[QUOTE="jang_nara"]so if i buy 500w PSU will it enough to support the whole system? if not how many watts recommended? and how about the motherboard?eVoInSaNe
Best bang for buck mobo if you don't plan on Crossfire is deffiantly the Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P.

Thumbs up for the motherboard :)

Pretty sure the ASUS Crosshair III supports AM3 sockets, which should be fine for the phenon II X4

Alright, I've been trolling quite a few forums for the past couple of weeks, trying to find info and what not about parts etc. This is my first time building a rig, so I would like some advice/tips and what not about the parts I've "chosen". I am doing this build in the UK, so conversion rate of GBP to dollars will be very high due to taxes, but the prices in the links are the cheapest in the UK. Im hoping to order parts in the next week or so, Im just waiting for my new desk to arrive :)

This rig will be for gaming!

CPU - Phenom II X4 BE - AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition 3.2 GHz Socket AM3 8MB Cache Retail Boxed Processor - Ebuyer

Mobo - Bit unsure on which one to get
Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P, AMD 790X, AM3, PCI-E 2.0 (x16), DDR3 1666(OC), SATA 3Gb/s, SATA RAID, ATX - Scan.co.uk
Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P, AMD 790FX, AM3, PCI-E 2.0(x16), DDR3 1666(OC), SATA 3Gb/s, SATA RAID, ATX - Scan.co.uk
Asus Crosshair III Formula, AMD 790FX, AM3, PCI-E 2.0(x16), DDR3 1600(OC)/1333, SATA II, RAID, ATX - Scan.co.uk

Case - Antec 902 - Antec 902 Nine Hundred Two Black ATX Case - No PSU - Ebuyer

GPU - HD 4890 - XFX HD 4890 1GB GDDR5 Dual DVI HDTV Out PCI-E Graphics Card - Ebuyer
Any recommendations of brand or certain models would be appreciated! I just chose this as it is cheapest one.

PSU - Antec TruePower New 750W Blue LED Fan Modular PSU - 80plus Bronze and SLI Certified 3x SATA - Ebuyer - Antec 750W

CPU Fan - Zalman CNPS 9700 LED Socket 754, 940, 775, 939 & AM2 CPU cooler - Ebuyer - Zalman 9700

Hard Drive - Western Digital 1TB Hard Drive SATA300 7200rpm 32MB Cache Caviar Black - OEM - Ebuyer - 1TB WD Black

RAM - Corsair 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz/PC3-12800 XMS3 DHX Memory Kit - Ebuyer - 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600Mhz

CD Drive - LG GH22NS40 22X SATA DVDRW/DL/RAM Black Bare Drive - OEM - Ebuyer

Think thats about it. I'm trying to keep my budget around £800~ or so (not including the monitor). So I'd most likely go for the cheaper mobo. Although I would like to leave myself open for crossfire down the line if I need it, so thats why I aint sure about shelling bit more for a FX mobo.

I do wanna ask if a FX mobo is required to use a single 4870x2 gpus. Maybe in a few years time I would get the next-next-next gen of a single crossfired gpu!

Oh I will be using a copy of window 7 RC till it comes out in the meantime.

I hope I havent forgotten anything. Your help and your time would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Oh and one last thing, any thoughts on these monitor -
Samsung SM2043BW 20" TFT Monitor 1680x1050 8000:1 300cd/m2 5ms VGA/DVI Height Adjust Black 3 Years Warranty - Ebuyer
**10 Cashback** Samsung T200 20" TFT Monitor 1680x1050 20000:1 2ms DVI/VGA Rose Black 3 Years Warranty - Ebuyer
Samsung SM2243BW 22" TFT Monitor 1680x1050 300cd/m2 8000:1 5ms VGA/DVI 16:9 Black 3 Years Warranty - Ebuyer
(not part of budget.. but I wouldnt wanna spend more then 150quid on a monitor)

Oh damn and one one last thing.. Im not sure whats a good spec for a wireless card thingy!

Im starting to get an idea of the cpu and mobo being able to handle crossfire (sometime in the future..) however, what kind of PSU would I need for two 4890s? would a 750W be enough?

oh and 1 last thing about the mobo, as Im looking to use a AMD Phenom II X4 AM3, Im bit confused between mobos which say 790GX and 790FX.. the FX seem more expensive..

As the topic suggest, Im looking for bit of help/advice/info on building my first computer.. for the sole purpose of gaming.

Im looking to spend around ~800 GBP

Im hoping to be able to run crysis with this rig at MAX.. to well future proof it..

I been looking through sites like scan.co.uk but apart from CPU and GPU.. I have no idea what to do about cases, fans, cooling stuff, PSU and what not.

Please help!

It depends if you have mates round often and what type of games you lot play as a group. I own 4 controllers mainly so we can play 2v2 in Pro/fifa and I got them all to play COD4, 4 player splitscreen. There arent that many games out there that support 4-player, really need a 4 player splitscreen FPS where you can put in bots.

I always buy fifa and pro. Normally I prefer Pro's gameplay but I tend to play fifa more due to its managers mode. However, in the 08 version, fifa had gameplay covered aswell. Pro 08 on the next gen console was awful, it just didnt feel right.

Hopefully Pro will regain its title in 09
