Call me Wii-Diculous

Well, here it is, I got a Wii.

Its actually a fantastic system, provided you're not hoping for many worthwhile original games. In all honesty, I don't even own any Wii games yet, and don't plan to for the time being, as there isn't really much out for the damned thing that grabs my interest. Basically, "Super Paper Mario" and the upcoming "Metroid Prime 3-Pack" are all that I'm interested in for now, though I'm sure to pick up any new Zelda or Metroid titles that get released, and though its probably going to be horrid, the Silent Hill remake will have to be in my collection, even just for completionist's sake.

That said, I'm having a wonderfull time using it as a retro-platform, which was my reason for buying one. Simply put, buying a Wii was cheaper and easier than buying an NES, SNES, N64 and TG16, and it plays my NGC games aswell. The Wii's Virtual Console is simply fantastic. I payed $60 for 6,000 points, and I was honestly astonished at the titles I ended up with. Many of these games in original cartrige format are fetchingrediculous sumsin specialty shops and ebay, yet I was able to download them for an average of $6-$7 each.

Here is what I got for my first 6,000 points ($60)

  • Legend of Zelda
  • Zelda II Advenetures of Link
  • Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past
  • Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
  • Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
  • Metroid
  • Super Metroid
  • Secret of Mana

Still on my wanted list for my next few points cards are:

  • Super Mario Bros. 1,2,3
  • Super Mario World
  • Paper Mario
  • Super Mario 64
  • Mario RPG: Legend of 7Stars
  • CastleVania 1,2,3,4
  • Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen

Anyhow, though I'm not about to start buying recent shovelware or Wii-Fit anytime soon, I am having a blast with my Nintendo Wii, even if just for the virtual console factor.

SIDE NOTE: my lastest review is now up, for "Eternal Sonata". It might not endear me to some of my RPG Temple bretherin, but it is my honest assessment of the title, and I stand by my opinion. Enjoy.

Hindsight is 20/20, and Expensive

Ever take a look on ebay, see an item at a friends house, or just get an itch to play a game you traded in years ago, and think to yourself, "dammit, why did I ever get rid of that!"? Thats exactly where I find myself today folks.

I'm buying a new tele this week, taking the plunge into HD with a spiffy new Sharp Aquos 1080p unit that will reap the benefits of my PS3's capabilities. That said, I also decided to keep my old tele to be used with the other two consoles I own, the PSone and PS2 (What can I say, I've been happily living in PlayStation Nation since 1997).

Thus while I'm currently in the midst of getting properly equiped for the current generation of gaming, I've also been spending alot of time trying to re-unite myself with the remnants of my once proud PSone collection. Needless to say, when I made the jump from PSone to PS2, I was alot younger. I had to trade/sell a significant portion of my PSone collection to get my PS2, and looking back, I wish I hadn't. Not because the PS2 wasn't worth it, but because those items I traded in for paltry sums are now worth rediculous coinage, and re-aquiring them is proving to be quite expensive. Hindsight is indeed 20/20.

Long Story Short, I'm now trying to fill in the holes of my PSone RPG collection, and it feels like a kick in the groin every time I fork over $40-$100 to re-aquire a game I already owned. Some titles have actually cost me more to purchase used than they did when they were brand new (Suikoden II, Tales of Destiny, Valkyrie Profile etc)

So share with me folks, which titles (PlayStation or otherwise) have you gotten rid of that you wish you hadn't?

Here is my shortlist:

  • Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen
  • Alundra
  • Persona 2
  • CastleVania: Symphony of the Night
  • Star Ocean: The Second Story

My Top 10 RPG List

Inspired by the recent blogs posted by RPG TEMPLE member AZELKOSMOS, I felt like sharing my personal top 10 RPG list. Please feel free free to respond with either your own top 10 list, thoughts on my list, or even better, suggestions as to what games I should check out next.

Whilest compiling the list, I had 2 key observations:

  • very few of my favorites are recent titles from the last generations
  • the PSone era was by leaps and bounds the best era in RPG gaming

Here is my list:

10. SHINING FORCE II (S-GEN)- This was the first grid based strategy RPG I ever played, and its unique (at the time) battle system was a breath of fresh air. The story wasn't overly great, but the game had just enough charm to go along with its addictive battle scenarios. This series should have remained a bright spot in SEGA's lineup, as it was really the inspiration that would lead to a whole new sub-genre (the strategy-RPG) but by the time the series hit the PS2, it had become a generic hack'n'slash affair, as series like Final Fantasy Tactics, Disgaea, Phantom Brave, Fire Emblem and such now reaped the benefits of the gameplay mechanics that Shining Force I &II inspired.

9. ELDER SCROLLS IV: OBLIVION GOTYE (PS3) - The only current generation title to make my list, but a title that I thoroughly enjoyed. Actually, I'm still enjoying it, because the damned game is 300 hours long, and I'm still only about 100 hours along, yet to get the main quest rolling at full speed. The open concept isn't for everyone, but I was thrilled to be able to go anywhere and do anything I wanted, and at times it was enjoyable just roaming the gameworld without any particular motivation other than pure exploration. The combat was intense being in real-time first person, and the depth and impressively massive worlds and dungeonswere staggering. The weather effects and realistic time passing night to day really help draw you into the concept. My only complaints are that they removed 2 of my favorite features from Morrowind; the ablility to layer many different styles and types of armors and clothing to create truly unique looking character, and the point and click open item menu screen. That said, thank the good maker they fixed the journal system.

8. PHANTASY STAR IV (S-GEN) - This entire early Phantasy Star lineup always intrigued me simply because it chose a sci-fi setting when it seemed everyone else was stuck in the dungeons and dragons mold, and this was the best game in the series. Sadly, it was also the last game worth playing in the series, as future installments would go in a new direction, replacing the anime inspired turn based format with a repetative hack'n'slash level grinding affair set amongst forgettable online-enabled environments when it hit the Dreamcast. The series then sunk to its lowest point when SEGA decided the Nintendo GameCube needed a phantasy star game that used card based combat. After another lukewarm response to"Phantasy Star Univers" on the current consoles, one has to wonder if this once wonderous series has been tarnished too far to make a comeback.

7. VALKYRIE PROFILE /VALKYRIE PROFILE II: SILMERIA (PS1/PSP/PS2) - A hit and miss series with most folks, but I really enjoyed this unique experience. It was very odd in it's design in that it had players explore towns and dungeons that were in 2D format but very highly detailed, and those linear 2D environments were connected to form a 3D-ish map area. It also used a strange combat system, as characters in your party were pre-assigned to a certain slot or button, and you would commence their attacks by hitting the corresponding button sequences. The visuals and artistic style alone make these games memorable, and the story set in a Norse mytho gave the games a unique flavor. It won't be for everyone, as the 2D portions take some getting used to, but if you're looking for something "different", this is it.

6. CHRONO TRIGGER (PS1/SNES) - No disrespect to Final Fantasy 2/3 or Secret of Mana, but this was the finest of the SNES RPGs, if for nothing more than its completely original and fascinatingly deep and inspired story. That said, it was also a tone of fun in the gameplay department and had plenty of graphical shine for its day. LOL, who am I kidding!? I'll be honest, I never played this on the SNES because it was hard to find and pricey, and it was only years later than I was able to enjoy it as part of the PSone's "final fantasy chronicles" set. Regardless, a fantastic game worthy of a spot in the top 10, and a game I most definitely would have had on the SNES had I not had my head up my arse.

5. DRAGON WARRIOR (NES) - I can't remember if the main character had a given name, nor can I remember exactly what I loved so much about this game, but I do remember that the fairy flute is burried four steps south of the bath in Kol, that the Axe Warrior won't give up Erdrik's armour very easily, and that metal slimes were experience points galore. It was slow paced, it was frustrating (why do torches only light up like four blocks of the room!?) and it was a level grinder, but this was my first RPG, and still one of my faves.

4. FINAL FANTASY VII (PS1) - An obvious pick, but it belongs here. This was the game that trulytook RPGs into the 3D and cutscene era, and it remains a fantastic story played out by some of the most memorable and beloved characters. It often gets over-hyped almost at tedium, but there's no denying the quality of this title. It remainsas popular as it is for good reason

3. VAGRANT STORY (PS1) - How can a man wearing a pair of assless chaps be such a fantastic protagonist? Simple; give him a fantastic battles system, a huge list of combos and abilities, and have him fight some of the largest and most impressive monsters ever seen in an RPG. Oh, it also helps to throw the best item creation system in there for kicks, along with hundreds of possible item combinations. The fact that the story was fantastic is almost an afterthought to the addictive item and combat aspects.

2. FINAL FANTASY XII (PS2) - Probably the closest thing I'll ever see to a Vagrant Story sequel, but one of the best RPGs in its own right. Most people wouldn't rate this as the best FF title, but it was certainly my favorite, if for nothing more than its art style and battle system. I liked the characters and story alot, and it was nice to see a Final Fantasy title with more of a "free-raoming" sense, especially after how linear FFX was in terms of exploring its locations.

1. LUNAR: SILVER STAR STORY/ ETERNAL BLUE (PS1) - Perhaps cheating to lump them together, and probably a surprise choice to most considering these are remakes of the old SegaCD classics, but I just can't say enough about these wonderfull games. Such a great blend of old-school gameplay mechanics (battle system, general layout/desgin) and fantastic production values for its time (anime movie segments, voice work, songs). Original songs were used in the games, chracters and monsters were vibrant, animated and moved during battle, and there were hidden bonus games and materials galore to make replays more enjoyable. While the game's stories generally boiled down to cliches, they were almost tongue-in-cheek in thier design, and the wonderfull characters and writting made them rise above the sum of thier parts. There was also a nice blend of humor, and a plethora of memorable moments, such as the first meeting with Quark the White Dragon, which lets you know early on that you're in for a treat.

KILLZONE 2 frustrations, Review retraction coming?

The shine is quickly tarnishing on KILLZONE 2 and it mostly has to do with the online component.

Firstly, let me say that the campaign remains an absolute feast of fun, and secondly, let me say that the online multiplayer just might end upfalling under the "completely broken and unplayable" category for some people.

KILLZONE 2's online component is initially very impressive and wholey intrigueing, and it does some things very well that I'm sure will pop up in future online titles. The most impressive aspect is the class system, in which you gain ranks and abilities as you rack up the points, thus unlocking various new skills, weapons and abilities. This is initially very entertaining as it adds a level of customization and variety. You can play as a medic and heal/revive your team, an engineer who can deploy turrets, a sabotour who can disguise himself, a sniper who can cloak himself invisible, and so on. On many occasions the game can be an absolute pleasure to play, but on far too many other occasions, you'll want to put your foot through the tele.

HERE ARE THE MAJOR FLAWS REGARDING KILLZONE 2's ONLINE COMPONENT:

1) SLOPPY AND ABNORMAL HIT DETECTION - There are just too many times when you see a guy first, shoot first, andlay intohim with a full clip of bullets, only to have him turn around and kill you with a single shotgun hit. It becomes very frustrating, because the game essentially penalizes accuracy and skill, while promoting random absurdity. Simply put, if you shoot first and empty half a clip of machine gun rounds into an enemies' chest, he should be dead. End of story. But not in Killzone2. In KZ2 the guy thats already eaten 6 of your bullets ALWAYS has time to one-hit you with a shotgun and take you along with him.

2) HORRID WEAPON BALANCING - This is aided by the sloppy hit detection, but amplifiedmuch furtherbecause the weapons in KZ2 don't balance properly. Automatic machine gun rifles are so underpowered that they become almost pointless, while shotguns are the choice dejeur because they eliminate the sloppy hit detection and they require very little skill to use. This creates an unfortunate trend, because players often choose to opt against using the skill weapons in lue of rocket launchers and shotguns, and this all but renders the game's class system a complete waste of time (since nobody wants to be a class that has to use pistols and weak rifles when the other team has six guys shooting rockets at you constantly). It also quickly turns matches which could be otherwise interesting into generic affairs with little skill involved. Its a common occurance for people to just run around shooting rockets into rooms and just hoping for the best. This is hampered even further by how few rounds the automatic rifles carry; it can often take almost half or more of your ammo clip to take down a single enemy player, so you essentially have to reload after 2-3 kills. This is annoying because reloading is rediculously slow and cumbersome, and 1/2 the time you die its BECAUSE you had to reload. It makes it almost impossible to go on kill streaks, even if you're typically getting the drop on your enemy.

3) SOME VERY POOR DESIGN CHOICES -In Killzone2, the characters are large and robust, ala "Gears of War" styled fellas with the huge armour and non-existance necks. Problem is, they designed the levels to include a vast number of tight corridors, stairways, rampsand alleys in which its actually impossible to pass or get by a teamate (or enemy). This is especially frustrating when some idiot on your own team parks himself in a doorway or staircase, hindering your movement to atarget or blocking your escape path.At least 1/2 of the time you die in KZ2 its not because someone with skillkilled you, but rather because you got impeded or hung up by your own team or hampered by friendly fire or general stupidity on the part of your own team. The other poor design choice is found in the map design. Initially they seem vast and expansive, until you realize that almost every level has at least two obvious "choke points" where the flow stalls. The maps are massive, but more often than not, 90% of the action always takes place in 10% of the map.

4) POSSIBLY THE STUPIDEST COMMUNITY OF GAMERS -I hate to have to say this, but its true. The sheer stupidity of some (not all) of the people playing this game will leave you in awe. Some examples; even though friendly fire can kill your teamates and lose you points, many of your teamates will choose to fire a rocket into a room that has more of his own team in it than enemies. Others will decide they want to venture away at random, even though the mission is to defendthe veryarea that he/she just left. Others still will allow you to die because they're playing selfishly as opposed to trying to complete whatever mission objectives are in place, and even fewer stillseem tocare if they're shooting at an enemy or a teamate. Needless to say its very frustrating when you're the target the team is supposed to be protecting during an "assassination" mission, and you die from friendly fire because your own team is randomly launching rockets and grenades without even looking. (barrels, turrets and such can also explode and kill you if hit by random friendly fire) *NOTE: I'm not implying these situations don't occur in EVERY online game, but it seems to happen alot more frequently in KZ2 than say in Rainbow Six, CoD4,Resistance etc.

LONG STORY SHORT: THE CONCLUSION

ONLINE CONCEPT = A+

ONLINE EXECUTION = C

With the unparalled level of customization and available skills/abilities, KILLZONE 2 "should" be the best and most impressive online mulitplayer to date, but unfortunately, all of its wonderous upsides are rendered almost completely useless. The sloppy hit detection and poorweapon balancing turn what could have been one of the most skillfull and technical experiences, into one in which more often than not becomes a random experience in eating rockets and getting killed by your own teamates.

I was originally going to make corrections and/or a retraction from my review (in which I gave the game an overall score of 9/10) but I honstly still think the game deserves a 9 due to its wonderfull campaign. I also can't fully lay 100% of the fault of game issues with the devs, as I'm sure the developers expected people to ACTUALLY USE the various classes as opposed to just running around with rocket launchers 99% of the time. Plus, the odd time you get into a match in which people are being mature and actually using the game to its intended purpose, you see the potential, and realize how amazing the gameCOULD be.

I've decided to keep playing the KZ2 online only as long as it takes for me to get the necessary trophies, and then it'll be back to a game like CoD4 in which the mechanicsAND PLAYERSare alot more.....consistant.

Hatin' on SquarEnix, Reviews Up

I never thought I'd see the day when I'd write a review bashing SquareSoft, but its gotten to that point folks, so here it goes, with the hopes that my RPG Temple bretherin will forgive me......

SquareSoft, you've lost me. Well, I guess its SquarEnix now, but whatever, that little fopau itself will tell you the last time I was actually high on the company. Remember those good old days!? You know, when in between wonderfull new Final Fantasy titles we were treated to all those other gems like Chrono Cross, XenoGears, Vagrant Story, Legend of Mana etc?Now it seems that you'd rather do nothing but pimp remakes and sequels on handhelds or throw out cookie cutter crap on consoles. What have you become!? Ports and remakes on the DS and PSP, J-RPGs exclusive to the 360, and a barage of weak at best efforts.

What the hell was "Final Fatnasy X-2" all about, aside from taking a huge crap on "FFX"? What were you thinking with "Dirge of Cerberus"!? That thing was almost unplayable! And the glutton of forgettable efforts from "Grandia III" to "Last Remnant", "Dawn of Mana" to "Unlimitted Saga". And sorry, but I didn't fork out fees to play "FFXI Online".Sure, "Valkyrie Profile II" and "Final Fantasy XII" were pretty damn good, but those are now the exception as opposed to the rule.

All I'm saying is that maybe, just maybe, its time to stop wasting time and manpower on all these refurbs and second tier titles, screw the handhelds for a moment ,and actually create an A+ title worthy of your own lofty standards. Hell, maybe you could even get FFXIII out sometime this generation. (And it better not be on the DS or IPhone)

RANT OVER.

In general news, my battle with corporate glutton GameStop/EB has come to an end, and like many of you suspected, the little guy got skrewed. They don't care that thier employee assaulted me, nor did they once actually appologize for the incident. I recieved an insulting little $20 giftcard that I sold to a friend for cash, and I've now given up, realizing that once companies like GAMESPOT/EBgames get as big as they have now, customer service goes right out the window.

I've also got some new reviews up, for "Folklore", "Killzone2" and "Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection"

Hope you're all well,

TKF.

PART 2: ASSAULTED at a GameStop/EB

* For those who missed part one of my tale of customer service whoe, read the previous blog entry *

Okay, so "Mike" the disgruntled EB/GS employee has assualted me and I've already been given the run-around by Jin Wukim the company excuse machine. His skills as a company shrill are vast as he remains steadfast in his stubborness to....well, to do nothing about the situation. So after waiting well over a week for a reply and having gotten none, I had to place two more calls to customer service in Dallas Texas before he bothers to call me back. What transpires next is probably more disheartening and unfathomable than being physically harrassed in the first place.

So much to his personal displeasure, Mr.Jin.W. calls me back. He has nothing more than a crapload of more excusses. He informs me that "GameStop/EB stores are private property so if they wish to remove someone, they can" and that "since our video surveilance is private property aswell, they don't have to show me or admitt what is on the tape". He also explained that "since I wasn't technically injured" and "they don't feel that Excessive Force was used" there isn't really anything to be further debated.

So there you have it folks; according to District Rep Jin here in Hamilton Ontario, it is okay for GameStop/EBgames employees to berate their customers and physically harrass them, because provided you're not seriously injured and the company feels the amount of force was sufficient but not excessive, its all in just a good days work in terrible customer service.

So, as my second frustrating phonecall with Jin the useless company excuse lackie comes to a close, I ask him one last time if this was his best effort at a solution that he feels will resolve the issue and make me feel right again as a customer. He then explains that "he's not worried about me as a customer at that store because there are other EB/GS locations in the area I could go to instead of the one I have an issue with". So the company doesn't care about me being harrassed by its employee, but it wants me to shop at its "other locations"!!?? So I once again reiterate that this solution is not satisfactory as far as I'm concearned and that I will not be shopping at ANY of their locations any longer.....after which point he offers me a $20 gift card.....to be used at EBgames. WTF!? Honestly friends, I'm not even sure this guy even knew how utterly rediculous he sounded. After all this horrid service thats driven me to the point of cancelling my pre-orders and telling the man that I'll never shop at his stores again.....NOW he offers me a giftcard......for a measly $20. Speecless. So now that I've been jerked around to the point I won't shop there, I'm offered a little $20 giftcard that won't buy squat unless I fork over more money to the store to cover any differences.

Mr District Rep JinWuKim, you sir can shove that giftcard up your ignorant arse.

I will be expressing my dissatisfaction with the "resolution" of this situation tomorrow when I try to reach whomever it is that is above the useless person I've had to deal with so far, though I have to admitt, the higher up I go I'm losing faith that anyone at GameStop/EBgames can even spell "Customer Service", let alone offer me some.

Assaulted at an EBgames/GameStop

Well friends, its been some time since I've thrown a blog your way, and it was due time anyhow, but something happened to me recently that I just have to share. So, cutting past the typical I'm playing this (FF-tactics & Oblivion) type stuff, here is my tale of insult and whoe at a GameStop location (called EBgames here in Canada, same company)......

Now, allow me to pre-empt this story by assuring you this is not a fabrication; this actually happened, and for anyone who's ever worked in customer service (or experienced bad customer service) you will be intrigued and appauled.

So there I am in the PS2 section at the EB location in Dundas Ontario (Canada) when I come across a copy of "Silent Hill 2" for $14.99. A Good find I'm thinking, so I take the empty jewel case to the cashier. The cashier then tries to upsell me on the "disc warranty", to which I inquire, "do I need it? how bad is the disc"?. Well firstly, the disc was not in prime shape, with a fair share of scratching present on the disc. Secondly, i noticed it was the greatest hits version of the game, with the red striping all over it, even though the jewel case was for the original non-greatest hits version. Not being satisfied with the condition of the product, and not wanting the greatest hits version, I informed the emplyee ("Mike") that I would not be purchasing the game. After asking me "why not?" I explained to the employee that I was looking for the original version in good shape and that this copy wouldn't meet my needs. The employee at this point said I was "crazy" and that he couldn't understand my decision. He then went on a rant about people shouldn't be so picky about games, and I simply told him that as a game collector, certain versions and conditioning makes a difference to me. He then called me "crazy" twice more before I lost my patience and told him that "while I might be crazy, he was being an _____". At this point, the employee said I should just leave the store then.

Here is where the incident truly takes a turn for the worse. I told the employee that I would indeed be leaving the store, but not before I was given the customer service number (I was so frustrated by the experience that I wanted to lodge a complaint) at which point "Mike" the obviously disgruntled employee came from around the counter, placed both his hands on me, and began trying to shove me out of the store. Can you believe that!? The guy came all the way around the counter and laid his hands on a customer!

Now, that might seem shocking, but its not nearly as shocking as what happens next. So I place a call to Customer Service, and I file a formal complaint. Two days later, I get a call from the area rep, who tells me he has reviewed the situation, and feels that this isn't really "a big deal". I assure him that it was indeed "a big deal" to me, and he begins giving me excuses such as "you weren't really hurt" and "the employee didn't use excessive force". I then asked the gentleman what GameStop/EBgames company policy was on its employee's physically touching customers was, and all he could say was that he "refused to comment" but that he would "look into it further". I then told the man that I would like to know what they're prepared to do to keep my business, to which he replied "you could just shop somewhere else". No appology, No complimentary coupons or vouchers, just excuses and semantical avoidance. Well, it has now been over a week, nobody has contacted me further, and I have left several messages with the company rep and recieved no reply.

You can understand that at this point, I'm rather dissapointed and frustrated with the situation, so I decided simply to stop shopping there. So I now go into the store again to cancell my pre-orders (RE5, Killzone2 etc.) and they tell me that I can only have store credit, and I cannot get my money back. So the damned EB/GameStop rep tells me to pound salt and that they don't care I was mistreated and physically harrassed by thier employee, and he actually suggests that I shop somewhere else instead, yet they're sure as hell going to try to keep all my money from the pre-orders!!

Well, skrew GameStop, skrew EBgames, Skrew Jin the company shrill, and skrew Mike the abusive employee. I'm still fighting this one to get my pre-order money back, and I'll keep you folks updated on the situation.

TKF has gone BluRay, gone Platinum, and gone Home.

First, I went Blue! Even though I've had my PS3 for well over a year now, I finally bothered to purchase my first BluRay movies, in the form of "Kill Bill" volumes one and two. Already one of my all-time favorite movies, I must say its rather enjoyable in high definition. Now I can only dream of scooping up Alien, Aliens and Alien3 on BluRay once they're out!

I've also gone PLATINUM, having earned my first PSN trophy for platinum level awards. The game was Uncharted, and a huge thank-you and cheers goes out to GS user and RPG Temple (woot!) member AZEL_KOS_MOS for a few key pointers and advice that helped me sercure the last few trophies. Thanks man! Now that Uncharted is 100% complete, I'll be moving on to BioShock and Fallout3.

I also took my first look at PSN's "Home", and I must say I was very impressed. Its only in open-beta currently, and its had its growing pains, but what a fantastic and enjoyable feature to have. I can't wait until its fully up and running, because it is definitely worth the hype and wait, and its only going to get better and grow from there.

Thats it for this update folks, hope you're all doing well and enjoying the holiday season. If I don't get a chance to talk to some of you before the 25th, have a wonderfull Holidays and New Years.

Cheers :)

Heroes suffer a major Fatality

Yoda doesn't belong in Soul Calibur, Solid Snake doesn't belong in Smash Bros, and dammit, Mortal Kombat has no business being throw into a game with the DC Universe. There, I said it. Stupid idea, stupid tie-in, horrid game. Enough said? No.

MARVEL and DC should realize that they're only hurting thier own reputation with such a sordid array of pointless tie-ins (Capcom vs Marvel, MortalK vs DC etc) and they should have enough common sense to give us what every fighter and comic fan alike have wanted for years....MARVEL vs DC.

Its not friggin' hard people! Take 10 Marvel characters. Take 10 DC characters. Add in some extra unlockable characters from each universe, and let us fight out our super-hero fantasies with dignity!

MARVEL could pit the likes of IronMan, Spiderman, Capt'n America, Incredible Hulk, Mr.Fantastic, Wolverine, Iceman, Storm and such against DC's finest like Batman, Superman, Wonderwoman, Green Lantern, Flash, Auquman, Martian Manhunter. Throw in some unlockable badies like Magneto, Mystique, Joker, Dr.Doom etc. and you'd have nothing short of the game that any super-fan could salavate over, and would definitely rush out to appreciate.

Seriously, isn't MARVEL vs DC the fighter that we're all really waiting for?

Gaming Progress, and some Reviews are up

Progress wise, I have completed "Uncharted Drake's Fortune" and "DeadSpace", though both require one final playthrough to get the last trophy or two needed for 100% completion. I have also logged more time on Oblivion, though it doesn't seem to make much of a dent, lol, as I am now 100+ hours in and haven't bothered to touch the main story yet. Joining the thieve's and assassin's guilds just seemed like a better use of my time....

I also slashed my way through "Heavenly Sword" very quickly, started "Bioshock", and took my first steps into the world of "LittleBigPlanet". Once "Bioshock" is completed, finishing "Folklore" and "Silent Hill Homecoming" will finally be within the realm of possibility. Jeebus, lol, too many games, not enough sick days left available!

I also managed to get my first few PS3 reviews up, so my thoughts on "DeadSpace", "Uncharted" and "Heavenly Sword" are now available. My next reviews will be for "Oblivion" and "Folklore" both of which I've now played enough to have a confident opinion. I also hope to have reviews for "Bioshock" and "LittleBigPlanet" shortly thereafter.

I hope you're all doing well friends, talk to you soon, TKF.
