Not really. I don’t play many multiplayer-focused games, and my goal on single player games is to play through them at the “medium” or “normal” difficulty, so I can move on to the next game. My time for gaming is very limited; I don’t want to spend too much time mastering mechanics on fighting games or shooters and such to test my skill against others online (or offline, really).

Liberals actually have a point with this one. Some of their reaction is overblown, but it is very unbecoming of her to act the way she did publicly considering how she props herself up as a traditional values conservative.

Conservatives need to drop the support for the “strong conservative woman“ type that has been a thing since the 2008 Presidential election. It’s bad optics, and most people can see right through the thin veil of moralizing.

I’m yet to play it, but it’s interesting how quickly people make judgments without having played the game. I don’t get how it’s “greasy” corporatism when it is included as part of a solid, affordable, paid service, and it IS an IP fans have wanted to receive some attention for a while. So I don’t get how this is a bad thing.

I see that people are calling the game one of the best of the year on other sites. I wonder if any people here who made snap judgments will play the game for an adequate amount of time and assess it fairly, not based on their personal expectations of what should have been made.

I’ve only read good things about the game. I’ll wait to play a bit before judging. I think it could be a stepping stone to a more traditional game in the franchise.

It would be easier to name the franchises that have numerous masterpieces: Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Resident Evil.

Then you have some one-offs like Super Meat Boy and Astro Bot: Rescue Mission, and The Last of Us, among a few others.

I never skipped a generation but mainly played PS1 over the N64. Going back to N64 this year, I’ve realized that N64>PS1. Like most Nintendo consoles, it has a better niche catalogue. For example, find me a better puzzle game than Tetrisphere from that era. You can’t. And N64 has three great Tetris games, including two that are exclusive. Not to mention N64 was king in platformers and FPSs over PS1.

I’m glad Rare is still around, and I’m willing to wager their games have been consistently decent since the Xbox 360 days. Their N64 output, though, was absolutely golden (no pun intended). The N64 is my retro console of choice to explore this year, and Rare’s offerings hold up very well. I’d like to check out their other, later games via Rare Replay and perhaps give Sea of Thieves a chance one day as well.

Plenty of excellent games with fantastic artistry still exist in the indie scene and with Nintendo. Capcom has also made a resurgence, although I want some more classic-style, 2D shooter-platformer Mega Man titles.

However, we have moved past postmodernism with its unusual mixture of juxtapositions. We now have a hodgepodge of cultural references and styles from multiple decades being thrown into games that have very basic gameplay elements.

Someone already posted about the Nicki Minaj-COD mashup. This sort of thing isn’t even postmodernism in my opinion. It’s whatever we are in right now in the Western World. I think, like @mrbojangles25 said, it’s connected to Capitalism. We’re in some sort of hybrid of postmodernism and boundless Capitalism where a mishmash of whatever will bring the biggest profit is what we now get as “art” and “entertainment.” It’s happening across all industries, and it’s sad to see.

In terms of exclusives and unique experiences, I thought the GameCube was better than the PS2 or the original Xbox, though I loved all three.
