Getting into EVE again...

Really enjoying this mmorpg after quiting 2 years ago as i did play it since 2003. I jsut love the freedom of the game and the fact that it ain't another fantasy mmorpg. Partly enjoying it sooo much because there snothing else worth playing specially in the sci fi genre for mmorpgs and partly because it's such a great game.

Why do people love Nintendo sooo much?

I don't mean this to be a flame thread but i just don't understand it lol, i'm not a Microsoft or Sony Fanboi, i don't currently even own a console and don't intend to buy one. However when i hear news from/about Nintendo it's always underwhelming but everyone seems to get excited about it. Does nostalgia play a part in this? I think maybe but tbh all the people who played Nintendo in the glory days must be about 30 by now. When i heard all this news about the "wii" i could smell it's going to be crap from a mile off. The sales show otherwise lol but i can't name one good game you'd call a "classic" or wanna play.

Everyone wanted a better graphical version of Zelda 64 but when it came with TP the game just had no real hype and people played it and were like "oh well" lol. The game just hasn't aged well and nostalgia is a bad thing because it's never as good as you remember. So what games does Nintendo have but some cheap gimmicks to use the controller? Only one i can think of thats hyped is Mario and tbh i don't think it'll do well. The only 3d Mario game that has since is Mario 64 which only done well because it was one of the first 3d platformers. I don't think people will take too well to the whole space thing aswel and i think Mario will show that he's just a bland boring dated character that should stick to 2d or die in the 80's.

The Wii bothers me too...... i don't get why people bought into the hype that atm has just been a waste of money. A crontroller with a bad speaker on it and the gimmick that you can move it to move aroud on screen? Right........ lol. You only have to move the controller in the games a touch, it's just like moving your hand like you do with e normal controller. It doesn't enhance the gameplay and i think it's just a gimmick Nintendo wanted to make just so they could make a cheap console and get everyone to buy it while making a profit.

Then i go onto the DS and altho thats done amazingly well i fail to see why. I just don't see the good games on it or when your going to play them? Nintendogs is a girls game and Mario games are the same thing over and over again, im bored of that. Then Zelda oh it's the same as the last 2d Zelda lol. Then theres loadsa goofey Japanese mini games which suck and some lawyer game...... doctor game. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm,........ this handheld sucks and the touch screen is justa  gimmick that really doesn;t enchance the gameplay lol.

Maybe it's just me but Nintendo died with the N64 which had some good games for it's time but just totally outplayed by Sony and never recovered. I think they appeal too much for the Japanese market for me and just try to run on cheap gimmicks and nostalgia. They don't try to innovate but rather just stay in the past and all this interact thing with the games was done in the 80's too lol.

I don't just mean to pick on Nintendo though, i think Microsoft Xbox has no good games and the 2 big games Gears of War and Halo are just very overhyped and i thought "same old" and as a PC gamer them games have been done before and better. I also think the Xbox is the blandest outta the consoles and most of the good games i can just buy better on PC anyways lol. I think people are making too much of a big deal over live and theres no way i'd pay money for Live ontop of paying money for the console and the games i want to play on it : Ok if it's for the service ofdownloading demos and **** but not to playt he damn games i just bought online.

I also think (excluding the PS1 cause that console was great) Sony are a bunch of Lying ****s who i believe are the best outta the 3 but still the PS2 was crap apart from GTA and until God of War lol and the PS3........ why would i wanna buy that thing any time soon?

+ Everyones going to be sooo disappointed when Sony show off Killzone 2, it's obvious the game wont look as good as the early trailer so why even bother hyping it.

The key to playing WOW...

- Don't go at the game like you just wanna get from 1 - 70 because you wont have fun, you gotta admire the game and have fun with friends.
- Joing a Guild, don't play solo because you wont have fun there, the games about group play and thats why u play a mmorpg.
- Do everything, like PVP in BG's at level 20 and world PVP + do the fun quests and world events.
- Take breaks, if you play everyday you'll be bored lol.
- Ask for new content, content you want.
- Create videos, it'll give you more fun in the game.
- play with music.
- Play and stick to one C*L*A*S*S until you get to 70, then you'll have replayablity next time round for all the new content AND you wont get bored of doing the same stuff voer and over.

etc etc.

I went at the game like im gonna get to 70 and be the ultimate PVP champ, but then i got bored. I tried to play many ****s but got bored too and ende dup hating the game.

Online gaming...

For me the games themselves are pretty great online and quite fun, however it's the actual players that just ruin it for me and make me not want to play. As soon as people are rude to me i'm like "i'm unistalling this game, i don't want to be apart of something where people act like this" and i find that a mature community isn't always the answer. What i find is the worst online games for communities are FPS and RTS games, mmorpgs don't trail far behind however.

 RTS:

All that ever seems to happen is you spend about 5 hours trying to find a game and when you do people just drop outta the game ruining it lol. Also it's very hard to find games where everyone has good pings, i have yet to play one where people don't lag. Whats worse is everyone seems to think they're Jeremy from PurePwnage and are like "omg i'm uber l33t" "lol u noob" etc etc.

I tried joining games on supcom and i just get people going "omg you havnt compleetd single player game, you can't play multiplayer until you do", so i'm like "why would anyone wanna play supcom multiplayer?". Apparently if you havn't played like 500 games then you cant join a server, and it's like i don't want to be l33t, i just wanna have fun playing. Being good at a game wont get me anywhere in life and tbh if it did i wouldn't want to waste my life on it. So i'm like ok i'll join a noob game and see how that works out...... All that happened was peopel insulting me going "omg no rushers" and then people joining alliances with the enemy and teaming up doing a 5 vs 1 (me) and its liek whats the point?

All i found happening on Supcom is being insulted and took like 5 hours to join a game thats good.

So i unistalled the game.....

With COH the community wasn't soooo bad but it's the actual online service and gameplay mechanics that are the worst. All i see happening is peopel trying to play the game on a subpar system and it just doesn't work, you can never get a game going what so ever! I spent hours trying to get games but everyone keeps dropping! o i'm trying to do a 3 vs 3 and finally everyone joins but 5 mins into the game 2 guys on my team leave me with a 1 vs 3 and obviously i lost that one lol.

So with COH i just can't be bothered to find a game so i have no choice to unistall.

RTS games are only useful if with Lan against your friends, otherwise prepared to be constantly insulted and spending hours finding a game.

FPS:

What seems to happen on FPS games is you'll constantly have people **** hacker and that in chat and insulting people and beign racist etc etc. However the worst problem with them is many of them are meant for playing as a team, however noone ever does. People go all loner and your team eventually loses because of it which is annoying.

What i hate is in BF2 all people seemed to do is TK you for weapons or vehicles and it gets very annoying. And in games like CSS you'll get the annoying trolls over the chat and the horrible admins who think they'r eright when they are not. You'll get people TK'in all the time just pureply to annoy people and noone every goes for the objective.

What i also hate is alot of Admins don't know how to setup their servers so alot of the time you'll ahve hitbox/registry issues or just some annoying plugin that ruins the game. It's easy to get a game in FPS but the people again who play it just ruin it for me.

Again i can only play Lan.

MMORPG:

Problem with these games is there tends to be 2 types:

Mature/hardcore mmorpgs:

generally are buggy and unfinished with most things broken and they just become very tedious. The communities are very small and you'll often play alone, which is a problem because i place mmorpgs to group with other people. They have low budgets often and content coems few and far between lol. Being a mature community also isn't that great as everything thinks. Most the communities tend to ignore everyone like on EQ2 and only tend to talk in their guilds, so i think ok i'll ask to join. apparently however you need to be end level to join most the guilds in that game, but i don't want to play through the whole game missing the content on my own lol. I spent 3 weeks in EQ2 looking for a group to do a group quest, i didn't get one for my level. What tends to happen on matue mmorpgs is everyone is high level making it impossible to play through lower levels. What also happens is the community have a L33T state of mind and think they are better than everyone else and insult all other games. They tend to have many more fanbois and it's just not fun to play with.

Casual mmorpgs:

What happens here is they have bigger communities but there will be more people runing the game for you. I tend to find everyone shouting insults over chat and generally really bad PUGS. While they tend to be high budget and lots of content, i just seem to get bored of not having a risk/rewards. Nothing has any meaning in the games and this tends to bring out a younger community. I have no problem with  younger players but i just find they don't play as a team and always want to solo and insult you most of the time.

Maybe it's just me but my online experiences havn't been great since Online gaming became mainstream lately. I used to have fun with it back in the 90's where less people played and even uptill 2002. The past few years however it's been on a steady decline in terms of community, which always ruins the games for me. Atleast i can ignore forums where it's always "nerf this" and "nerf that" lol, but you can't ignore them in game so easily. Worst new trend i've seen is spam of mail boxes in mmorpgs full for adverts for selling gold.

I only like to play Lan with my mates nowadays, however the big problem with that is you don't have as many friends in real life as most of my friends don't play games + everyones at work or Uni.

RTS games have the worst communities...

Just full of little kids who think they're sooo leet and know everything. I can tell them that being good at a game isn't a life skill to have, it doesn't make you own in the real world so whocares? The constant server names like no NOOBS and **** on the forums about everything, you'd think people have better things to do than moan about a tiny bug in the game or one faction being slightly overpowered.

I dunno i think the show PurePwnage came out and now everyone tries to copy them.

Genre with the least innovation?

Posted this on the boards but wanted to keep this here aswel.

Mine would have to be RPG.

It's always been about the same thing on PC's which gets very boring and thats;

- Grinding
- Quests
- Levels
- character traits/trees like putting points here and there.
etc etc.

Infact as time has gone on RPG games on the PC seem to be getting worse and more stale which is annoying and boring. For me RPG stands for "Role playing game" and that means you play your character and progress with it throughout the game. So why does everyone seem to think RPG means gaining a level and XP doing kill this and that quests etc etc. I know this is what DnD says but tbh why keep copying that crap?

I wish someone would come up with a RPG all about visuals where you have no interface and your mouse can change everything in the game like it being your characters hands, Where character building would be your looks and clothes and your own wisdom and what you learn about the game. Skill based is sooo much better than restrictions set by the game.

I think PM shares alot of the same ideas but what he says and what he does are 2 different things. This also applys to the RTS genre however Black and White 2 failed lol.

People forget what the Playstation did for gaming...

Besides having really amazing games and specially the PS2 they've often giving ALOT of people in the industry jobs. The Playstation really opened gaming up to the mainstream and made it for adults with games like GT and GTA, Also it had the 3 best FF games ever made with amazing CGI cutscenes. Anyways it's obvious today that if it wasn't for Sony then there would be no Xbox aswel and no Halo and it would all be a much different story. Would HL eve exist?

I thanx the Playstation for making Gaming what it is today.
