No multiplayer and I can't imagine there ever will be for AC. The game is designed around a single player experience with so many NPCs on the screen that it would be nigh impossible for split-screen or online play.
Europe is a completely different market as SCEE's focus reflects. The good news is that Sony's focus is so large internationally that most if not all the benefits of being a European PS3 owner (PVR, extended Remote Play for PSP, etc.) will become available in the US.
You have to keep in mind that Skate is a completely different approach to skateboarding than Tony Hawk. That being said, I love the Tony Hawk games and am loving the Skate demo. This is EA's prime opportunity as Neversoft has hit a creative lull with the TH series.
I love Unreal for its continued Mod support, although I have to say I loved Quake 1 and 2 when they first came out. Quake Wars is going to be amazing though.
