Insomniac hasn't made a truly good game in years (Resistance 3 came the closest, and that was only middling). Overstrike looked like it had personality, but that was before the devs partnered with EA for distribution, I'm betting.
Nothing which has come to light about this game since it was rebranded has seemed interesting at all. I'll pass on this EA-ified turd sandwich, thanks.
Decent review. I'm sorry you had such a rough time with it, Carolyn. I've seen some other reviews that note the challenge of this game during certain sequences, but they didn't really have as negative an experience. With that in mind, and considering your own, otherwise-positive, impressions of the game, I think I still might like this.
Garriot: I am so friggin' amazing! Wait, people think I said something incredibly idiotic and out of touch? But, I am amazing, have my finger on the pulse or the industry and could never say a such a thing! They must have just taken it out of context. Yes. Those idiots are taking my amazing analysis of the industry out of context! They suck.
@feleas If that is the case, I sincerely hope that Relic is working on more Dawn of War or Space Marine games. We both know that those and the Warhammer Fantasy RTS that Creative Assembly are going to be the most successful.
Unless this mobile shite takes off. In which case, sick the Inquisition on GW, for there is vile heresy at work within its walls.
@Deadly_Nemesis I'm pretty sure all of his crediblity went out the door as soon as he decided to grow a rat tail... which was a considerably long time ago, now.
The thing about his list is that it is fine, if you are in the late 80s to mid 90s. What Molyneux was doing in the 90s was actually pretty cool, but the quality of his work has dropped off considerably. Will Wright hasn't even made a game in half a decade, although no one could doubt his chops.
You want to talk great designers for that era that are still relevant? How about Sid fucking Meier! That dude still programs games and was involved in two of the best games of the last few years: Civ V and XCOM: Enemy Unknown.
This guy is an ego-maniac and hasn't produced a decent game in years. His shortlist of great game designers is twenty years old: what makes him think that he is still relevant? He made some crpgs 15 years ago? From what I've read, the dude actively ignores relevant advancements in the genre. Hell, Kevin mentioned that he didn't even know that Dark Souls was!
This guy is out of touch and clearly insane. I mean, I hope that his game isn't terrible (the rpg space is woefully under-represented nowadays), but, holy crap, what a nutjob.
