A good game is a good game no matter when you play it. I recommend going back to it (though I couldn't put it down in the first place until I was done) or trying it if you've never played it before.

The gameplay just feels so good.. the character movement and the offensive and defensive movements, and the enemies and bosses you face, the environment topography and hazards, thoughtful design... It makes me excited for their next game.

For real this! The gameplay is solid AF, anyone that complains about AAA movie games should give Returnal a try. Housmarque has some arcadey goodness to their games. Pure gameplay bliss

I really like Returnal. I beat it once, spent well over 40 hours just doing that. The update looks dope, once I'm done with Horizon and Hades I might go back. But with any game, it's hard to go back when so much other stuff has come out.

The Returnal reddit has seen an uptick and people there seem to be really excited about it.

It changes a lot but there's always some constants.

1. MGS 3

2. Yakuza 0

3. Hydro Thunder (Dreamcast Version)

4. Devil May Cry 3

5. Returnal (First game to feel next gen to me)

6. Bloodborne

7. God of War (PS4)

8. Star Wars Demolition

9. Streets of Rage 2

10. Goldeneye 64 (Sometimes Halo CE takes this spot)

@HalcyonScarlet: Wasn't Elden Ring delayed though? I don't think it was meant to be on purpose

There's just less compelling arguments.....

1. Sheep are basically not here anymore

2. All the Hardcore lemmings can do is talk about GamePass, the only xbox exclusives are Gears, Halo, Forza and it's been that way for like 3 console gens now....

3. Sony relies heavily on 3rd person action games that stick to a formula

4. PC, Xbox, and PS are so close in power now the arguments for which hardware is better is almost trivial now, there's no point

Reviewers jumping on hype, giving Halo Infinite scores it does not deserves.

This exactly. This is a 7 out of 10 at BEST!!!

The game is incomplete, started over from almost scratch I bet with the delay, and the engine is broken because contract workers built it.

Never fall for the hype, how do we as gamers not learn our lesson!? I thought after CyberPunk things would be different....but nope!

Halo Infinite is also good. Best gameplay experience I have had in a Halo game in years. It is just unfortunate that it is a $60 game that is incomplete.

I agree. But IMO, it's a gamepass game that is fun now and one that the devs will add content for the next 3 years. I do wish it had more maps though. But I do appreciate a polished experience over one that is not, but with more content.

That's not a good outlook to have for games though. Just because something is "free" with a subscription doesn't mean we should hold it to lower standards. ESPECIALLY with big well known franchises.

If we do that we are going to keep getting unfinished shit games that will hopefully be updated. But guess what? Do you think publishers are going to keep a game alive over the years if no one is playing it? Fat chance.

Right now Infinite is broken, lacks content, and has no road map. It's dropping players like crazy and will only get worse when new games come out.

At the time of posting this DESTINY 2 is the 3rd most played game on Xbox. Infinite is at number 5

@onesiphorus: You realize most people don't buy a new car every year correct? The average age of a car in the US is almost 12 years old. I typically keep a car for 5-7 years.

Most people don't buy new phones every year either. I Keep mine 2-4 years

Very few consumers buy replacements every year
