My advice is to try Onlive. Don't even bother fixing the ps3 at this point. Onlive is free and the demos are free. The only thing you have to pay for is the games. And you need a reliable internet connection and an xbox 360 controller to play with a controller on the service.

You might be skeptical about Onlive but it only takes five minutes to try it out and all you need is an email to sign up for it. No credit card required.

Um why are you suggesting that on the PS3 forums?.. It doesn't even play PS3 games for a start. An tbh Onlive is the last thing I'd seek out if I wanted to completely change my gaming platform.

Its cheapest and easiest way to get back into playing todays games when you don't have a console but you have computer with internet access. Also, you don't have to worry about Onlive getting YLOD or RROD or any of that BS. It doesn't play all ps3 games but it does play some.

Onlive plays Assassins Creed 2, NBA 2k10, NBA2k11, Borderlands, UT3, Trine, Batman Ark Aslym, Fear 2, and other games.

Um why are you suggesting that someone should have to pay more money to fix their ps3 than try to convince them not to try Onlive when it is completely free and the games are reasonably priced?

This person's particular problem is not necessiarly limited to just the ps3 but is more pointed towards access to playing video games.

My ps3 died on me about year ago this time frame but now that I know Onlive works great. I will probably never bother to get it fixed unless I can get it fixed for like 20 bucks. It would be stupid to fix the ps3 by sending it into Sony for $150 dollars or buying/borrowing supplies to fix it myself when I can just get on the internet and play onlive.

It is too blurry and low rez and low frame rate. Anyone who thinks this is even close to modern Console graphics is in need of some new glasses.

Videodogg

When you factor in not even having to buy a console its a steal. Based on what I've played of it, it looks pretty good.

Now how long do you own the games you buy?Iantheone

you own the games for however long the service provides the games although I have read that the typical life span of a game is 3 years so that should be plenty.

All that sounds do-able for me except the free weight bench press. I've hardly done it and never do it, simply because of the the danger you mentioned. I have no one to spot me (no one I know works out at my gym). So I always look for substitute exercises if I can.

Bench press is too important to pass up. It works the the chest, triceps, and shoulders. The bench press may even work more than that.

I don't have anyone spot me on the bench press and the key is to not do too much weight. Go with the weight that works for you. Odds are don't expect 300 or 250 pounds. Maybe not even 200 pounds. Maybe start with like 130 or 140 or less. You have to work your way up with the bench press.

Odds are if you can bench somthing 5 times, its usually a pretty safe weight to use because even if you can't push the weight back up you can let the weight come down to your chest and just keep pushing the weight down to your theighs/knees and then get out from under the bar. This has happened to me a few times but I never used to much weight to the point that I was not able to do this as I have always been able to pack on muscle with the 5 sets of 5 for the bench press even though my gains are quite slow.

I guess that's a good point, but I still wouldn't feel safe doing it without a spotter anyway. I honestly believe it shouldn't be necessary if I do good substitute exercises for those same areas.

You could do substitute exercises I guess but I don't know anything about that as I think that would take more time and it would probably build less muscle in the chest area.

If you do squats or deadlift or military press - Those are all just as dangerous as the bench press and even if you did have someone there watching you there is no guarantee that they would be able to help you out that quickly to avoid injury. There is risk with just about any exercise in the weight room so safety is the most important thing.

EDIT - just wondering, but what's the point of having hands switched in opposite directions when doing the deadlift?

SilverIce7

The hands in opposite directions works well with the deadlift as it makes it easier to lift the heavier weight by providing more stability and control when lifting such heavy things. It seems odd but I wouldn't bet against it.

Some people do max bench press but I never do that since I don't have a spotter and because I can use a bench press calculator to give me a pretty acurate assessment as to what my max would be based on what I can bench 5 times. Often if you can bench press something 5 times just add 20 pounds to that number and that is your 1 max bench press. Just search for bench press calculator if you want to know more.

Do exercises with more compound movements. Do Squats, Deadlifts, Bench Press. You can do power clean if you want but I tend to stay away from exercises that are too dangerous. For all lifting exercises lift only 4-6 times and do that for 3 sets. Once you reach the point where you can work the weight for 6 times for 3 sets add another 2 1/2, 5, or 10 pounds as needed. Almost forgot, the only other exercise that I don't do 4-6 times for 3 sets is the bench press. Do 5 sets of 5 for that. The bench press the exercise that I spend the most time working out as I find it the most important. Workout 3 days max a week. I only work out 2 times a week.

For Arms, do bicep curls and close grip bench press(works triceps)

For shoulders, do militarly press and work the sides of your shoulders. To work the sides of your shoulders lift your arms up to the sides using one barbel at a time while using the other hand to hold on to something as this often times allows me to get more out of it.

You mentioned having a gut. I have heard that running as fast as you can or sprinting tends to kill fat the quickest. So run really fast for a min then walk for two minutes to build stamina back up then sprint again and do this for about 10 to 20 min till you feel you have worked out enough.

Or

You could avoid running completely by eating the right foods. Avoid eating trans fat and only eat about 20 saturated fat or less a day. Eat whole grain breads and pasta. Also, eat meaty foods such as ribs, chicken, and steak.

Another thing that I have heard that burns fat and adds muscle really well is jumping rope.

I am looking for a ps2 light gun and some games for it. Also, I would prefer to buy from a store.
