The Wii won 2007.

this ps3 lost this year due to the price, andthe lack of backwards compatibility in Europe. the 360 had to rely on halo 3 (pointless and overrated).

I've been playing games since the mid eighties and up until this and the last generation i have never owned 2 Nintendo consoles at once. the games are fun and enjoyable on Nintendo consoles, PS3 and Xbox 360 games are two similar and getting pointless.

So what that casual gamers are now getting into gaming because of Nintendo. the DS won the hand held wars because it was designed to appeal to everyone, the psp tried to out do it just by being a mini ps2, and have music on it.

Now gaming is no longer the stuff of nerds and geeks, everyone is starting to enjoy it so i say welcome to all new gamers.

When are we going to put this to rest? Just because the Wii is being made and sold at the same time as xbox360 and PS3 does not mean it is the same generation. If SEGA were to rebadge the Genesis, call it the Gee and sell it for $19; would it still count as a contender for this generation?

Unlike last gen, there's no clear winner yet. I think that once the PS3 catches up, they'll all stay fairly close for the rest of the gen.Planeforger

I see what your saying about similar game linup no doubt the 360 was still ahead mostly due to an entire year head start but the difference was not that great the releases on both in the smae time frame were pretty equal in term of qulaity and if you compare the first years linup of each system again the number of qulity titles is a very difference obviouly right now the 360 has more games and more higher scoring game but it has had an entire year more.

objectively looking at it the systems are on a very similar path and we really won't know until the end of the gen exactly who ended up the best linup essentially I'm saying the 360 fans gloating is very premasturee. Also if you don't think the ps3 has passed the 360 launch linup you are a fanboy who can't be helped.

For all that is Holy I've never understood that argument by fanboys... "Well it's doing just as good as the 360 did it's first year".. WTF? So the 360's second year, in which it kicking the sht out of the PS3, shouldn't count for some reason? Why are we comparing stats that way? Regardless of what the PS3 is doing compared to the 360's first year, ITS THE 360s SECOND YEAR!!! And it's still outselling the PS3..

Provided the console is being used and enjoyed, I don't think a cow should regret their purchase. Cows who bought for the future games could have waited and saved some coin. The real losers were the people who bought them to re-sell on ebay. I don't feel sorry for them at all, as they were only trying to rip other people off.

(etc)... having less sports and fps makes the spreading of genres just so much more diverse and offers more variety. There are probably more of those games than shooter and sports games combined, unlike the 360 where those to genres alone probably make up half the market.

Nintendo needs to create new ip's

I never liked Mario (Luigi?)...whatever.....since the first time I saw him on a Donkey Kong machine in the arcade.

I would think the system that came out later would be better, no? I think that coming out a year earlier is a handicap.

Unless you knew that PS3 hardware was finalised about the time 360 harwdare was too, just blue ray delays made it come much later

I guess Blu-ray snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory! I have an x360, but, I guarantee that PS3 would be cleaning x360's clock if they came out at the same time and for nearly the same price.
