Wasting on an MMO that is f2p with no new content = epic fail, rarely any GM service = epic fail, with lots of bots = epic fail, with anyblody playing it because they don't want to pay for a game = epic fail.

Whats you point? i never said Free MMOs are good, they are complete crap

Perfect World and Runes of Magic are actually quite good for F2P. Both games are update regularly and are nearly as full featured as most of the popular MMOs.

Not when there is always a bot out there spamming to , which I have experienced intensively both in PW and RoM.

If FFXIV costs $60, it should come with AT LEAST 3-6 months free.Messiahbolical-

Those 60 dollars are the cost for making the game, not maintaining it.

There wasn't? Paying for a MMO is expensive is what you said. Which is why I in turn asked if you buy a new game every 4months because a new game = 4months in an mmo. So if you bought a new game every month then saying 15 a month is too much that's a flaw in your statement.

SpruceCaboose

I never said expensive. I said they tend to be costly over the course of a year. Costly is a value judgment by definition, and to me, $180 per year to play one game you already bought is costly.

Yet, it is one game that you truly liked to begin with. What are the chances that you buy a game that you like a lot? If I said screw the rating system and rated FFXI on my terms it'll be close to a 10. Would it better to buy some game that you didn't like in the first place and waste 50 dollars on it?

[QUOTE="Shoooryuken"]I have yet to see a good MMO. What I connect with MMOs are hours of mindless grindingsessions and the lack of real gameplay. Very monotonous fights and dumb bossfights. I was so sad when it said "Online" on Final Fantasy XIVPC360Wii

"dumb boss fights" oh please show me what your idea of a good boss fight is, let me guess, sephiroth or something that relies purely on cutscenes and has bad static "watch" gameplay. where there is no ability balance, the bosses are a walk-over ect. but yea, sephiroth is teh badass awesome fight coz he makes me watch planets blow up wasting 45 seconds of my time on an attack that does bugger all because apperently final bosses shouldnt be tough.

May I add Knights of the Round and Omni Slash to making Sep tough?

Your options:

1) MMO

2) Free

3) Good

Choose two.

hoplayletsplay

How does free and good work together, I'll have that please :P

That would be console games which are solo play XD.

[QUOTE="Silenthps"][QUOTE="kardine"]

I know one game that could be a WoW competitor because I really do not see those other MMOs as even competing on the same level as WoW and that is a Pokemon MMO.

kardine

was just about to post this. A Pokemon MMO could destroy wow

I wouldn't go as far as destroy, but being that it would do things so differently and not just try and copy and paste what WoW has already nailed I think it would be a heavy competitor where other games were merely a fly on the wall.

A pokemon MMO might not be half bad.... except they should of stopped Pokemon after the 3rd season. Would of been great to do a Pokemon battle all over the world and still play like it was solo.

Well, for those who try to spend time (I tried to spend my time on FFXI ... sadly I gave way for my college courses when it got intense) quite a few actually have a story that rivals many of the solo content games ^^. I mean ... FFXI actually had cutscenes and good background music to it.

I say that MMOs aren't "epic fail" because they ar ehuge in content (especially the pay to play ones) 2 years can amount to a story rivaling as many games as you play in that alotted time.

Thats a pretty big claim... I think it depends on price and how many hours you put into a game... if you play the game everyday and only pay like $5 a month or so- I don't think thatd be a bad deal.

Hmm..well here in Australia it is $40 a month for WoW...

There is your problem.... most don't get near $20 dollar.... let alone about $15... 2 years amount for what 4 games theses days? I mean $50 dollar per new game on the PS3
