How about at 1360x768? That is fairly a low resolution & by far it is not a common resolution you will find a setting for in any games. But the upgrade will be nice over your current hardware. Your only going to see a boost in performance with your memory if you are running a 64bit OS. If you running 32bit your system will only use 3GB of the 4GB you are buying.

Not sure who told you that, but most games on the market are coded to make use of the four cores.

Your big issue is... no current console will kill the PC industry of gaming outright. The biggest reason for this is because the PC front is always leaps ahead of console based on tech right on day one. There are to many hard core PC gamers to give up the life of OC'ing & 30" LCD 100FPS gaming. its amazing that only 5% of PC users are considered core gamers. But as stated above mouse & keyboard have worked on both consoles for sometime, just as both console controllers will work with PC's. Its all a matter of preference. I think in the long run most hard core console gamers play both sides of the field, meaning both console and PC, others got into consoles as it was cheaper and easier to learn. A lot of gamers (non hardcore) believe it or not are just intimidated by the mouse & keyboard & all the options that come with a PC. All 3 system are amazing platforms but in general the PC is the most complicated of all of them. that isn't an opinion, it is fact.

A few questions What brand Graphic card are you using? model # What type of LCD? What sort of connection are you using for the screen? Is the monitor set on that type of input for the display type?

Arctic Freezer Pro 7 is an okay cooler which should keep your CPU cooler than the stock cooler. but in your case you might have ran into a common problem. First thing is you might have either put top much thermal paste on or your contact to your CPU is bad. Int his case i would do a simple re install of the cooler. Pull it off and clean off all thermal compound & than reapply a small dab that is about the size of the end of a pen. ( it will spread out and cover a good area once the cooler is in place) But from what I can remember your cooler came with thermal compound already on it. so You might have just ran into the issue of needing more compound. if that is the case leave the setup as is and buy some articsilver 7 or something like that and than reinstall. I honestly just did a guide on this & if you would like to see it let me know.

If I was you I would go with a current Gen CPU and spend the extra money. That way you should future proof yourself. An i7 CPU isn't much more cash & a okay motherboard will go a long way. Yes you will need some DDR3 memory but memory is so cheap these days it is a small issue. If you truly want to OC than don't sell yourself short. Buy components that will last under the loads you might put on the system and be happy moving forward instead of always looking for the next upgrade. Noctua offers some sweet options. I personally run the Noctua NH-U12P SE2 on my i7 920 and have it running a spiffy 4.0GHz with temps at 39C idle
