I just bought a new motherboard and everything was set up. I pressed the power button and on she went. Then like 30 second later she'd shut off. First I thought I fried my motherboard. Then I thought my PSU wasn't strong enough. So for 2 days I tried to figure out what it was. Then I realized my cpu fan wasn't installed correctly...

My Computer says I only have 1 gig inside.

Also when I tried to use the slower ram with my new motherboard the thing wouldn't start at all. Once I took out the slower ram the computer would start but then shut down after a while(My fault, I didn't install the cpu fan correctly)

So I have 2 gigs of ram in my computer but when I checked on the dxdiag it said I only have one. Before I used to have 3 gigs ,but due to a ddr standard thingy I had to take out 2 512mb sticks out which left my 2 1 gig ram sticks. Do you guys think 1 stick of ram is fried?

Ok so i've been looking up if Windows XP home edition will allow a Q6600 to use all 4 cores. I heard it can't, I heard it can. I heard it will only use 2 cores and I heard it will use 4. Does anyone have a definite answer to this?

Ok so im a computer newbie so I need some help with my motherboard. I have a GA-8N-SLI Royal with a Pentium D. I was wondering if I could upgrade to Q6600 or some other quad core but google didn't have an answer for that. Do you guys think it'd work or should I get a new motherboard?
