@James_xeno: I'd love to see the actual numbers of women that play these games let alone the SJW's that complain about them. They already skew the stats of people who play games in general by including the mobile/flash market, so we know that it's laughably low.
Just like movies and music, this industry has gone down the shit-tubes and the real passionate fans got dragged along with it. At least it's saving me money and freeing up time to play all the great games I've missed in the past.
Maybe things will get better by the 2030s. I'm not gonna hold my breath.
@lodoss900 I just mean in general. I just noticed that there's no 'thumb down' on the site. It's weird to only be able to upvote content & comments but not downvote them. It's a good way to judge if your user base likes the content your showing. Obviously, they don't care what we like or don't like to see, they're going to publish whatever they want. Was just an observation.
@straightcur: According to him the game was heavily pushed:
"At the end of the day it's astounding that a game that got this much attention from the press, that won awards, that had an all-star cast of writers and performers, that had a bizarre celebrity guest appearance(!) failed this hard. It scares me," he wrote.
Some people just don't want to play certain games. Marketing won't always sell something that isn't polished and needs more play-testing, as Johnnemann said himself.
@livedreamplay: I’m not complaining about games from the same genre being similar lol. As I stated in my previous post, my problem is with games trending towards being more RPG oriented when they shouldn’t be.
I only complained because it’s an existing IP that I expected to be much more actiony. I wouldn’t have even commented if this was an original title.
The fact is that putting in things like weapon stats/upgrades changes the overall feel of the game and obviously its core design. Because of that, we have one less action game in a sea of ‘whatever genre/RPG’.
I’m still gonna check the game out since I love GoW, but I don’t have high expectations from what I see in this video.
@Xristophoros: Not clueless, pretty on the mark if not a bit hyperbolic.
Point is that so many games just have to find some way to add XP and leveling up, quests, etc... these days. It works for some, but not everything needs to have it. I just wish we were getting more visceral AAA action games instead of these half-assed action RPG's.
Tell me it doesn't look like Tomb Raider, Horizon, Assassin's Creed, etc... We have our little journal/log book, XP, stat/weapon upgrades, crafting item pickups? lol. This shit is laughable. Looks like so many other games that've been popped out in the past eight years. Same old, same old.
I'm all for change and freshening things up, but turning your IP into an RPG lite isn't exactly new and exciting anymore, it's tired and bogs games down.
@ragnarocking I can see from the video alone that it looks pretty good, I was just being a bit sarcastic and slightly more critical because of my hatred for some of the other design choices. I actually like the slower behind the back combat, it seems more methodical and fun in it's own way.
I just hate these shitty RPG mechanics that seem to be peppered into a lot of new games where I feel they don't belong. It's a trend that I hope to see die very soon, but I feel that it's only going to happen more in the coming years.
Another game with crafting and RPG elements, when is this **** gonna get old? Instead of these useless mechanics they should be using development time to make the weapons actually feel like I'm hitting into flesh instead of cutting through a blanket.
Stuff's been going on for over a decade now guys, we should be hitting a cycle where we can go back to games that focus on the actual gameplay/combat. Not every game needs quests, open-world, crafting, numbers above the head when hit, etc...
I mean, this game looks like a carbon-copy of Horizon or the new Assassin's Creed.
