think is a double disc so actually qualifies as 6 cds)
  • Radiohead (4 cds): Kid A, In Rainbows, Hail to the Theif and Amnesiac
  • Incubus: Make Yourself (I used to have this CD but it went missing. figured I'd re-buy it)
  • Weezer: Pinkerton
  • Guster: Easy Wonderful
  • Green Day: Warning
  • Dave Matthews Band: Busted Stuff
  • The Raconteurs (2 cds): Consolers of the Lonely and Broken Boy Soldiers

Recent iOS games purchased include:

  1. Tiny Wings (can't put this down)
  2. Hot Springs Story (next game from the "Game Dev Story" people)
  3. 6th Planet (Lunar Lander knockoff, but well made)
  4. Starfront Collision (Gameloft's Starcraft-clone)
  5. Sacred Odyssey (Gameloft's Zelda-clone)

(iTunes says I currently have 192 apps)

Thanks for reading and I hope all is well!

New GameSpot Level and a Gaming Update

Just reached level 32 on GameSpot so I'll use that as an excuse to do an update!

I bought my PS3 on 1-8-11 and already I've completed 3 PS3 games. I didn't platinum any of them though and I'm not sure I will. The trophies are nice but not nice enough to make me want to replay games. Do any of you replay games just for trophies?

So far I've finished Batman: Arkham Asylum, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, and God of War. (in that order) I am also a healthy way through both God of War 2 and Darksiders. I figure I'll just keep with the GoW trilogy until completion and then finish off Darksiders. After that, I will most likely move on to 3D Dot Game Heroes and/or Uncharted 2. My PS3 hasn't even been online yet....

Has everyone decided if they are buying either/both of the newly anounced hand-helds? I am still on the fence for both systems.

As some of you may know, I sold off my once-sizable DS collection last year and haven't really missed it (except for Prof Layton). I can't help but think "meh" when I see 3D as the main selling point of the 3DS.

As for the Sony one, I barely play my PSP as it is. If the Go was $250 new, I can't help but think the NGP (PSP2?) is going to be closer to $350. I know gaming is an expensive hobby but sometimes there just isn't enough money to go around.

Not to mention that my iPod Touch has pretty much taken over my need for portable-quick-fix-gaming. Obviously price and time are issues as well. I barely have enough time as it is for my PS3, let alone my anything else. I don't know how some of you juggle so many systems.

Until next time...

I'm looking for some App Store recommendations.

I have a healthy list going (mostly games) for my iPod Touch. I'm just curious if there are any "must have" apps/games out there that I am currently missing. I currently have a 64GB 3rd Gen Touch so I don't have a camera. Apps that use a camera are ok though since my wife's ipod has the camera and I might end up with an iPhone this summer.

Here are the apps I currently have:

Games: Peggle, Plants Vs. Zombies, Bejeweled 2, Bookworm, Angry Birds/AB Holiday, DoodleJump/DJ Holiday, Cut the Rope/CtR Holiday, Canabalt, Flight Control, Solipskier, Axe in Face, Sword & Poker/S&P 2, Robot Unicorn Attack (all 3 versions), Infinity Blade, Game Dev Story, Hook Champ, Super Quick Hook, Hook Worlds, Ynth, Beyond Ynth, Bit.Trip.Beat, Shibuya, Super Laser:The Alien Fighter, iFighter 1945, Knight's Rush, Knight's OnRush, Minigore, Toki Tori, Still Pond, Mecho Wars, Ragdoll Blaster/RB 2, Osmos, Pix'n Love Rush, Cat Run, Hoggy, Ozone, Battle of Puppets, Aerox, Squareball, Vector Runner, Critter Crunch, Kosmo Spin, Sentinel 2/Sentinel 3, Helsing's Fire, Dark Void Zero, Mega Man 2, Galaxy on Fire, Splode, Meow Meow Happy Fight, Mr Runner, Doodle Fit, Mega Jump, Doodle Invaders, Spirit, Solomon's Boneyard/Solomon's Keep, muBlip, Creeps!, Spinzizzle, Hi How Are You, NinJump, OMG Pirates!, NinjaTown Trees of Doom, Trainyard/Trainyard EX, Skee-Ball, Saving Private Sheep, Wispin, Chop Chop Caveman, Cartoon Wars 2, Smurfs, Civilization Revolution, Eternal Legacy, Superblox, Pig Rush, Robocalypse, Cover Orange, GravBot, Secret of Monkey Island/Monkey Island 2, Broken Sword, Myst, USA Today Crosswords, Quordy, Muddled, Drop7, Sudoku2Pro, PathPix/PathPixPro, WordsWorth, Marple, Wordflick Pro, Words with Pirates, The Deep Pinball/Jungle Pinball/Wild West Pinball, Catcha Mouse, iDroidsMania, Melon Golf

Any suggestions/help would be appreciated!

So the cool kids call it a PSWii?

As the title suggests, I now own both a PS3 and Wii.

I purchased a 320GB Slim this past Friday, along with Red Dead Redemption and Batman: Arkham Asylum. After only a weekend with the system, I must say that I am excited about gaming again. RDR and B:AA are both excellent games....so much so that I had trouble putting them down long enough to do more family/holiday gatherings this weekend. :P

I have a few more games on the way that I purchased with Christmas money and gift cards. I'm always open to more suggestions though.

RDR

B:AA

3D Dot Game Heroes

Bioshock

Bioshock 2

Darksiders

Dead Space

Demon's Souls

The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion (Game of Year Edition)

God of War Collection (with extra dual-shock controller)

Little Big Planet

Metal Gear Solid 4

NHL 11

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

Valkyria Chronicles

Why didn't anyone convince me to buy this sooner?!

I hope everyone is doing well (plus a gaming update)

Life: Hiya folks! Just wanted to wish everyone Happy Holidays. I trust you are all doing well? I managed to get my shopping done early this year and almost all of it was online. I spent nearly 30 minutes trying to leave the parking lot of the one mall trip I did have...ugh!

My wife and I exchanged our gifts a week early because she was going to Florida with her mother. She got me a Kindle and I love it. So much so that I might get my books through there from now on....unless of course they don't come in a Kindle edition.

Gaming:

My wife played some Wii dance game at her friends house a couple weeks ago. She enjoyed it so much that she went and ordered the Red Wii console bundle and it arrived earlier today from Amazon. Although I know I probably shouldn't, I am going to build up our Wii collection again. I already have a healthy list going but I'm open to any suggestions as well.

My wish list so far: SMG, SMG 2, SSBB, RE 4, Okami, No More Heroes, NMH 2, Super Paper Mario, Twilight Princess, Kirbys Epic Yarn, Metroid Other M, Little Kings Story, Punch Out!!, MarioKart, DKCR, and if I can find it used I'll get the MP Trilogy. I have Muramasa, Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom and Sin and Punishment on my list as maybes. Did I miss anything? If so, let me know what you do and don't like about a game(s) you recommend.

I won't be lurking around Gamespot as much

I just sold most of my games/gaming stuff so I won't have a reason to come around as much. Not sure who cares but letting y'all know just in case. All I have left is my PSP Go (because of PSN stuff...can't sell so figured I'd keep it) and my iPod Touch. It's been real. It's been fun. It's been real fun...

Club Nintendo Prizes for 2010

It is that time of year again when members of the North American Club Nintendo rewards program who reached gold/platinum status will get to see/pick out their prizes. I reached Platinum again for 2010 and will be getting the statue. On a side note, I already reached platinum for next year as well. Below are this year's rewards.

Spirit Tracks over? *Minor spoilers*

Tonight at approx 10:45 PM I finally completed The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. Phew! *wipes brow*

I managed to finish with all of the rabbits, all heart containers, all stamp stations in the book, all bomb bags, all quivers, all train pieces, both sword scrolls, the Diamond card from Beedles shop and I'm pretty sure that I found all the tracks/stations as well.

Did anyone else complete the game yet? If so, did you do all the sidequests or just plow through the main game?

Verizon Cell Phones...need help deciding.

Hey guys and gals. I am past due for a new cell phone on Verizon and I'm having some trouble deciding. I thought I had found a good one in the Samsung Rogue but not when it requires a data plan(extra $$$).

So now I'm not sure what to do. My wife currently has the LG Voyager but LG has been notoriously bad as far as call quality/signal strength. She also hates the UI and the crap touch screen. This leaves me wondering if the spiritual successor to the Voyager, the EnV Touch, will have the same issues?

I was also looking at the EnV 3 but I've read alot of negative reviews talking about phone freezing, random shut-downs, bad signal/call quality.

This is where you all come in. I'm basically looking to get something that is good in the call quality department(which seems to be rare these days) and ALSO has a keyboard for texting. I can't include any of the PDA/Smartphones because of the added costs. If anyone owns the EnV Touch or EnV 3, what are your thoughts on it? What are your negatives about the phone? How is your call quality on both ends? Thoughts on other current verizon cell phones are ok as well.

Thanks in advance!
