Two of the BEST Deals in Gaming

Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition - Priced at $60, Valued at $110.

Burnout Paradise Complete Edition Bundle - Priced at $30, Valued at $125.

200 hours of gameplay for $90, with savings of ~$150? DEAL.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 - Fun with Tracer Darts :D

Ok, so I was over at my friends house today, and he had the BF:BC2 demo on his Xbox 360. So we were playing and I unlocked the tracer dart, which allows me to tag enemy vehicles so we can lock-on to them when using RPGs. However, I had much more fun.

When you shoot the dart, wherever it lands it leaves a glowing red dot. So I followed around my own teammates who were snipers and taged them between the eyes, rendering them blind until they died. So they were running into walls for a while before the realized what was happening, only to be blown up by an RPG. :P

Ah, good times. Good times. By the way, anyone like my new profile banner?

Fallout 3: Finished! ...but not nearly completed.

Well, it took me exactly a month, but I completed the main storyline in Fallout 3 (GOTY). It was a great game, but I'm not nearly done with the it. I still have upwards of 30 to 40 more missions to complete on top of the 20 I have already enjoyed. I'm level 24 of 30, and have explored only 1/4 of the entire map!

I guess the point I'm trying to make is, after 45 hours and there's STILL this much content to play through, this was one heck of a deal (and present if I might add. :P)

Anyway, what games are you guys playing at the moment? Plus, remind me of what consoles you own, I've lost track. That way we can add each other on the respective systems (grumbles at Wii friend codes).

StargamerX's Top 10 Games of 2009

Ok, I'm going to be completely honest here, I forgot I was going to make this list. Perhaps it was because I was so busy enjoying the holidays? Playing my new games? Anticipating the transition into a new decade of life? Well, regardless of all that, I remembered witha couplehours to spare. So here is a list ranking my Top 10 games of 2009:

--

10. The Beatles: Rock Band

- I am a Bealtes fan. Not a die-hard fan, not a casual "Oh yeah, I like The Beatles" fan; just a fan enough to buy this game and enjoy it. Plus, it wasn't just another game for me, owning just 3 of the 30 to 40 odd renditions of the music/rhythm game genre. It's fun to play as the Beatles too, and allowed this game to sneak in to my favorite games of the year.

--

9. Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier

- From the moments I read the announcement article to today, my attitude towards this game has gone as follows: Yes! Oh, PSP? Those are the graphics? This is an April Fool's joke! It's not? Oh crap. Jak, with superpowers? 40% air combat? Dark Daxter? I hate you High Impact Games. *Played game* Hey, this is alright. That was fun. The air combat's not that bad… Alright, HIG, not bad. I have yet to finish the game, but let's just say don't judge a game by the consistently depressing coverage on said game until you have played it.

--

8. Braid

- I was very interested in this game when I played it on my friend's Xbox 360, and wished it were available on PS3, and as luck would have it, it was announced a few days later as being in development. I loved the complex puzzles and dark mood throughout the game, and was definitely a great value even at $15. Now, where's Castle Crashers…?

--

7. Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story

- I ended up buying this game to tide me over during the downfall of my PS3. I planned to anyway, but I'm glad I didn't put this game off until now, because it would be greatly overshadowed by the other games I now own. This game had the humor and accessible RPG elements for me, and I had a lot of fun ranking up my 'stache. Unfortunately, the return of my PS3 prevented me from completing this game, yet. Fret not my fellow gamers, nary one game that I purchase lie unfinished. (As my copy of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker stares back at me)

--

6. Killzone 2

- Released earlier in the year, Killzone 2 was a fun title. This came to me as a more spontaneous purchase, since I only followed the game for a few months before release, not 5 years as most others. Still, the graphics were superb and a good story kept me interested. Interestingly enough, this is one of the few titles I enjoy the multiplayer more the campaign, and that's really rare for me.

--

5. Borderlands / Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition [TIE]

- Ok, I could not choose between these 2 games. Note, I have finished neither, as I have had these RPGs for only a week. Still, that's long enough to know these are excellent titles. The reason these tie is because they are similar games, just Borderlands is great cooperatively, and Fallout 3 is great solitary.

--

4. Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time

- Another Ratchet and Clank game, better or just more of the same? However, 'same' is the keyword here. I would willingly pay to play the same game mechanics, such that Ratchet and Clank have done their past few installments. Just make more guns, more levels, and more funny puns and I would be set. This game was a little different, Ratchet and Clank were separated. I didn't like that, though I still enjoyed this game and placed #4 in 2009 for me.

--

3. inFamous

- This was the game that I spent Q1 of 2009 eagerly waiting to play. From the great developers at Sucker Punch came this dark horse, superhero game that made you feel powerful in Empire City. Your choices led to new and better powers, and became more fun as you progressed into the story; which had an excellent ending in my opinion.

--

2. Batman: Arkham Asylum

- Definitely a surprise to me, as well as many others, Batman was a fantastic game. I had so much fun playing this game, it almost, almost, took #1. Reminiscent of my time in Rapture, this game had the atmosphere to make you feel as if you were in an insane asylum. On top of that, you actually felt like the Batman. I can't say enough of how much I enjoyed this game.

--

1. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

- This game takes the cake. Between the graphics, story, gameplay, cinematics, and multiplayer, this game had it all. Easily the best value in gaming for me this year, and who wouldn't want to play this campaign? Not much else needs to be said, right?

--

Honorable Mentions: New Super Mario Bros. Wii, The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, Shatter

(These games didn't make it because I wasn't able to play enough of them to make a fair judgment)

So there you have it. Obviously, I didn't play every game in 2009, so your favorite game may not be included above (MW2 *cough cough*). Comment below your favorite games of the year, and shout out to how you think the games should be ordered. Now, I'll leave you with a much quicker list of some of my favorite gaming franchises of the 2000s (in no specific order, that's just too hard to decide :P):

· Jak and Daxter

· Mario

· Metroid Prime

· Ratchet and Clank

· Resistance

· Sly Cooper

· The Legend of Zelda

· Uncharted

Have a Happy New Year, and I hope you have fun tonight; even though most of you won't read this until tomorrow, and some of you arealready even in the new year... Tell me, what's the future like?

Christmas Aftermath

Okay, another Christmas has come and gone, and now it's time for me to reflect on all of the gifts I received. :P If you've checked my 'Now Playing' list, then you might know what I got gaming wise, but for the unenlightened:

  • Borderlands
  • Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition
  • Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier
  • The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks

I also got a new Nintendo DS Lite, an upgrade from the 5-year-old tank I've been using. Finally, no more dead pixels, worn-down touch screen, broken R-trigger, chewed-up stylus (dog), and dull back-light. First I got the Cobalt Blue, but exchanged it for a "Polar White," and ultimately opened it up to find it Metallic Silver. Ah, close enough. :P

Finally gaming-wise, I got a new PS3 Dualshock 3 controller, not a bad pick-up. Other than that I got plenty of clothes, a Jerry Seinfeld DVD, and some Beatles and Billy Joel CDs.

Overall I'd say I had a great holiday, not just because of the gifts, but getting together with family and having fun.

So did you guys have a good holiday? Get anything good? ;)

My blog re-vamp for 2010

Okay, I started posting blogs this year, and as I feared (and as the reason I hadn't before) I fell off track and hardly posted. So, my goal for the new year of 2010 is to post more frequently about my gaming. Hopefully some of you will follow along. :P

However, before the new year even starts, I want to reflect on my Top 10 overall games of 2009, and will be appropriately titled: StargamerX's Top 10 Games of 2009. Go figure. I will have the list for you on December 31. I know that's cutting it close, but as I am cheap, I have a lot of games heading my way this Christmas, so I want to make sure to play enough of those to see if they can shuffle up onto the list.

Summer Update

So, it's been a while since I have posted a blog, so I thought I'd inform you of some recent purchases:

  • Ghostbusters: The Video Game - 8/10
  • Battlefield 1943 - 9/10
  • Shatter - 9/10

I'm also debating on getting Fat Princess sometime. Other than that I have gotten closer to an Resistance 2 platinum trophy, although I am still FAR away with 8500+ kills to go in online competitive. Same with MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, I have been playing through that and expect to get some more trophies on the way.

On the topic of trophies, you may now notice my level has increased dramaticlly, and I have almost reached Level 9, a long ways from Level 6 I started at coming into summer.

I will also be getting some more games through the rest of summer (stay away September 23!), as it's a special time of year. Here's a gaming wishlist:

  • Assassin's Creed ($30)/PS3
  • Batman: Arkham Asylum ($60)/PS3/August 25
  • Battlefield: Bad Company ($20)/PS3
  • Resistance: Retribution ($40)/PSP
  • The Beatles: Rock Band ($60)/PS3/September 9
  • The Conduit ($50)/Wii
  • Uncharted 2: Among Thieves ($60)/PS3/October 13
  • Wii Sports Resort (w/ Wii Motion Plus) ($50)/Wii, Wii Motion Plus ($20)/Wii
  • Dualshock 3 Controller (2) ($55)/PS3
  • The Beatles: Rock Band 'Rickenbacker' / 'Gretsch Duo-Jet' Guitar* ($100)/PS3/September 9
  • Wii Points Card ($20)/Wii

So there's a quick update, and I'll leave you with pics of my Uncharted 2 schwag! (Not actually my pictures, but the same stuff):

Fun with PhotoShop - PS3 Games

Well, the other day I was bored with nothing to do, so I messed around in PhotoShop for a while. I found a few pictures of several PS3 games, then I had fun with saturation. So here are just a few pictures I edited, nothing special, but I think they look cool.

inFamous is here!

I recently bought inFamous last night (and picked up my Gigawatt Blades power and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves beta key)! I spent nearly 6 1/2 hours with the game so far, and I am almost 30%. As soon as I started playing, I was addicted to the gameplay mechanics, and they keep evolving as the game progresses at its fast pace. However, that doesn't mean I haven't been crawling around the city looking for Dead Drops and more Blast Shards! All in all, it's a nice package and am glad I picked it up.I encourage everyone to give this game a try, because once you warm up to it, you won't want to stop playing. :)

Yes, this is indeed, a blog.

Well, I have been on GameSpot for 3 years now; today marks the beginning of the 4th. I never started a blog, but now that I have been here this long, I believe it's time to test some new waters. From now on, I will try to maintain a blog, and hopefully some of you will care enough to read. :P

To start off, I will say a little bit about the games I like. I have an NES, Sega Genesis, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo 64, Playstation 2, Playstation 3, Nintendo DS, and a Nintendo Wii. Add that and backwards compatibility and you have a lot. Basically, anything developed by Naughty Dog, Insomniac Games, or Sucker Punch is a game purchased by me. Other than that, I like strategy and over action / adventure games.

In other news, I recently obtained an infamous Demo code by a very generous person, and it is electrifying! I preordered at GameStop to get the special Gigawatt Blades too.

That was a quick blog to let you know what's happening, and I hope to continue making them in the future.
