Sporkguy3 Blog

www.onnintendo.com

Hey, this is for anyone who stumbles upon this Blog, check out www.onnintendo.com.  I've just been made a blogger there, its a pretty cool fansite for nintendo, and there are some good flash game contests there.  The current contest is for a Nintendo DS Lite.

Top Five Games That I Can't Get

After the E3 hype there is a few games that caught my eye for XBOX 360 and PS3, which I probly won't be getting.  Here they are.

5. Metal Gear Solid 4(PS3)-I am not really a fan of the Metal Gear series, but the trailer for it looks pretty darn cool.

4. Halo 3(360)- I'm not a big fan of FPS games, but I will admit the Halo games have awesome multiplayer.

3. Final Fantasy XIII(PS3)- Final Fantasy games are usually great.

2. Too Human(360)- I don't know much about this game except that Silicon Knights is a very good developer, and this game has been in development forever without giving up.

1. Fable 2(360)- Man, I am almost tempted to buy an XBOX 360 just for this one game, I loved the first Fable.  What the heck Lionhead, why did you have to get bought out by Microsoft?  Maybe this will still come out for PC someday.

Post E3 Top Ten Most Anticipated Games

I am basically a Nintendo/ PC kinda Guy so it will be only from those systems I am picking my favorite games, however I was really very impressed by the XBOX 360 during this e3 and I am considering whether I want to spend the money to add it to my video game library. Anyway, lets get to my new most anticipated games post E3 2006, let me note I left the New Super Mario Brothers off this list because it comes out in a few short days. Also, I predict a lot of Wii games will be on this list.

10. Diddy Kong Racing DS(DS)- I loved the original DKR, and if this game is online, I will love it even more than Mario Kart DS.

9. Disaster: Day of Crisis(Wii)- This game looks really awesome, too bad we don't know much about it.

8. Project H.A.M.M.E.R.(Wii)- A cyborg with a big friggin hammer that you swing with the Wiimote to fight the onslaught of robots taking over earth, what more could you possibly want in a game!

7. Spore(PC)- I wasn't too hyped about this game until I saw the video here on Gamespot, it looks great, another Sim success from Will Wright.

6. Pheonix Wright Ace Attorney: Justice for All(DS)- I loved the first Pheonix Wright game, I got so into the stories and ate it all up, can't wait to get right back into it with the sequel.

5. The Legend of Zelda: The Phantom Hour Glass(DS)-Zelda is by far my favorite video game series, I loved Wind Waker, which this seems to be a sequel too, and I think this game looks great.

4. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past(Wii's Virtual Console)- From many accounts this is one of the best games ever and one of the best Zeldas. Back in my SNES days I wasn't a Zelda fan yet, so my first play through of this game will be on the virtual console, and I look forward to it.

3. Super Mario Galaxy(Wii)- Graphics look amazing, and the gameplay looks innovative, I gotta love Mario.

2. Red Steel(Wii)- Ok, this game is why MP3 isn't on my list. This is a brand new FPS series, on a new console that enables an awesome new FPS experience. It all spells blockbuster.

1. The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess(Wii)- What can I say, this looks to be the best game of the year... easy.

Top Five Games

This was a tough one, but I decided to narrow down and choose my five favorite games of all time.

5. Super Mario World (SNES)
Only a few games in my life have really wowed me graphically when it came out than this one, probably only Mario 64, anf Zelda Ocarina of Time.  Add the fact that this, in my opinion, has the most fun gameplay of all the marios and it makes it into my top five.

4. Street Fighter II: The World Warrior (SNES/Arcade/Genesis)
This game was my first video game obsession.  I've never been addicted to a tournemany fighter since, though Virtual fighter in the Arcades always beckoned me, and Tekken was fun, but I never had a playstation.

3. Goldeneye 007 (N64)
I spent so many hours playing this in multiplayer mode.  Man, I was unstoppable in Liscense to Kill, and nearly unbeatable with guns.  You needed Explosions to stop me, my one weakness, though I could hold my own with them.  Our favorite mode was Liscense to Kill in the Complex with proximity mines, first to 20 points.  I could win against seasoned goldeneye players without ever using a mine.

2. Super Mario Bros. (NES)
Classic game, that drew me into gaming.  There was ALMOST no other game that could ever upstage this work of art in my eyes.

1. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)
This was the game.  So much magic, so much whimsy, beautiful music, the graphics were jaw dropping at the time... if this game was first released now, with the N64 graphics, the gameplay would still sell the game like hotcakes.  It will be hard to ever surpass.  IMO Wind Waker was a great effort.

Other Notables: The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, Super Mario Bros 3, Final Fantasy VI or III whatever, Harvest Moon, and Harvest Moon 64

Honest Reviews?

How honest are the reviews at gamespot really? There's some bad games out there really, but doesn't it seem when a game's bad the gamespot reviewers go overboard with the low ratings. Take this 50 cent game that came out for PSP. It probably sucks bigtime I know, and personally I don't care the guy too much, all he ever talks about is his magic stick and wants you to lick his lollipop and all that stuff--it's disgusting. Anyway I checked the screenshots and the graphics deserved better than a 5, I mean c'mon. If you hate the game that much screw it in the tilt, give it a 0 tilt. But the graphics probably deserved better. This isn't the first time I've noticed this. Let's compare DS games. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, and Sprung. Same style of drawn cartoonish/anime graphics, as they're both text driven. Phoenix Wright had better ideals, a better story, more advance features leading to a much better game with an overall 8.8 score. In Sprung you try to hook up with girls or boys, depending on which gender you are, kinda fun at first, but isn't near as good. However in my opinion Sprung's drawings were much more colorful and smoothly drawn with backgrounds drawn almost as well as the characters themselves. In Phoenix Wright the drawings are nice but not as smooth and bad backgrounds. Phonix Wright recieves a 9 in graphics, while Sprung recieves a 6, go figure.

Well signing off for now, Gameplay is most important cause it affects tilt and we all know it, but don't screw over the graphics, cmon.
