We need to start boycoting CoD because they are just going to keep thinking that doing this to people is OK, it's not, I am not getting the next CoD.

metroidprime55

Why not? It sounds good so far. Just don't buy the DLC.

You not buying a copy won't change a thing. In order to "boycott" you have to get everyone else on the same page, which won't happen. No point in missing out on a potentially good game because you have some childish dream of standing up to the big bad bully.

That's good news. However, developers have a difficult task of developing games and having them be perfect at launch.

Sure now you can look back and say "OMG STARCRAFT AND COUNTER STRIKE ARE TEH BEST!" but people forget those games have gotten large amounts of updates and patches. TF2 on PC is so ahead of console versions, not because of mouse/keyboard being better suited for FPS, but because it's gotten a large number of updates and patches. Gears of War 2 is actually playable now, and sure at launch it was pretty bad, but it's actually a really good game to play now and it's sad that console gamers such short attention spans.

It's also sad because MW2 on Day 1 was worse than Gears 2, and yet 500k people are always on MW2. Each update has made the game worse, and nobody has left.

That sounds about right. MS could of taking that money and had one of there few FP developers make a awesome new IP.djsifer01

That IP wouldn't have done nearly as much for the system as GTA4.

The market is dominated by casuals, not core gamers. Not to mention that GTA is a huge title. It was a smart choice on Microsoft's behalf for two reasons, one, they gave a great game to 360 owners and two, if it wasn't for GTA4 being multiplat on Day 1, the 360 probably would have suffered the same fate as Xbox 1.

The MW2 fanbase plays only MW2. Those $30 they'll spend will give them more entertainment than they would spending it on something else. Afterall, this game is created for people who don't like their FPS games to take skill. Oh wait, nevermind, that's every FPS nowadays. I feel sorry for fans of FPS games, be prepared for $20 map packs for Halo Reach and Killzone 3.

The fact that you said "no side quests" suggest that you didn't play the game through. There are PLENTY of side quests.

AfterBurnerZ

"Plenty" of side quests which amount to doing basically the same thing over and over again? Sounds like the rest of the game.

No, that sounds like Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2.

Oh wait, nevermind. Final Fantasy XIII is the game that is not an RPG.

The only time I felt there was a decent community in a game was Socom. So Socom

mitu123

Ah yes, Socom.

I used to play Socom 2 back in the day, so many great times, and I hope Socom 4 is like that too.

I doubt it. It's more of a showcase for PS Move.

Sony fails on a whole new level. I thought "Hey, our system is $600" was bad, but this is just taking it too far. I don't think they understand the whole motion control thing. Core gaming do not want, nor do they care for motion controls. At least Microsoft is copying Nintendo right. They're acknowledging that it's for the casuals. 360 owners won't have to worry about Halo or Gears or Forza being ruined because they're being developed around motion controls.

MAG just released this year. Unless Zipper was working on Socom 4 while they should've been working on MAG, I just don't see how Socom 4 is supposed to be good. This is how I see it.

A) It took them four years (maybe more) to develop MAG. Now let's pretend the entire four years, the development team was working on it to try and get out the best possible product they could. They failed. MAG is a disappointment and the only people who care for it are the diehard fanboys. There's a reason this game got a 50% price drop.

B) Zipper split their teams and have been developing Socom 4 for awhile now. This makes me think they don't care about the quality of the products. This means they never took MAG serious and were just developing it to say "Hey look! PS3 supports 256 players!" They should have just stuck with Socom, instead, it was given to Slant Six who destroyed the Socom name. Most people hear Socom and think about the atrocity known as Confrontation. It damaged the franchise.

So lets go with A. How would a development team who took four years to release MAG, it ends up mediocre, be able to make Socom 4 good when it has to be built to support both Move and standard controller?

Socom is dead. I don't need to wait months for the inevitable. That's why I sold my Playstation. I only owned it for Socom, same reason I had a PS2.

should've started around that price, being MP-only.

or at least include a headset and charge full price, like the SOCOM games had.

HavocV3

The only one that came with a headset was the first one. Socom 2, 3 or Combined Assault didn't come with one.

The only time I felt there was a decent community in a game was Socom. So Socom

Star67

Ah yes, Socom.

So many memories. I loved that game so much. It required skill which is the number one thing for me. I hate simple games that anyone can pick up and play. I love how everyone shared gameplay secrets, even glitches. I hate glitches, but in Socom it was great that everyone shared them. Sure it was a double edged sword so to speak, but it's not like games nowadays where people find out a glitch and they don't tell anyone, not even their friends. Then they benefit from it while everyone else suffers.

Everyone was respectful. There was no insulting eachother, yelling at your teammates for losing the round or making a mistake. However, the community was still very competitive and always wanted to win, but they realized it was just a game and sometimes, things don't always go your way. Sadly, those days are gone. Now it's just "omg get raped!" or telling your teammates how much they suck (I still have no idea what this accomplishes, because it's only going to make them try less) and just full of disrespectful people.

I recently got back on Socom: Confrontation before I sold my PS3 and I remember losing a round which I should have won. It was 1v4, I killed three of them and should've killed the last guy but I choked. At the end, I said "My bad guys I should've won that" and I got back "Don't worry man it's ok you tried and almost did it"

I was shocked. After playing 360 for the past three years, I usually get a "STFU YOU SUCK, I WOULDA DID THAT WITH MY EYES CLOSED"..but that's enough. I could write a novel about Socom. Shame Sony had to throw it all in the garbage in favor of FPS to try and capitalize on the FPS craze.

[QUOTE="nhh18"]Well eminem rapped in the advertisement. That made a huge mark on sales.

iron-iron

Still doesn't explain why it's still the most played game on consoles currently. It's even played a lot on PC. It's the most played game on Steam for I think the past two weeks, and right now it currently has 32k on, with 80k+ peak. Bad Company 2 only has a peak of 9k on Steam. It's sitting at fourth on Xfire above, hey, Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

PS: No I don't like MW2 and no I don't suck at BC2. It just isn't a fun game and all the hate that MW2 is getting is unnecessary.

when is hating on a game necessary? ever? we do it because we want to, not because we have to.

No, you obviously do it to convince yourselves. Whether it be convincing yourself that BC2 really is better or if you're just trying to convince yourself that you are some type of "real" gamer.

I believe Lil Wayne is the worst rapper ever. You'll never hear me talking about him or saying "Yes! Kid Cudi sold x amount of albums! He's so great! He has good lyrics, raps about more than just drugs, money and degrading women!" Why? It's pointless. Whoever likes him, is going to continue liking him and no matter how bad I say he is, it won't change a thing. I already know the every living organism is a better rapper than him so I don't need to constantly say "OH OH OH THIS GUY IS BETTER!"

Just stop. It's sad and pathetic.

Yet MW2 is sitting comfortably at the top of the Xbox Live and most like Playstation Network Top 10.

They didn't put a dent in anyone's fanbase.

The game is boring. It was fun for about three minutes but it just isn't fun at all. Modern Combat on the PS2/Xbox was better and more fun.
