In my biased Canadian taught American History class my teacher suggests that people who fly the confederate flag do so in admiration of the traditional southern lifestyle, with the wife and husband on the farm and etc. Which wasn't possible after the civil war.

[QUOTE="yoshi_64"]Wrong, I have discovered my lower tier Yoshi has no problems battling a higher tier character. Guess I'm just too good for the game... yoshi_64

Don't praise yourself too much.

Don't play your numbers and blame them when they don't favor you.

You just can't take personal experience and apply it to data collected by an entire community.

Inbalanced characters? They were extremely balanced actually, better than the godly Seth from Street Fighter 4. Because that game was SOOO balanced. It also does reward "skill", just because the controls aren't crippled and don't require ridiculous analog movements and button combinations to pull off moves doesn't mean there's no skill involved. It's competetive, you fight people, therefore, competetive fighting game.enterawesome

Maybe you should learn about a game before calling it balanced. Seth is in no way "cheap", infact there hasn't been a seth player that has won any major tournaments. Also, Metaknight and Snake>everyone else in brawl.

Any game can be competitive if you allow it to be. I've had good competition in both Melee and Brawl.

And honestly, the only reason why many people seem to hate Brawl is because they no longer have that "wavedashing" glitch to exploit. God forbid Nintendo wants to change up their games a little, and want to fix glitches. :?

DJ-Lafleur

There are far more things than wavedashing that make melee a far better competitive game than brawl.

Nice, you clearly don't get it.

A. Character lock on - Depending on your position, toward and away change on your D-Pad. (E.g. On the left side of the screen, toward is right, away is left. It's the opposite when you're on the right side of the screen.) Do any of the Smash games do that? No, they don't.

B. Yeah, ignore the other stages and everything will be alright.

C. I clearly stated that already.

D. As I did this.

MadVybz

By your definition Tekken 4 isn't a fighter either.

Care to explain since I never played Tekken 4?

Also, this isn't my definition...Just because you may not have heard of this before doesn't mean that I'm just making stuff up.

Certain T4 stages feature uneven or slanted ground.

I never meant to challenge the given definition of fighters btw :P

No.

A.Character Lock on? No.

B. Level stages without random elements? No.

C. Random spawing items? Yes. (Although you can turn them off)

D. Pre-determined health? No. (Once again, you can though)

C and D are variable, while A and B aren't. You can't have some of the criteria, you need all of it.

MadVybz

A.The gameplay is in 2D you don't even need that.

B. Final Destination

C. You can turn those off

D. Yes, you can

[QUOTE="savebattery"] No, really.savebattery

And what makes you say that, hmm?

Virtua Fighter 5, first off. Second, Street Fighter IV has become the DoA of 2D fighters. If the game is too deep casuals won't buy it, so instead we'll add super flashy specials and easy combos. The game is very, very unbalanced and the tier lists are pretty set. Of course a great player with any character can be competitive, but if two players are of the same skill level Sagat will always win.

There wasn't a single Sagat player that made it to the final 8 during Evo 2009, the biggest fighting tournament in the united states. I have no idea why you'd say that Sagat will always win, considering he's even with a large portion of the cast.

[QUOTE="shutdown_202"]

[QUOTE="shadow_hosi"]DoA4 and brawl are tied the rest kinda sucked hardshadow_hosi

Holy crap, the exact same answer as me, i thought i was the only one. Glad to see someone else identifies its more than just a great fighting system that makes a good fighitng game.

well, they both are more than just mindless combos, brawl is just how you make your own combos of basic attacks and DoA is...well.....combos are simple and the counter system makes it far better than any other game IMO because every attack you do might backfire on you

True except there are no combos in brawl that don't involve chain grabs and auto-combo special b moves.
