@charizard1605: This is what i dont get, Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, A Link Between Worlds are all amazing games. I dont think they ever lost there way. Not with Zelda, and not with Mario.

Twilight Princess is a very flawed take on Zelda, Skyward Sword is just trash that loses the point of what the series is meant to be, A Link Between Worlds is incredible, and one of the best games of the last 20 years, and really, ever.

Twilight Princess is "flawed" in the same way that A Link Between Worlds is "flawed". It's a carbon copy. TP lifts OoT while aLBW lifts aLttP.

Eh whatever.

Early Access is fine.

Preordering is fine.

Just use discretion as with all matters that involve money. Also preordering isn't a binding contract; the perpetual nonsense of gamers that preorder is the downfall of the industry is nonsense.

Trying to coerce people into telling them the 'right' way to spend their money is part of the problem.

There are a few reasons to buy a console over a building/buying a PC:

1. It's simple enough for someone with know technical knowledge, e.g. a parent looking for a gift, to buy and set up without having to worry about messing with software or hardware. Although it could be argued that once the PC is set up, it's almost as simple as those commenting about "plug and play".
2. A community of friends may own a particular system and you want to be included in the group
3. Exclusives -- This is the one that dictates my purchase of a console.

With that amount of money I think you're better with a ps4. It require 1000 to get a good pc that offer the same thing as the ps4.

If you had enough money, I'd decided with the exclusivity if they interest you. Also you could prefer keyboard and mouse over controller for many games like me. And you can always play with a controller with pc. You can't play with mouse and keyboard with ps4.

I built a $600 PC that runs the Witcher 3 on ultra settings with higher FPS than the PS4 version, so the first statement isn't true.

@mastermetal777: I wouldn't say Dark Souls requires a defensive playstyle, it allows it but doesn't require it; however, I would call it slower than Bloodborne. You can tank your way through Dark Souls, not worrying about defense.

I came in here not expecting Rain World, and I'm pleasantly surprised to find Rain World. Greatly looking forward to that title (Hyper Light Drifter as well). This is what my radar has on it, in alphabetical order.

  • ABZU
  • Dark Souls III
  • Dishonored 2
  • Dragon Quest VII
  • Final Fantasy XV
  • Fire Emblem Fates
  • Fire Watch
  • Horizon Zero Dawn
  • Hyper Light Drifter
  • The Last Guardian
  • The Legend of Zelda Wii U
  • Nier: Automata
  • No Man's Sky
  • Persona 5
  • Rain World
  • That Dragon, Cancer (released)
  • Uncharted 4
  • The Wtiness (released)

Probably a few more that I can't think of at the moment too. It's going to be a pretty full year if all of these games hit there mark. I'm sure a few will slip into next year.

No I bought a Wii U last year, I'm thinking I can offput the purchase of the NX to 2-3 years down the road, depending on what there library consists of at that time.

@employee427: I'm not really sure what the OP is talking about. He never specifies what he means by 'idle' games, and begins to ramble about how modern independent game development is harkoning back to how games were developed back in the '90s. The general discussion seemed to be about indie games, Do you have any insight on what @xantufrog was saying? If you do know what is being eluded to, then what would you be considering as an 'idle' game?

I wouldnt even call them games, because that would imply you play them.

Despite the fact that you've lumped the amorphous and ubiquitous category of 'indie games' into the 'not a game' category, this is still such a silly and narrow minded view on the concept of play, suggesting that playing games can only be achieved in goal oriented skillful manner. There are plenty of games that have nothing to do with objectives or involve skill but are extremely important in development.

I think you should take into consideration that competitive gaming is a short-lived career, and that unless you're the top rank, it doesn't really pay off, especially for the amount of effort and training you put into it, which is something you've obviously done because you're facing top ranked teams for money. Yes, videogames are fun and yes you're miraculously making money off of your hobby, a hobby that is over-saturated with people trying to make a career out of it, but I think your parents do have your best interest in mind. You're in your formative years.

Unlike what some users are saying, your parents are not bigots, and trying to get emancipated is a stupid idea because, well first you're not going to win an emancipation case because your parents won't let you play video games, and as a minor you would most likely get placed into the foster care system. You should tell them that you're earning money from playing games because the fact that you're going through the lengths you are to hide your income is going to blow up in your face if they ever find out. Also, I'm not sure how official these tournaments are, but do you have to declare your winnings and income when you do your taxes?
