Starfield development started 7 years ago, but was delayed due to Covid. The 25 years refers to this being the first game NOT taking place in the Elder Scrolls universe.

I mean there's also Fallout games....but yeah sure

@HalcyonScarlet: My point is all of that shit is crap and they know it, and they will just flip the script to feed their narrative. Like Kvally is doing now trying to prove the 360 sold over 100 million units, which if it DID WE WOULD HAVE A SOURCE FROM MS themselves about it since you know that would be kinda a big deal.

And for fucks sake, there's already Rumors Wolverine could make a 2024 release, I don't think we exactly know what's going to be released in 2024 yet.

Poor Starflop. 25 years in the making and not even considered for GOTY. Hyped to the moon only to crash and burn 🤭

If Starfield really was 25 years in the making, it's close to Duke Nukem Forever levels of hilarity

I can't think of a single game starfield could replace on current list.

Judging by meta or any other metric, there are games still ahead of starfield that are not on that list.

I agree. The flip side of this argument is what game needs to be taken off the list that Starfield should replace...

And there isn't one. Starfield can't justify itself in taking a spot

@ghostofgolden: I agree with Ori could have been mentioned the year it released...maybe

And I do like Sunset Overdrive....but I don't think it's really a GOTY contender. That's probably more of a personal taste decision for sure.

But come on, this was a SPECTACULAR year for video games. Games I would put ahead of Starfield that didn't get nominated would be Hogwarts Legacy, Dead Space Remake, Armored Core 6, FF16, & Jedi Survivor.

The competition was very strong this year.....and I'm sorry an Average at Best Bethesda Game isn't going to make the field for a GOTY THIS YEAR. If Starfield could have been delayed another year, polished up some bugs and you know actually had some depth to the story and world then maybe it could have been a contender in 2024.

But Starfield isn't a GOTY game. It's ok to like Starfield and enjoy playing it. Hey I like Bethesda jank myself from time to time, and I enjoy the charm Bethesda games can have BUT

It's getting very noticeable how dated, clunky, and un-inspired the Bethesda formula is getting. Especially when the industry is moving forward in technology and story telling. I mean come on? Really? Load screens every time you enter a building? No Space to planet travel? Peer Games can have been doing this for years. Why can't Bethesda figure this out?

Bethesda isn't getting any free passes from Gamers anymore, and if Bethesda is serious about making better games, not that their game are bad mind you, they need to take a long hard look at Starfields' criticisms, take them seriously and go make a better game that can rival what peer studios are making in THIS decade.

If I was a lemming, I would be super embarrassed that Starfield wasn’t even considered as. GOTY contender. Especially after hyping it as the second coming of Christ for the last 7 years . 🥺

And there's other Games that came out this year that aren't nominated that STILL would be put in over Starfield

Jedi Survivor, Armored Core 6, Dead Space Remake, FF16

This was really a fantastic year in gaming. Like holy crap this has been un-real. So many great single player, non live service games is refreshing to see.

Greatest Thread of All time has to be the Twilight Princess 8.8 Review Thread.

It was insane, so much fanboying and tear posts. Also lead to many suicide Threads.

There can't be any other, but not sure how many people here still remember that.

@kvallyx: Ever think that's why this forum is dying? Because listening to the same "Sony Jive ain't got no games soon!" get's a little old? And drives people away?

Can't we be better than acting like children?
