[QUOTE="Fortier"]No...the reason why a lots of younger drivers get into accidents is because driving is a new concept for them and like anyone of any age, you'll always experiment and push to the limits something new in your life, especially of that magnitude.jt222_us

That's true to a certain point. Yes it's a new and big concept to them, but at the same time, they don't understand the consequences. I've taken flying lessons off and on for a few years and remember the first time I was left in the little Cessna single engine prop plane all alone and told, "Just take it up and around and try not to have a bumpy touchdown." I about shat myself because I realized what would happen if i messed up. Many younger folks don't realize that driving a vehicle doesn't make them invincible until it's too late.

True, but I'm 17, and I'm guilty of driving like I stole it. But the thing is I don't do that when other lives are at risk. I do it on empty streets because I know if I hit a car we are both screwed. And I guess I have the racer mentality too, which doesn't help :?

at least you admit it. many young people have a need for speed, which is why i think that there should be more race tracks set up for folks to go out and be able to step on the pedal and go real fast and have a good time without putting the public at risk.

I would definitely prefer a racetrack to the street. Streets are.....boring :? Definitely have the need for speed. Im surprised I havn't gotten a speeding ticket actually :D

Whether a new driver is 16 or 25, there are still going to be accidents. No matter what age, an inexperienced driver is still an inexperienced driver. And don't give me that maturity BS either. Just because you're mature doesn't mean you can drive.

Well I'm not mexican, but I am latino, and I've noticed what youre talking about within my race. My people being sucked into a downward spiral, seeing every latino around them doing the same thing, and following in their footsteps. I almost ended up in the downward spiral, but I didn't let myself be like the rest. Apparently other latinos call it "being white" just because I have decent grades and I actually want to do something with my life. And for the record, my girlfriend is Mexican, and she had a 3.8 GPA this past semester.

:| to people who think putting speed limiters on cars will work. When has something like that not been hacked/bypassed? I think the solution is to get idiots of the road...for example the teenage girls in their humongous SUV's that are gossiping on their cell phones all day. And I agree wtih one of those guys up there, speed isn't the cause of accidents, its idiots. Of course you aren't going to go 120 in a school zone, but I think you know what I mean.
