Sony is going to introduce another PS3 model soon. It should be priced somewhere around $400-$450.

Before someone says I'm full of it, even MS is saying they think Sony is going to do this. It's why they are phasing out the 60 gig models....you get rid of the PS2 chipset, reduce the Harddrive size, and what you get is a brand new pricepoint.

Also if you didn't notice they are phasing out the saxsis controller as well. With the new rumble controller coming out they are trying to dump as many of the old controllers as they can. It's one reason why you have the 80 gig limited edition model with Motorstorm have TWO controllers (not to mention all those retailer deals that had extra controllers included when you purchased the PS3 with them).

interesting!!! that controller thing does make sense... :)

they ll proly add the rumble pack and keep the sixaxis

well i need the wifi so i hope they include that. but i was readin some were that they fixed the problem with the 360. if u get ur 360 repared u get this new coolin system or some new part but the newer systems comin out have this part in them so i think there will be less defaulty consoles.

btw when u say get rid of ps2 chip set that kinda means bye bye backwards compatiblity

darthogre

Yes they "think" they have fixed the X360 problem. The reason I say wait to buy one is because the new chipset hasn't released yet. They are redisigning the entire inards of the X360 so it'll be much better than just getting it repaired with a new heatsink and paste.

Backwards compatibility will not go away, I believe they are saying that it's somewhere around 90% compatible with PS1/PS2 software through emulation. But yeah, if you want 100% you better buy one now.

even if they make a $400 one it will still be able to play killzone 1 so i can rent it for some back story to killzone 2(looks so awsome) and GoW 1 and 2 for the same reason.

ok cool $400-$450 is alot less to save up for. do u think it will have built in wifi? and i though some games used the sixais like lair. but thats cool that there bringin back the rumble pack. so i geuss my theory is right the longer u wait for a ps3 the better deal u get

its true and your a little late... Well yeah you have to get the 80gig for 600 bucks but I am pretty sure when the 60 gig is gone you can see a price drop of a 100 bucks on the 80gig without motorstorm.fistoflight

well that works out if they drop the price of the 80 gig once they 60 is gone it just means i get a better deal next year. it seems like the longer u wait to get the ps3 the better ur deal gets
