Reddit is starting to turn mixed on Starfield.....A lot of early access players are starting to notice the cracks in the game and are vocal about it.

At this point the game's best defense is "It's bethesda in space" which is fine for some, but you can't rely on the same style game for more than a decade. I really think people were expecting a new generation of "bethesda" games with Starfield. But it's just more of the same, but worse. The seamless livable world of Fallout and TES is not in Starfield with all the fast travel, loading screens, and non-scheduled NPCs

@DragonfireXZ95: It's not just BG3, it's Zelda BOTW, TOTK, Cyberpunk, Spiderman, and other modern open world games that make Starfield feel really dated. BOTW set the standard for Go where ever you want, do whatever you want for open world games. Elite Dangerous and No man's sky set standards for space travel.

Starfield doesn't set any standards like people thought it would. It's just a Bethesda game in space. Which is fine for some, but not all

I guess it wasn't just IGN, PC Gamer, and GS.

What do all of you think about this?

I think people on the fence about Starfield need to watch this. This guy goes into very good detail about what the game does well, and what it doesn't.

From the Video:

  • Planet exploration is barren, procedurally generating from ship landing point. Player will hit invisible walls. Can't fly in ship on a planet (Like No Man's Sky Can)
  • Points of interest are recycled, this guy ran into the same base with same enemies 5 different times in 20 hours of play, and that is just one instance for that particular base, a generated planet base even appeared in the MAIN story. So content is being recycled
  • First 20-30 hours is bug free almost, but side quests are broken and bugs appear frequently after 30 hours of play. So Bethesda prioritized polish in the first 20 or so hours of play.
  • Main Story is lack luster. He describes whole game as shallow, mile wide inch deep
  • Other Games Like No Man's Sky, Star Citizen, Elite Dangerous do certain things MUCH better than Starfield.
  • Game feels dated

This isn't a game I would have paid extra money for to play early.

@kvallyx: Ummmm why? Flopfield is a 7 out of 10...I'm not going to drop $500 for an Xbox to play that.

Once I'm done with Armored Core 6 I might sub to game pass for a month to try Starfield.

You lems with changing the narrative is ridiculous. "Game pass is so great, so cheap per month with so many games! And so many devices to play on!"

"No Star67 you can't play in a browser! That negates my argument that you're only mad because you can't play it on a PC/Xbox! Stop it! Stop using game pass against me! You should be mad you can't play it on ps5!!!!"

I'm not mad Kvally. If I want to play it I'll play in a browser. That's what Xbox is now. Browser games. MMMM the salt

Between those 2 it's FlopField

But please put more in the poll. For those that remember Twilight princess is the biggest flop in GS history. The amount of suicide posts was utter craziness. To this day the sheep population has never been the same, heck after that they were just about wiped out.

@theam0g: literally anyone with a web browser can play the game with Xbox game pass. The "you're only mad because you can't play it" excuse is gone with Xbox published games

I kind of new this would happen. There's just been so many games that have surpassed Bethesda over the past decade in terms of combat, writing, RPG elements and even exploration.

It'll probably be a good time though, but people really shouldn't have been hyping this up so much. I still don't know why Microsoft bought Zenmax honestly.

I don't think 7 is a BAD score, just like I'm sure Starfield isn't a bad game BUT

Bethesda has been making the same style game since Oblivion. It's quirky and charming but if you aren't super into it, and don't have nostalgia for Oblivion/Skyrim/Fallout 3 then I can see why Bethesda games can turn people off/away. They are janky, and empty at times, and behind modern games in dialogue, story, and gameplay. Bethesda games are a product of their time which isn't a bad thing, but I can see them failing to lure modern audiences.

Damn.....I was not expecting that, definitely not in a hurry to place this.

I think MS needs to take a long hard look at how they handle making games with their studios. Something is not clicking and it's time for change

I mean why buy an Xbox when I can subscribe to gamepass for a month and just stream it in a browser? Which is exactly what Im going to do. MY PC is old as shit, so I can't run it natively, but Im not spending hundreds of dollars on one game

There is nothing wrong with that idea. That's my point - MS has made that an option for you, but cows want to say people like you do not exist.

True, but I'm only going to do that if the game is good. If it launches a buggy mess I'll wait for some patches. Hopefully the cloud Beta will work well to play this.

Really the only negative to this is missing out on the $70 game sales when the game releases.
