[QUOTE="wurd"]bare in mind that it takes 4-8 hours to download a game depending on your broadband speed while it takes me 5 minutes to drive to the nearest Game. Steam is usually more expensive than internet shops or in many instances the high street stores plus of course you have the hassle of re-downloading everything or have to back things up when you change comp. For me the Game store just down the road wins it everytime but i'll use Steam if it's cheaper and I can wait the extra day.

well the only reason i asked about steam was because my local gamestop said the original crysis was discontinued and they didnt have STALKER. Besides i downloaded STALKER this morning and it took less than an hour

Is there any advantage or disadvantage from downloading a game through steam rather than buying the disk?

the steam apps file is empty
that's prolly system restore eating up your hard drive space. every time u install or uninstall a program, it creates a restore point that takes gigs of space. u can clear it up by rite-click my computer >> properties >> click system protection on the left panemike4realz
what do i click once im in the system protection part?

i just dont understand. right after i downloaded steam, it said 195GB free of 222 space available. i was like ok cool. I download the HL2 demo, its at 194/222. I delete it its still at 194. I download the last remnant demo, its at 193/222. I delete it and it stays the same yet again. i d.l the fear 2 demo then delete it and im down to 192/222. I have no games on my steam account. I uninstall steam and then it says 191/222. I reinstall it, im down to 190. i dont even touch it, come back an hour later and its at 189. I read your post and clear my recycle bin of all the files i deleted from steam, it goes down to 188. why does it just keep going down?

I know i still got a lot of space, i just want to understand why this is happening.

Ok so i just got my first laptop, and of course want to play some games on it. The can you run it website for whatever reason doesnt work for me so i figured id download demos of newer games to see what this baby can do.

When i download something, i obviously have less space on my hard drive, but thing is, when i delete it from steam ( delete all local info ) my HDD space doesnt go back. Im used to on 360, when i delete a demo, i get the space back. I checked my control panel cause i thought maybe i had to remove it there but its not there. Is the file still hidden on my computer somewhere?

Also, if i can run the fear 2 demo on medium to high settings, can i run just about anything thats out there?

hello

i dont know much aout computers so i was lookin for some friendly information

I just ordered a dell studio17 with

Core 2 duo ZT6400(2GHz/800Mhz)
3gb ddr2 at 800 Mhz
250 GB 5400 RPM HDD
256mb ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650
Windows Vista premium

Now im not using this as a gaming laptop, but i was curious as to what types of games i would be able to run well, in case i wanted to install one or two.
im sure it wont run crysis and i know it depends on the game but in general, would it be able to run some of the newer games or should i stick to older ones?

so basically would i be able to run newer/ish games?
