SkeletalKnight Blog

Answers, and second chance for questions.

Horseyjesse:

Besides video games, I enjoy spending time with friends or my girlfriend, listening to music or going to concerts, reading, working with computers, and working with Warhammer models.

Favorite Movies: most things from the war/comedy/action and some drama movies. For personal favorites, Lord Of The Rings, Saving Private Ryan, The Dark Knight, 300, and the Underworld movies.

Favorite Music: Hard Rock/Heavy Metal mostly; Metallica is my #1 favorite, followed by Disturbed, Dragonforce, Mudvayne, Static-x, Atreyu, and others, all in no particular order. I do enjoy some lighter music, like Dire Straits, Eagles, and The Police.

Favorite Books: Ive read so many books over the years, it's hard to pick favorites. I've been a huge fan of the Redwall, Drizzt Do'Urden, and Gaunt's Ghosts (and other Warhammer series) series, but my alltime favorites are the Lord of The Rings books.

DarkxSoul713:

My favorite colors are evident on my page, as I tend to be a singular person. Red/Black/Silver/White is one personal favorite combination, but I've grown partial to the Black/Bone/Ice Blue combination that I used in my main header.

Hobbies: Gaming, Warhammer 40k, Magic: The Gathering (havent played in a good while), and I'm interested in getting into Airsoft.

The thing that most attracts me to a girl is her eyes, and also her ability to care for and love me. Luckily for me, I've found both in my darling Alicia, who I've been with 4 1/2 years now. Hopefully I'll be able to afford a nice ring once I start my upcoming IT job, as I have plans for the future with her!

Vacation has always been a touchy thing for me, I like going on day trips more than a complete escape, part of which I think has to do with my gaming addiction lol. I don't see the point of travel, or at least don't see visiting other countries as being a life necessity (as my gf and best friend are both adamant about). If I had to leave the country I don't know how I'd survive because I don't do other languages, and I'm a picky eater. REALLY picky eater. It all stems from being a very habitual person lol. If forced to pick somewhere, probably England or maybe Ireland.

MissMorphine:

The stupidest thing I've ever done by far was breaking up with my girlfriend for a month a couple years back. I had thought I was upset because she and I had hit a rough patch, but I was going into my second, worst yet bout of depression, which ended up escalating to the point of being suicidal. I was miserable for not having her, and I absolutely regret doing it. In the yeears afterwards things between us have become closer than ever before, so I suppose it was good in a way, but it's definitely mybiggest regret.

PrincesTwilight:

Favorite TV show: I don't watch TV much anymore as I'm usually gaming, but I think my favorite shows are The Office and South Park.

Favorite Beverage: I'm a huge soda guy, and the caffeine addiction is a good portion of that lol. I have been drinking for a few months now, (I'm 21 so its ok lol.) and I'm partial to a Mike's Hard Lemon/Limeade. Rum+Cokes are good as well, especially with Grenadine (cherry syrup), whiskey isn't bad either. Geez, I sound like an alcoholic lol.

Favorite gaming franchise: Gears Of War, but I love tons of games... I mainly stick to FPS/TPS, RTS, or RPG games, with a few beat-em-ups or fighting games thrown in.

Nicholai69:

Shoe size lol... last I checked 9 1/2.

If there are any more Q's they can be asked and I'll respond, while thinking up a new blog for tomorrow lol. Also, our pet rabbit died today, I found it this morning when I was taking garbage out while running late to tech school lol. Basically it was an interesting morning. Hopefully now we'll get a REAL pet, like a dog.

Interrogation

I've decided you guys might not know me too well, although you obviously read my blogs.

So I'm borrowing this blog idea from DarkSoul (with permission, mind you) and opening the comments up to your questions! Go ahead and ask whatever you want, and I'll do my best to answer lol.

Return of your favorite undead chevalier! (pt 2)

Now the gaming aspect of it!

I just got a new computer, and after a couple upgrades to it, I'm pretty happy. I put in a new wireless card, and got some games for it.

Warhammer 40k: Dawn Of War Platnum .

(I already owned this, but repurchased it as most of the CD keys were missing, and at least one disc was missing as well.) This contains DOW and the first two expansions, Winter Assault and Dark Crusade. Playable Races in this game are Space Marines, Chaos Space Marines, Orks, Eldar, Necron, Imperial Guard, and Tau.

Warhammer 40k: Dawn Of War Soulstorm.

. The most recent expansion to DOW, with a multi-planet, Risk-type campaign, and the addition of Dark Eldar and Sisters Of Battle to the playable races for DOW.

The Orange Box.

. I've owned this on my 360 since the day it was released, and it was definitely worth a purchase for the computer as well. I managed to get an unregistered used copy from CEX, a Gamestop-ish company from England. It only cost me $18 for all the games in TOB, and I've already put a good 27 hours into Team Fortress 2 online!

Counter-Strike: Source.

. Counter-Strike at its best, IMO. I love CS, and after playing Source I can't go back to the *ugly* old look.

Now that I'm back into PC gaming, I've got some new games to keep my eye on, like Diablo 3, Dawn of War 2, and the new Warhammer MMO, all of which I'm really looking forward to.

Also, for those of you who play on Steam, feel free to add my username

xSkeletalx .

to friends. I mostly play Team Fortress 2, but CS is also an option.

In other gaming news, my 360 has been fixed and is on the way back to me! I'm looking forward to playing some of my existing 360 games again, and looking forward to playing Castle Crashers, Tiger Woods 2009, Warhammer: Battle March (notice the trend? Lol.) and a ton of other games coming out in the next few months.

Once again, thanks for reading, leave me some comments to welcome me back :P

Return of your favorite undead chevalier! (pt 1)

Thanks to length limits, I had to break up my nice long blog into two : /

First off, the Life section!

Hello again, fans of the crazy world that is my blog! :D

As you may (yay, I'm paid attention to!) or may not (booooooo lol) have noticed, I took about a week off from Gamespot. This was actually due to having the busiest week I'/ve had in a while, with 40 hours at work and 25 at school.

The first week as supervisor was crazy. I don't think it's a very difficult job, but I (being the nervous/anxious person that I am) occasionally had difficulties, mainly caused by worrying that I did something wrong, and redoing it multiple times because of uncertainty. It's a lot more money though, and it looks good on my resume, so its cool :P

Also, I have officially been offered the IT job I wanted! They want me to start when I finish school in about a month, which is awesome because it means I get to graduate and get my diploma and so on! It will be a good start for my career, and it feels good to be offered a job before I've finished school (granted, with only a month left but w/e) and the fact that I will be working alongside a couple of my friends from the school who have already graduated is going to be awesome. One of them may even be my officemate! I will hopefully be able to stay part time as a cashier at GS, I love the job and its benefits enough to want to stick around, which says something for the company(or at least my gaming adddiction >.>).

Please take a gander at pt 2!

Facebook Leaderboard and an update

For the last few years, I've been a member of the Facebook community. For those of you

who don't know

Facebook.

is a social networking website somewhat similar to Myspace, which was originally built around keeping college students connected, but for better or worse it has expanded to the general internet. One of the applications you can add for it is the Xbox 360 Gamertag app, which I of course added as soon as I found it(big surprise, right?)! It tracks your games and achievements/points, and gives you a nice little box that shows up in your profile. It also has a Facebook Leaderboard of the gamertags of everyone on Facebook who has the application, and where they stand in terms of gamerscore compared to everyone else. It just got updated, and I received a notification from the application informing me that the leaderboard had been updated and I was in the top 3200! I know it shouldn't be as cool to me as it is, but I feel kind of proud of it. Unfortunately it's making me miss my 360 more, it will probably be another week before I get it back :(. Also in a small life update,

Dragonforce.

has a new CD calledUltra Beatdown.

out now, and I'm really excited to pick it up as I consider their music to be among my favorites. Also sadly today is the last day I'll get to spend with my girlfriend before she goes back to school.... :( Also, I just got my friend's old desktop, which is a ton more powerful than my current main computer (the laptop I'm typing on right now) and has at least 4x the hard drive space (70gig vs 250gig). It needs a new wireless card, audio cable, and new drivers (which I can get once I get the wireless card >.

Anonymity

"Some men aren't looking for anything logical. Some men just want to watch the world burn." Michael Caine, The Dark Knight

Now that online gameplay has become close to being "industry standard," the percentage of anonymous jerks that can be found online has greatly increased. Because of the anonymity offered by online play due to the lack of face to face contact, people are more likely to act in a inappropriate or offensive manner, as there is little to no real consequence. Whether this offensiveness amounts to annoying singing, mindless chatter, or the more serious racism, glitching, or "team-killing," it is something that should have more intense consequences for the offender. The Xbox360, for example, has it's own "secret police" on Xbox Live, but never once when I've been stuck in a game with someone hell-bent on ruining everyone else's experience have I been lucky enough to have one of the Xbox Police present(at least that I am aware of).

In my opinion, the most unfortunate thing about this situation is that the individual player has little control or ability to react to a game ruiner. The 360 allows you to leave feedback on a player who insists on taking this route, but unfortunately the feedback system seems (to me) to be broken. I've left negative feedback on glitchers and team killers before, only to encounter the same person later that day, or even in later weeks. Likewise, because of the anonymity offered by the feedback system (ironic, yes?) sore losers also gain "anonymity courage" and negatively affect the reputations of people who beat them, simply because they want some small sort of revenge to soothe their aching egos.

I love online gaming, don't get me wrong. I've simply grown tired of the large amount of people online who talk tons of crap (usually involving unnesecary swears, offensive comments, and racism,) for no reason, or glitch and perform other acts of negativity simply because the people they are offending are miles away from them. I can't begin to count the number of times I've heard a little kid using the "N word" in a match online, when it's obvious they wouldn't get away with using the term in public.

While these kind of problems are rampant in online action and shooter games, I've seen the same thing happen in sports games and fighters as well. Between disconnecting immediately before a loss to avoid losing, or the same offensive voice chat, it seems no corner of the gaming market is safe. I don't mind a little smack talk of the teasing variety, but racism and such offensive behavior should be more strictly punished in my opinion. It seems online gaming has ruined some of the purity of video gaming, and that is upsetting.

Duh duh duh duh duh duh DAAAAAAAAAA! (bad trumpet fanfare)

Ok so the attempt at a fanfare was kind of terrible... but I figured it was appropriate for this blog to give it it's own special entrance. Lol. This is going to be a blog about my life, so for anyone who's not really interested, feel free to turn back now :P

So this has been an interesting week for me. For those of you who are reading this, you may already be aware of my pending promotion at Gamestop. As of yesterday my promotion is no longer pending; I am now the new Senior Game Advisor (Supervisor, second only to the manager and assistant manager) in my store! I'm making $1.50 more an hour than I made two days ago, and I now have keys to allow me access anywhere in the store except the safe, and a couple other places. It will now be my responsibility to open and close the store, count the right deposit and deliver it to the bank, and perform other managerial duties. This is a little nerve wracking, as I've never held a position of such power before..... the power is nice, but I'm also responsible if something goes wrong, which kind of sucks. We'll be hiring new people soon, as we are low on standard Game Advisors, and I'll be training at least some of them. I'm also going to be low on free time now, as I'm going to be working 5 days a week. This adds up to 40 hours at Gamestop, and 25 or so at my tech school. Suddenly days off are going to be very precious! Part of me rails against the loss of free time, but I need the money, and it looks good on a resume.

In some sad news, I have a week to spend with my girlfriend before she goes back to college. :(

Alicia and I have been together for just under 4 1/2 years, since we were both in High School. I love her very much, and intend on making a fairly important purchase when I can afford it (hint hint.... part of why money is so important!). I love spending time with her, and during her school year she and I don't get to see each other as much. She goes to Boston University in Massachusetts, and I'm in Connecticut. I spent a nice summer with her, and it's going to be sad to see her go.

Also I finish up my tech school in about 6 weeks! I'm excited to finish up and get my diploma, as it will be the first school I'll have finished since graduating from high school! I'm studying computers, and with the American Economy being kind of shaky right now, "IT" (Information Technology) is a good field to be in because it is always in demand. I had an interview earlier this week for a career oriented IT job, and it seemed to go well. I think they want to hire me, but they said it would be best to finish school first. So hopefully when I finish school I'll be able to work there, especially because it will be a good starting point for my career, and I have friends working there already. Once this progresses, I'll have another blog to write for you!

And finally, the gaming aspect of my life. My 360 is being sent out for repairs, which is torture of a sort because I'm addicted to gaming, especially to my 360! So while I wait for it to be returned to me in working condition, pining for all the new games coming out (Stay tuned for my NEXT blog sometime during the weekend on new games!) I'm sticking with my DS and my PSP (as my gf has annexed my PS2!). So last night I picked up Disgaea for my PSP. I'm big into Tactical RPGs, and although this looks to be a complicated game, I'm kind of excited to play it. I also got a free strategy guide for it (ah the perks of my job :P ) so even if I'm having a little bit of trouble, I can always fall back on the guide!

Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed my blog! As I said during the weekend I'll blog about the new games I'm excited about :D

Gears By Popular Demand

Hello friends!

Well, since everyone seemed so anxious to see some Gears on my page, I've updated my Blog header. I don't see it showing the new image just yet, but you'll know it when you see it. I may make a similar one for my main page, but I'm kinda digging Skully there. So there you have it. Also, mark your calendars; Tomorrow, 8-22 sometime before 11 am Eastern US time, I will post another life blog here, with some interesting stuff. It should be a good read, so please check it out!

Edit: In case it doesn't update, here's the link to the new image.

:D

www.AwesomeWeekend.com

This summer has been full of good times, and I'm sad to see it coming to an end. This was the first summer after my girlfriend's first year up at Boston University, so I spent a lot of time with her. I also hung out with my friends from high school a lot, and thanks to them finally came out of my shell and started drinking! Nothing too much though because I have such a low tolerance level.I mainly stick to Mike's Hard Lemon/Limeade, but I've dabbled with rum, taken some whiskey shots, and tried wine which I think is disgusting. But I'm getting away from myself here.

I have tech school 5 days a week, M-F from 7:30 AM until 1 PM. I've also been working at Gamestop around 25 hours a week throughout the summer. This weekend I had to work both Saturday and Sunday mornings, but had big plans for both days after work. When I got out of work on Saturday, I met up with my high school friends and we went to the Rockstar Energy Mayhem tour at the Dodge in Hartfor. After parking (and a little of "the bubbly") we went in and started enjoying the music. Second stage was pretty good, but was mostly bands I had never heard of. Then we went over to the main stage, where we saw another band I've never heard of, Mastodon. They weren't bad, and I'll probably look into their music one of these days. After Mastodon came Dragonforce, who did an amazing job. This is the second time I've seen them, and they had a 40 minute set this time around. They only managed to get in 4 songs, because their songs are generally 8 or more minutes long. For those of you who don't know Dragonforce, they're ballad-style speed metal. They write songs about battles, dragons, and mystical swords, and as a guy who loves metal, battles, dragons, and mystical swords, they're one of my favorite bands. It was great getting to see them Live again, and I can't wait to see them again, and to get their new CD next Tuesday! Fans of Guitar Hero would have been happy with their set, because they closed out with Through The Fire And Flames!

After Dragonforce came another of my favorites, Disturbed. I LOVE DISTURBED. They write music that is heavy and badass, but it's intelligent. Their music has meaning, and sometimes discusses big topics. Dave Draiman, the singer, was wheeled out in a straightjacket, then released to immediately fly into "Perfect Insanity" which is an awesome song. Throughout their entire set Disturbed played one great song after another, tons of my favorites. I know most of the lyrics and I sang each song loud, which killed my throat due to their growling lyrics. My voice is still a bit hoarse today lol. Disturbed I feel gave the best performance of the day, and ended with Down With The Sickness.

Finally came Slipknot. This was the first time I had seen them perform, and they did not dissapoint. They played for just over an hour, and came back for an encore song as well! I have to give them credi, they played a great set, even though two of their band members are injured and need wheelchairs to move around. I hope they come back soon, because they put on a great show and I would love to see them again!

http://www.new.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2067056&l=1c10e&id=48805863

This is my Facebook photo album of pictures from the concert. I'm the one with the black hat on and glasses.

Sunday I spent at my friend's place for his 21st birthday party. Just a little get together with our friends and his family, hanging out for a few hours. I hope we get a chance to do something like that again before everyone goes back to college. Then I went over to my girlfriend's house to find out......

....she got a DOG! I love dogs, and I've always wanted one of my own. I spent a few hours with my girlfriend and the dog, and even had it running around with me in their backyard! I think it likes me, and we'll have to see when it gets bigger; it's only 6 weeks old at this point.

All in all this was a great weekend for me, and I think I really needed it with this upcoming week. I have my first week as a supervisor at Gamestop, and a job interview with a software company for a career job. So I think everything worked out, and I'm interested to see how the remaining week turns out.
