GT bundle at a new pricepoint, probably a Pro console to show how awesome it is for half the price. I have both basic machines and as of now I intend to skip both 4K updates, it feels like a Gameboy type product where they'll push us to buy multiple iterations of the same device that you wind up just playing Tetris with.
Okay, so after another 2 or so patches and as many price cuts I might finally buy the game that I bought the PS4 for... and at this rate by then the PS5 will be out.
Where are the true standout games this gen? The Skyrim or Red Dead? The Resident Evil 4 or Soul Calibur? The Mario 64 or the Tomb Raider? Each generation and almost every device has standout experiences, ask anyone who's faced the Zerg or unleashed all you know what with Alucard. Point is, I haven't seen one this gen. I own an Xbox One, PS4 and a Wii U and I have stuff that's been okay on all three, but nothing truly special. The first time you saw Pac-Man on your TV, saw a Yoshi egg hatch or entered a book in Myst, games were special and more than just a higher polygon count on a game you've played before. I like graphics, but give me something special on my new console before expecting me to drop another half grand on the next one. If they're just going to reskin old stuff, dig deep and bring back old genres on console. Flight sims, turn-based, true adventure stuff. Yes I have King's Quest and Grim Fandango, but they're very cheap Steam type Indie stuff; great but not setting the world on fire. I'd just like to see something from any of them before expecting us to upgrade. They really are trying to be like cell phones, they expect us to buy the new iPhone/Galaxt withouy a single unique standout app; except that only works when you can show off your cutting edge phone as a status symbol. I'm not going to carry around my Xbox on my shoulder like a Boom Box in the '80s.
The actor on the cover looks like Neal McDonough from Band of Brothers. If they actually follow the 506th and use all that money and actor motion capture to use the HBO cast, this could be truly amazing. Then again, if experience has taught us anything it'll be a h-a shooting gallery staring Benedict Cumberbatch.
Ironic that Phil still uses the original X-box logo, since they said the same thing when the 360 was released and we got zero support for the original afterwards. What's sad is that the new games will either really use the extra muscle to the point that the games will be crap on the existing machines, angering those of us who've invested heavily in a console so we don't have to again this soon; or keeping them backwards compatible will limit future titles so that we don't get new experiences, just more polygons. That's my biggest frustration now, I can't think of anything on either the xb1 or ps4 that couldn't be on last gen minus the graphics polish. They can give actors faces blackheads and individual hair strands but nothing new in gameplay.
@Itzsfo0: I wouldn't waste my time. You're right that the winners win't see it that way, but as there are over 6800 Gamestop locations in the US with an average customer count the week of Christmas of maybe 450 people per day, your odds are probably about 3 million to one. The promotion is worth it to Gamestop, for a small cost thet'll attract plenty of customers, me included, but I'm not going to cruise and buy from stores to up my odds.
