Post E3 2016 Most Anticipated Games

Okay, I am still a Wii U and PC guy only. I have a underpowered PC, so I am not deep into that scene. Wii U is barely holding it together, so this is going to be an ugly Top Ten List.

10. Mighty Number 9 (WiiU) - Scraping the bottom of the barrel, a potentially fun Megamanish game everyone knows of that will likely make release.

9. Mario & Sonic at the Rio Olympic Games (WiiU) - These games always look fun to me, still haven't bought one yet.

8. LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens (WiiU) - Yes, lego games have been done through the nose, yes I am scraping the bottom of the barrel, still - this game will probably be pretty darn good.

7. Shantae Half-Genie Hero (WiiU) - I actually own a Shantae game now, I need to play it, I hear they are pretty good, perhaps this will be another good one.

6. ToA Exile (PC) - The reason I bought another computer. Well, that and I like to play Elders Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Survival game coming someday... maybe.

5. Stardew Valley (WiiU) - Natsume kind of swept that announcement of Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories for the Wii U under the rug, and is now working on a 3DS Harvest Moon game. No matter, from my understanding Stardew Valley is a much better take on the genre than Seeds of Memories. We traded up

4. Paper Mario: Color Splash (WiiU) - This game isn't getting people excited. I don't care, looks good to me.

3. Yooka Laylee (WiiU) - Yooka Laylee is probably going to go down as one of the best 3rd party games on the Wii U. This game looks incredible, and funny, and classic Rarelike, and I'm looking forward to it as a Kickstarter backer.

2. Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE (WiiU) - A Japanese Pop idol inspired JRPG. It looks good. It looks weird. Switch that, weird first then good. Atlus I think is going to make it an enjoyable adventure. Oh, and Shin Megami and Fire Emblem elements are implemented somehow.

1. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Many are not excited about this particular version because it is coming out on the NX as well. Everyone is excited about the game though. It is going to be great! Perhaps the best Zelda since Ocarina, we will see.

Most Anticipated Games Post E3 2015

Still saving for a new PC as my old one puttered out. As a result I haven't been paying attention to PC games and I still don't have a 3DS so this is a list of 9 Wii U games and one PC game I have been following forever. Like everyone else I was disappointed Nintendo didn't show new Wii U games that could be described as killer apps. 2016 doesn't bode well for Wii U unless Nintendo makes a big push later in the year, the only games they seem to be pushing is the Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei crossover, and in talk they did answer questions on Zelda. Anyway, on to the list!

10. Rodea: The Sky Soldier (WiiU - Kadokawa Games/Prope) - This is an interesting looking action game that has moved from the Wii to the Wii U, though you will get both versions when you buy it for the Wii U. The main character flies and is controlled by the touch screen on the game pad.

9. Project Guard (WiiU - Nintendo) - Project Guard is a game that shows off the game pad and was shown off at E3 2014. The game was mentioned as still being in the works in an interview last week at E3 2015. This game uses the game pad to control cameras to shoot down robots while the tv screen has a bunch of little pictures of the cameras. You have to use the cameras to defend a strategic point. Looks like fun, moved back a few spots as there was no new info.

8. Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash (WiiU - Nintendo) - A beautiful looking Mario Tennis game coming out holiday 2015. Mario Tennis games are always a lot of fun, though I am bummed there is no motion controls with the Wii remote.

7. Genei Ibun Roku #FE (WiiU - Atlus/Nintendo) - This game has appeared on some of my lists before with a different title. I am hoping they seriously localize this title because I have no idea what it means right now. Anyway, this looks to be a very culturally Japanese RPG being developed by one of the great JRPG developers in Atlus. There are elements of the Fire Emblem and Shin Megami series in the game, but they aren't necessary, it is more about j-pop singers and beings that take the form of characters from those series. This game would be fine without those big name series, but wouldn't have gotten as much attention I suppose.

6. ToA Exile (PC - Forged Chaos) - The last great MMORPG hope I have been following called Trials of Ascension crashed and burned in their crowdfunding efforts unfortunately. They are working on a new effort to turn their work into a smaller rpg world. People will be able to take Trials of Ascension elements and create their own multiplayer world, which won't be massive but is potential fun. Down the line they hope to still create an MMO. www.trialsofascension.com

5. Yoshi's Woolly World (WiiU - Nintendo) - 2D Platformer in the Yoshi series coming out in October. The graphics and art style look incredible, hoping for a great game!

4. Star Fox Zero (WiiU - Nintendo) - Star Fox is finally back! The graphics look great, the gameplay looks great, the game looks great! It reminds me of Star Fox 64, one of my favorite games of that era. This is the year of the Fox!

3. Super Mario Maker (WiiU - Nintendo) - Let's face it. I spent time imagining what it would be like to create my own platformer when I was a kid, and I still love playing Mario. This has childhood dreams written all over it. Fantastic looking game!

2. Xenoblade Chronicles X (WiiU - Monolithsoft) - Massive single player JRPG. The scale and amount of content rival some of the big MMORPGs out there. Futuristic, Mechs, and successor to a great game on the Wii/New 3DS.

1. The Legend of Zelda Wii U (WiiU - Nintendo) - Not shown at E3. No matter, this game has too much potential to overlook.

Most Anticipated Games Post E3 2014

I like writing these and then looking back at them years later to see all the E3 reveals. This year my computer has finally died, so there are almost no PC games on the list... except for one that I am waiting for the right time to save and get a new gaming PC for, plus all my steam games. My old PC couldn't handle Skyrim, so that will be fun when I get a chance to play it. For now mostly Wii U games. I also posted my beginning of the year Most anticipated list as a stack, and I will turn this one into a stack as well.

10. Star Fox U (WiiU - Nintendo) - Star Fox 64 was one of my funnest gaming memories. Only a small amount of details on this game announcement, but they want it done in one year! A lot on the horizon for Nintendo in 2015.

9. Earthlock: Festival of Magic (WiiU - Snowcastle Games) - An indie game that was kickstarted to funding, it is also scheduled for release on the PC, PS4, XBOX One, and iOS. This RPG looks very interesting, you actually have your own personal farm where you grow ammunition. I like it as a mix of Adventurous RPGs I have always enjoyed with a little of my Harvest Moon fun.

8. Yoshi's Woolly World (WiiU - Nintendo) - Yoshi's yarn filled world looks beautiful and fun. Yoshi hasn't always been my favorite series, but the game definitely looks interesting.

7. Project Guard (WiiU - Nintendo) - One of Shigeru Miyamota's pet projects that has you strategically placing camera's/robot defense units to guard a base against enemy robots. All the camera screens are displayed on the TV, and you have to use the gamepad to switch between them as well as aim and shoot the enemy. Looks innovative.

6. Watch Dogs (WiiU - Ubisoft) - Major open world hacking game that has already released on all other platforms. Here's hoping Ubisoft finishes the game.

5. Xenoblade Chronicles X (WiiU - Monolithsoft) - Next game in the Xenoblade series that was beloved on the Wii. The demos and the game look great, and I am fond of an occasional RPG - moved up from 6th last year.

4. Super Smash Bros for Wii U (WiiU - Nintendo w/Bandai Namco) - The biggest game of the 2014 holiday season for Nintendo's lineup. It will release with Amiibo, interactive statuettes. This didn't budge from 4th on the list because of the increase in info for some very exciting projects.

3. Hyrule Warriors (WiiU - Tecmo Koei w/Nintendo) - At heart this is a warriors game, but on the surface it is full on Zelda. All the characters are Zelda, and this looks like a beautifully crafted Zelda mashup. You know Zelda is my favorite right?

2. Trials of Ascension (PC - Forged Chaos) - I've been following this game for more than a decade now. This will be an mmorpg that might actually be able to get me interested again. Who am I kidding, I am hyped for it. http://www.trialsofascension.com

1. The Legend of Zelda U (WiiU - Nintendo) - Simply looks beautiful. Think 9 to 1 is a bit extreme? Hey, we're talking about Zelda! The big open world reminds me of Skyrim, but this is definitely Zelda. How long til 2015?

Post E3 2013 Top Ten Most Anticipated Games

Here are my top ten anticipated games after E3, I only own a Wii U and and outdated PC which I will be hoping to upgrade in the next year, so the games I am looking at focus aroung that.

10. Trials of Ascension (PC) - Forged Chaos - This is a MMORPG in pre-alpha that I have been following for a few years.  The developers, Forged Chaos (previously Shadowpool Studios), were unable to find investors back in the mid 2000s, but have returned to drum up interest for a future kickstarter.  This game will have perma-death after 100 lives, a dynamic world, and many great features you can check out at http://www.trialsofascension.com

 9. The Legend of Zelda Wii U (WiiU) - Nintendo - Zelda is my favorite series, I enjoy all the games I've played including a recent purchase and playthrough of Skyward Sword since I got my Wii U.  Looking forward to this game, but there is no info about it yet.

 8. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (WiiU) - Nintend/Retro - Donkey Kong Country for the SNES is one of my favorite games for that console.  In my heyday I could beat the game without losing a life.  I haven't played DKC Returns yet and I am not sure how I will like it in polygon form but Retro is a good studio and it should be good.

 7. Watch Dogs (WiiU) - Ubisoft - This game looks really cool.  You can explore Chicago and hack any tech you want with your smart phone.  The Wii U needs an open world game of this caliber and I hope it does well.

 6. X (WiiU) - Monolithsoft - This game looks fun.  The studio has experience with Xenoblade on the Wii, and X will probably be my style of game.

 5. Pikmin 3 (WiiU) - Nintendo - We've been waiting for this game.  It got knocked down on my list because nintendo unveiled footage on some heavyweight franchises, but Pikmin 3 has the attention of Shigeru Miyamoto and should be great.  Could be my first Pikmin

 4. Super Smash Bros. Wii U (WiiU) - Nintendo - Okay, Mega Man is cool and all, though they take a hit imo if Sonic doesn't return, but honestly I am more interested in the Villager from Animal Crossing and the Wii Fit Trainer.  I know it sounds like a joke, but I love it when Nintendo looks into their vast catalog of games and includes obscure characters like this.  I hope they add more.  I am pretty sure I saw Balloon Fighter in the trailer, so hopefully he's playable.

 3. Super Mario 3D World (WiiU) - Nintendo - This game looks great.  The Super Mario Galaxy and Galaxy 2 team are back and there isn't a lot to say other than they make great 3D Mario games.  I loved the first Galaxy and haven't yet played the second.  I thought this would be higher on my list, but then...

 2. Mario Kart 8 (WiiU) - Nintendo - I'll admit I sold my Wii before I finished Mario Kart Wii, and I didn't love the motion controls, but if you can fall in love with the game on first sight, that was my trailer experience for Mario Kart 8.  I didn't know if I could stand anything but the Kart racing but with how Mario Kart looks, graphically and the way it seems to play, I want it I want it I want it.

1. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD (WiiU) - Nintendo - Wind Waker holds the top spot on my list despite the reveal of some great looking Nintendo games.  Wind Waker is one of my favorite video games, and new footage with polished graphics and a renewed feel for a great game that I have been wanting to get my hand on again puts it at my top spot.

Early 2013 Top Ten Most anticipated Games

I don't buy as many games as I use to now that I have a family but I still watch and anticipate games, and even buy a few here and there.  This is my first update of anticipated games in almost 5 years, it was about time.  Since I only have a Wii U and an outdated Computer, (and a DS) the games will mostly be from Wii U.

 10.  The Legend of Zelda Wii U (WiiU - Nintendo) - This is my favorite series, so as long as I know it is coming it will be on this list.  Since it is a far ways off with nothing real announced about it, other than the developer's desire to take a lot more from the first zelda game, it is last on the list.

 9. Super Mario Wii U (WiiU - Nintendo) - I had a great time with Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii before I sold my Wii.  The same studio is working on this next 3D mario game so I am looking foward to it.  Allthough Zelda is my favorite series, this edges out my anticipation of the next original Zelda game on the Wii U because Mario is supposed to be playable at E3.  We will find out a lot about a game not too far on the horizon.

 8. The Wonderful 101 (WiiU - Platinum Games/Nintendo) - Although I've watched gameplay video on this one, I don't know what to expect as far as whether I will actually enjoy it or not.  It looks interesting, and I look foward to the reviews to see if I want it.  It'll be out this year.

 7. Yoshi's Land (WiiU - Nintendo) - Yoshi games don't generally get me excited, but they are often pretty good.  I think this game will probably not rile up the fan base, but give us an enjoyable game.

 6. Oliver & Spike: Dimension Jumpers (WiiU/PC - Rock Pocket Games) - This game isn't listed for the Wii U on Gamespot yet, but Wii U is listed as a target platform on the game's website.  Although there is a lot of platform gameplay involve, the videos also give it a Zelda-esque look, and the gameplay mechanic of jumping between dimensions to further progress looks like a lot of fun.  It's different, and maybe right up my alley.

 5. Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem (WiiU - Atlus/Nintendo) - From what I hear Shin Megami Tensei is a very good series.  Fire Emblem has a good track record too.  I haven't played either but maybe trying them out all at once on the Wii U could be fun.  Plus I am a fan of RPGs.

 4. Rayman Legends (WiiU - Ubisoft) - This was the first game for Wii U that I demoed at the local Gamestop.  it was fun, and it's coming out this month.

 3. Wii Fit U (WiiU - Nintendo) - Yeah, I know that it may be a little lame to have a fitness game as my number 3 game, but this will be one I can enjoy with my wife, and other than the far off Zelda game, the one I am most likely to pick up.

 2. Pikmin 3 (WiiU - Nintendo) - I missed out on the Pikmin games for gamecube, maybe I thought they were too kiddy.  Anyway, This could be my first if I ever get it and it looks pretty good.

 1. The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD (WiiU - Nintendo) - This epic game is one of my favorites of all time.  Updated for a next gen system it should be a great play through.  Too bad the top spot is a remake, but it is a great one.

Post E3 2008 Top Ten Most Anticipated Games

My Third Post E3 Top Ten report. Let me first state that easily the game I was most excited about waching E3 was actually Fable II, but as of now I do not own an XBOX 360, so it did not make the list. It may tempt me into buying a 360, but time will tell. This list for me really just covers my systems for now, Wii, DS, and PC.

10. Little King's Story (Wii) - I previously had This is Vegas at this spot, but then Gamespot showed a little coverage from this game at E3 I hadn't yet seen, and Nintendo Power ran a good article. This game seems a little more up my alley. A simulation about a king who can tell people what to do. Build a nation and war against other kingdoms. Sit on your throne and worry about the little things in your kingdom. send peasants to their death. All from the creators of Harvest Moon. Should be fun.

9. The Legend of Zelda: ??? (Wii) - 9th place last year as well. Still not even a snippet of info on this game, though it is my favorite game series.

8. Harvest Moon: Isle of Happiness (DS) - The storyline for this game looks better than the Wii version, I will probably get both, eventually.

7. Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility (Wii) - This moves up from 8 last year, mostly because of the weaker class this year. I am a fan of Harvest Moon and will probably be playing this game.

6. The Sims 3 (PC) - Show me a little something and I'll give you a little love. Maxis released a little info on this game this year and I moved it from 10 to 6, jumping it past Harvest Moon and Zelda.

5. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (Wii) - This game looks great for the 360 and PS3. Will it translate to a good game for the Wii as well? I hope so because I would love to play it.

4. Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World (Wii) - When I heard about this game last year, I grabbed my copy of its gamecube predecessor and tore through it. The first was a classic and this should be good.

3. Rune Factory 2 (DS) - I am definitely a fan of the Harvest Moon series. Rune Factory was an excellent change for that series last year, and 2 looks better. I got too eager last year and moved Rune Factory up to two, but with this year's class it deserves 3.

2. Wii Sports Resort (Wii) - Not my favorite Nintendo series ever, but I still regularly enjoy Wii Sports. The Wii Motion Plus looks cool, and as Nintendo didn't show a lot this year, this game gets a high ranking.

1. Spore (PC) - Moves to the top spot, up from 7th last year, I own 1 through 6. Still I prefer Fable II but this is what I most look forward to from my systems.

Post E3 2007 Top Ten Most Anticipated Games

I posted a similar blog last year, so I will come back and write another, kind of like a comparison.

10. The Sims 3 (PC)- Same thing as Zelda, what's the deal with this game?

9. The Legend of Zelda??? (Wii)- This game has been talked about as being in development, though nothing is known about it so far. As a result, this is only at 9.

8. Harvest Moon Wii (Wii)- I have been able to obtain some info about this game from fansites, I like simulations, Harvest Moon is one of my favorites.

7. Spore (PC)- Spore was at this same slot on my list after last years E3, nothing has happened to move it up the list, so it remains.

6. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trials and Tribulations (DS)- The latest Phoenix Wright game actually was 6th on my list last year, I'm ready for more Wright.

5. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii)- This is shaping up to be a great game and its coming out in December

4. The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (DS)- Zelda, still the best series of all time, this game will be good.

3. Mario Kart Wii (Wii)- This game definitely looks god. Mario Kart is one of the most fun video game series of all time, especially with mutiplayer.

2. Rune Factory (DS)- Teaming one of my favorite series Harvest Moon(a farming sim) withdungeons and monsters and fighting sounds fun. Still this only jumps as high as 2 because it comes out next month, woot!

1. Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)- This game looked cool enough to make it to third on my list last year, and with more revealed this year this has jumped to the top. Mario looks hella promising for the Wii.

New Feature

I posted a new feature at onnintendo.com this morning you should check it out. It's a brief look at the history of Resident Evil from a nintendo fan's point of view.
