And I was wondering why were there so many similar gameplay mechanics between AC 3 and FC 3. So many, that it was disturbing...

I'm hesitating to buy this game. Although I loved Far Cry 2 despite ALL of its shortcomings (yes, ALL, including the guards that respawned every 5 minutes in checkpoints), I feel Far Cry 3 is too different. From what I've seen in gameplay videos and trailers, I dislike FC 3's island-jungle setting. It feels like a downgrade from Far Cry 2's empty albeit varied african landscapes. The setting is what bothers me the most. Other than that, I would like to ask some questions.

How much weapon variety does this game has? How deep is the customization system for this game?

Is the crafting system any good? Does it become useless at some point?

In comparison to Far Cry 2's map, how is Far Cry 3's map? Smaller? Bigger?

Is there more variety in vehicles this time? Boats? Cars?

Are weapons still prone to decay and jamming after time, like in Far Cry 2?

How much is there to do in this game? Are side missions worth it, or just repetitive?

I would really like to have these questions answered. Please, be honest. Thank you for your time.

(If you have not yet played the third Desmond mission, do not even read this. Spoilers.)

While I was going back to Abstergo as Desmond to rescue his father, I remembered how, in Assassin's Creed 1, an Assassin team supposedly tried to rescue Desmond. You heard gunfire and alarms and the team ultimately fails. So, when I just waltzed into Abstergo and single-handledly killed dozens of security guards with a hidden blade, I thought it was pretty contradictory. And when the guards are supposedly "authorized to emply lethal force" by Vidic, it does not get any harder at all. So, this implies that an entire Assassin Team, well equipped (it is made evident by the gunfire that you heard in AC1 that they have firearms) and well prepared cannot even make past the entrance of Abstergo Industries, but a single man who is at first only armed with an outdated blade can?

That really disappointed me. Throughout Assassin's Creed 2 and Brotherhood, if you read the emails, you kinda felt that the Assassin Order was helpless and that they DO have reasons to keep low profiles. This game, however, invalidates that feeling.

While I haven't played Far Cry 3, I quite enjoyed playing Far Cry 2. So my judgment on Far Cry 3 may be mistaken. I just finished Assassin's Creed 3. I disagree with previous posters on the story. Personally I thought AC3's story was great and had great characters, however, the ending pretty much ruins it. It just dissapoints you. Though I have not played Far Cry 3, critics do not exactly praise it for its story, and if FC 2 is anything to go by, I wouldn't doubt that. However, in terms of replay value and things to explore, Far Cry 3 probably beats Assassin's Creed 3 by a long shot. While AC 3 certainly has more replay value and more to offer than any of its predecessors, it still pales in comparison to what I have heard Far Cry 3 offers. I'd personally recommend you to rent AC 3 and see this for yourself. If you find that you can finish most of the game's side missions and "extras" within a rent period, then you should go for Far Cry 3. Otherwise, you have a tough decision to make.

I agree with OP. There should be more variety in the equipment we can get to use.

I'm a PS3 user (otherwise I wouldn't make this post here) and I enjoy Skyrim. I never had any major problems with the game at all, and I got at the beginning of this year. I never got any lag that would break my game or any odd glitches, and I have a gamesave that has around 98 hours of playtime (none of those hours have been spent on DLC content, as I have not yet bought it) I had not played this game for a while because I didn't have time. So yesterday, I booted up my PS3 to play Skyrim. The game opens up and tells me I have to install this 1.6 patch. I install it. I open my gamesave and go to Solitude, only to find that the "entrance" to Solitude is no longer there. Obviously, this means that there is no option that lets me press "X" when in front of the gate to go into Solitude and allow the game to load the city. I can "enter" the city because there is no gate, but NOTHING will show up. Just some choppy textures of the city's buildings. But other than that, no NPC's, no option to enter houses or shops. If I go further inside the city, the game crashes.

I tried many times to reload, reboot my PS3, because I thought the game just had not loaded things correctly. But the same thing happens. I tried fast traveling to Solitude, but this would only lead to me to an eternal loading screen - I swear I left the room and I came back 20 minutes later and the loading screen was still there.

I tried googling for something but apparently this glitch is somewhat uncommon. Correct me if wrong. Please, if anyone has a solution that does not involve starting over, tell me. I find it stupid how a patch ruined a game that was perfectly fine, at least for me.

Recently I got pretty strange system error. I turned my PS3 on and then I was notified that my PS3 didn't shut down properly the last time (this not being true, I shutted it down just normally) and that my hard drive might be corrupted. I was told to restart the system and it did a disk check by itself to make sure it wasn't corrupted. Thankfully everything was ok, but it scared me.

My PS3 is a 120 GB Slim, almost two years old by now. It had never happened to me before. As an additional fact, my PS3 tends to crash when playing Bad Company I, The Saboteur and Assassin's Creed games (Brotherhood and AC II) but ONLY those games. I also play Red Dead Redemption and Call of Duty Black Ops and it has never crashed on me with those games. When the games crash I have to restart the PS3. It mostly happens when I'm playing online.

Can anyone help me or give me some information?

They don't sell any full games like Grand Theft Auto 4, Assassin's Creed, Just Cause, FIFA, etc. in PSN as far as I know. There are some exceptions though, but I don't think the available catalog of full PS3 games is as varied as Steam's catalog is.
