You missed it. There was one naysayer crapping up the comment section, saying inane things like "Nintendo bit the hand that feeds them", and insulting everyone who "disagreed" with his "logic" that he never gave out.
There are Retail return policies, which occur for the store, and there are manufacturing return policies, which go back to who made them.
And even if you do return it to the retail store, the store has to send it back to the manufacturer anyway. Either way, Nintendo gets the defective system back.
Defective products. Nintendo has a return policy in effect, so they get the bad handhelds sent back, which they go about fixing up. And then they resell those at a discounted price.
