Summer's almost over

I'm back from Grandma's. Summer's almost over. School starts on Wednesday. And I'm just finishing up my summer homework.

I know it's a really short blog, but I'm getting off now to go finish Geography summer homework.

I'll post again soon in a longer blog, I hope.

Oh, and I've got my cell phone back once I finish this map!

I'm now actually looking forward to school starting

Why the sudden change?

Well, after last night, let's just say that school looks like heaven right now, in some ways. It's heaven because I'll get away from my mother for a few hours each day (I am extremely angry with her and my father right now after our fight last night).

In other ways, it's going to be hell. The biggest reason of this is that my parents and I are constantly arguing over homework and work ethic, and I bet it's gonna happen again this year.

So, yeah.... I'm refusing point-blank to even speak to my parents (and I expect that I probably won't speak with them for quite some time), I'm that angry with them. I'm still on speaking terms with my brother, but it's very cordial. And as another result of the fight, I'm not going to Denver. Fine by me, it'll give me peace and quiet at my grandmother's house away from those two crazy parents of mine. Sure, I'll take some blame for the fight, but they're also partially responsible, though Mum says that she's not gonna accept any blame. Another result of the fight is that I'm not supposed to be on right now, but I snuck on to let you all know that I'd had another big fight with my mother and father, and that I'm not going to be on very often (if at all, I'll have to sneak on) for the rest of the summer..... the next time I'll post a blog will probably be after school starts and I have a chance to get on the computer.

So, yes. Particularly bad fight.... they took away my cell phone "to check my text messages" (in their language, take it away for ages), I've been kicked off the computer permanently, and there's no way in hell I'm going to have any TV. At least when school starts I'll still have Cross Country meets to go to (thank God, I'll be able to get away from Mum on Saturday mornings), and football games, and my friends.... *sigh*

See you around eventually, guys....

UPDATE: I'm still point-blank refusing to speak to my mother, except only for when I'm spoken to by her, but my father and I are on strained speaking terms now. My brother and I are fine.

Back for 6 days, then gone for 5 more days, then school starts 3 days later.

Crazy way to end the summer, eh?

Anyway, Tennessee was fun, as always.

We got to my aunts around 5 pm on Thursday, and had dinner.

My brother and I went swimming every day of the vacation. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, twice a day, my uncle, brother and I went over to my cousin's house to feed his three dogs in his backyard (the fourth, Tiffany, was staying with my aunt). Two golden Labs, Lexi and Annika are just over a year old, and the third, Buddy, is about 3 or 4. It's a zoo down there in Tennessee. My aunt has 3 dogs and 3 cats and add that with my cousin's family's 4 dogs, you have 10 pets in total to love and scratch and snuggle. Tiffany, who was staying at my aunt's, woke me up every single morning (thankfully, after 9 AM), by licking me, in particular my ears.

On Sunday evening, my cousin and his pregnant wife and their 7-year old son (Who is my second-cousin... Well, his step-son, it's her son from an earlier marriage) arrived home with her mother from southern Alabama. Monday and Tuesday, we hung out and swam together with my uncle, on Monday night, my brother, cousin, second-cousin, uncle and I went out to play baseball. It was just like a batting practice, the three kids batted (I hit 6 homers), while everyone else fielded, and my uncle played the role of catcher.

Wednesday, we left my aunt's at 10 am, and got to the airport (it's the Nashville Airport, they live in southern Tennessee) at about 12:40. That was too early, we were waiting for our flight for two hours... it's because mum is paranoid with driving without my father and hates the rental car stuff.... we could've left an hour or so later....

Gone for a week.

Well, tomorrow morning, I'm heading down to southern Tennessee. I dunno if I'll be able to post a blog or not, I doubt it, I'll be busy having fun. Then, I'm back home for a week, and then I head out again to Denver (where I'll finish all of my summer homework). Why finish summer homework in Denver? Because it's for my brother, so I'll be bored.... :D

Baseball, baseball, baseball....

Today is the 2007 Hall of Fame Induction, with the inductees being Cal Ripken Jr. of the Baltimore Orioles and Tony Gwynn of the Padres.... so I thought that I'd list some of the greatest players as well as managers and executives in the history of baseball (along with their teams and Hall of Fame dates if I remember them... some that are listed are still active and some are retired, but not in the Hall of Fame) in honor of this event... Be prepared for a long list.

Many thanks to baseball-reference.com for their help!

So, here we go.

Honors Advanced Algebra, Polhill

8:54-9:46
Honors American History, Beguin

9:50-10:40
Junior/Senior PE, Roberts

10:44-11:34
Accounting I, Dervin

11:38-12:08 OR 12:32-1:02

11:38-12:28 OR 12:12-1:02
English Five, Neurauter

1:06-1:54
AP Human Geography, Landreth

1:58-2:46
Advanced Biology Genetics Semester, Hootman

The only course that I do not have both semesters is Advanced Biology, which is replaced by European History second semester.

Semester 2:

8:00-8:50
Honors Advanced Algebra, Polhill

8:54-9:46
Honors American History, Beguin

9:50-10:40
European History, Beguin

10:44-11:34
Accounting I, Dervin

11:38-12:08 OR 12:32-1:02
LUNCH

11:38-12:28 OR 12:12-1:02
Junior/Senior PE, Etheridge

1:06-1:54
AP Human Geography, Landreth

1:58-2:46
English Six, Neurauter

Honors Advanced Algebra should be much easier than Geometry, I am much better with equations rather than shapes and those damn proofs. And it doesn't hurt that we have the best math teacher in the school (teaching-wise) teaching us this year.

Honors American History is what I'm working on right now for my summer homework. I just finished reading "Killer Angels". It's about the Battle of Gettysburg in July, 1863. Beguin will be fun.

Junior/Senior PE first semester with Roberts will be hell (she's a dictator, but at least she gives some respect to us juniors and seniors) and it will be awesome second semester with Etheridge.

Accounting with Dervin should be a breeze. It's just basic math, and she makes it very easy.

English 5 and 6 with Neurauter will be boring. He's a nice guy, don't get me wrong, its just that dry voice that puts you to sleep instantaneously. :P

AP Human Geography with Landreth will be a lot of fun. I've had Landreth twice before now, and both times I've done extremely well in his courses.

Advanced Biology, it should be lukewarmly interesting. Out of the original biology topics, genetics was by far the most interesting for me. So I wound up taking this to kick out a Study Hall that I didn't really want, because my friend Jen (who is recently graduated) advised me NOT to take study halls in junior and senior year.

European History will be pretty cool. Beguin's teaching it, and European History has always fascinated me from the Romans to the World Wars.

So, I hope this year will be a much better year than last year academically, that's for sure. And I think it should be.

In other news...

This morning, at midnight, I went out and saw "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix". Sure, they left some stuff out, but that's going to happen when you convert books to movies. You don't want them to be fifteen hours long. Otherwise, just go freaking see it. The special effects are amazing. GO. SEE. IT. NOW.

A week from today, right around this time, my father and I will be flying off to Boston to tour a bit around Boston Thursday, go to a Red Sox game (against the White Sox!) and then we will go to New York on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I'll pick up "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" Saturday morning in New York before the first game of the doubleheader in Yankee Stadium. I'll read some Saturday night (probably like the first 3 chapters) and then read on the plane ride home. It'll be a fun trip!

Tomorrow, I have golf once again. Last week wasn't so great, I shot a lowly 59, which was well over my usual score. If I get anything over 49 tomorrow, I'm going to scream. In my mind at least.

Chicago White Sox sign Mark Buehrle to 4-year, $56,000,000 contract extension!

My favorite baseball team, the Chicago White Sox, who are 39-47 on the year, have signed their ace pitcher, Mark Buehrle, to a 4 year, $56 million contract extension to keep him in Chicago through the early 2010s!

So, each year Mark should get about $14 million, and it includes a "escalator clause", which means that if he gets traded during this extension, his contract goes to 5 years, $75,000,000, or $15 million a year. Now that he's here through 2011 or 2012, I don't think he'll be going anywhere anytime soon! I'm just so glad that he was able to re-sign! :D

GO WHITE SOX!

Yay, 1970s!

Why the heck am I doin' this? One, I'm very bored. Two, the 1970s are my favorite decade.

Seriously, the 1970s are my favorite decade.

Why?

As Shakespeare (I can't believe I'm quoting him here) said, let me count the ways (I'll do three).

1. Match Game. The 1970s version of this game show (other versions: 1962-1969, 1983-84 (a hybrid with Hollywood Squares) 1990-91 and 1998), which aired from 1973 to 1982 is my all-time favorite game show. The host was Gene Rayburn, and there were six celebrity panelists, three rotating and three regulars. The three regulars were Brett Somers, Charles Nelson Reilly, and Richard Dawson. This version was incredibly popular, and during the 1970s there were actually two versions running at the same time, the other being Match Game PM, running from 1975-1981 with the same format, same host... only it's at night, and there's a bucketload of more money.

2. Family Feud. Another famous byproduct of the 1970s, this game show hosted by 1973-1978 Match Game regular Richard Dawson ran from 1976-1985. You all know how Family Feud works, I'm sure, as there's yet another version (after the 1988-1995 run) airing as of right now.

3. Start of the Star Wars series. Star Wars IV: A New Hope premiered in spring of 1977. Need I say more?
