No, hormone replacement therapy does nothing to change one's sense of gender identity - it can't make someone cisgender or transgender. It does lead to physiological changes, but that's it. The introduction of large amount of testosterone can influence someone's sexual preferences and standards. While it can't make someone feel any better about their association with a particular gender it can influence who they're sexually attracted to. So theoretically it could cure gayness in men. I guess I accidentally associated transgender with homosexuality.

Now, see, that's sort of bull$hit. Firstly, you don't even know the reasoning or intellect of the killers. According to the article, it seems that they weren't caught and no one knows why they did it. So you're just speculating here. And secondly, I'd even take issue with that first comment. Do you know who is also lacking in intellect and reasoning abilities? Children and mentally disabled people. By your logic, killing a child or a mentally retarded person should be seen as better than killing a "normal" adult. But it's sort of...NOT. People are even MORE protective of them, when (according to your logic) people should consider it a lesser crime since they lack the intellect and reasoning skills to be considered real people. Or hell...take instances in which children or mentally disabled people are the KILLERS instead of the victims. Does society tend to go easier on them because of their limited intellect and reasoning? Or does society treat them more harshly and put them down as if they were nothing more than a rabid animal? They're obviously not too smart - they got caught.

Basically people think it's a brain type thing - like when you're in the womb you're exposed to a lot of the wrong hormones or something. I think there's been stuff shown where some transgendered people's brains were like the brains of people who were the sex they identified with.

Oh, it has already been stated that the US Army, and by extension, the US Government, will not be giving Manning hormone therapy treatments or will he get an operation on the taxpayers dime. The brig at Leavenworth is run by the Department of Defense, not the Bureau of Prisons.

What a shame. I wonder if this would fall under cruel and unusual punishment. Last time I checked Gender Identity Disorder was a permanent medical disqualification for enlistment into the Army. If Manning's statement that he felt this way since a child was true the Army could just add fraudulent enlistment to the charges they already have against him for concealing a medical disqualification for the purpose of gaining entry into the Army. How bad is lying to uncle sam an enlisting? Been thinking about "forgetting" about my asthma and doing 4 years.
