The fact that it captures in the form of metaphor the stark, cynical pain of growing old and becoming an unwitting burden to your family?Makhaidos

Sure, you can reap a bunch of hidden metaphors from the novel such as some Christ-complex surrounding the main character, but in all, it comes across as a story about a self-pitying person who no one ever appreciated, finally realizing that once he had nothing to offer to the world, the world didn't care about him anymore than it cares about a roach.

Kafka's The Metamorphosis.

I suppose I can understand it if you were among the masses of unsuspecting junior high students who were required to analyze every syllable in the story for hidden meanings, but The Metamorphosis is amazing.

What in the world is there to like about the book?

This is essentially a fair representation of the plot:

I can trace my ancestry to Charlemagne, William the Conqueror, Emperor Valentinian I, Merovech (basis of the DaVinci code), and through Ragnar Lodbrok, the Norse pantheon. My mom accidentally stumbled onto that when she traced my father's side to the Tudor dynasty. It blew my mind, lol.

On my mother's side, I'm part Muscogee, French, and Spanish. There's a family legend about how my Spanish ancestor was awarded an island for bravery in the Battle of New Orleans, but we recently discovered the historical basis behind the myth.

Laihendi

I read that pretty much everyone of western Europe descent is descended from Charlemagne.

Not everyone has the documents to back that up.  :P

They're always blurry, because they're always fake.

Why did you understand how to pluralize "hornet" but not "bee" or "wasp"? All you do is add an "s". USING AN APOSTROPHE IS WRONG.

Just about every day. I'm a bartender/server, so I spend a lot of my time in a sit-down restaurant.
